Thanks for the fit flops info. The ones I have in mind don't have toe posts so that won't be an issue. I was drawn to the 'jelly' nature of the soles as I need something easy to slip on and off when I go on boat trips or to beach clubs when sandals with 'suede' soles get ruined. This is the style I had in mind:
    http://www.fitflop.co.uk/en/womens/womens-sandals/fitflop-flare-suede-slide-sandals-pebble-%7C-official-fitflop-store/883945329654.html?cgid=womens_sandals&start=135
I'm going to keep an eye on them. Otherwise I'll stick to my Birkenstocks.:)

I tried a few of the outfits on yesterday. This one I'm keeping:
    http://www.peacocks.co.uk/lds-jumpsuit-strappy-03a064.html
It's cheap enough that if I only wear it for one holiday it'll be fine and the paisley pattern is a classic. I like the fact that the straps mean I can adjust the body length.

Still got a few things to try on, discarded a couple of short dresses as unflattering.

We are both taking this as a learning curve. I have been single and independent for just over 20 years, so know I can be happy on my own. I have had a lot of fun with Wayne though.

You've definitely got you head screwed on and not getting carried away sugarbaby.:T I think I've mentioned my BIL on here before. He was widowed suddenly and rushed into marriage with someone who, like you, had been independent for years. Unfortunately he learned the hard way as she refused (rightly IMO) to fit into the mould of being looked after, giving up her interests and even refusing to sell her home and move to his town where she knows nobody. We told him to take it slowly and just enjoy a relationship and see how things developed but he wouldn't listen. They're still together but live in separate houses and 'visit' each at weekends. She's happy with that and he just has to lump it.

I'm not ready for sandals either ellsbel although it's a glorious day here. I'm wearing black jeans with my grey Jack Wills tee shirt. As tee shirts go it wasn't cheap but it hangs so much better than others.
    http://www.jackwills.com/fullford-t-shirt-100006907012.html?cgid=Ladies_TShirts#prefn1=colorname&prefv1=GREY&pmin=16.5&pmax=59.6&pfrom=16.5&pto=59.5&start=6
and later I'll wear ballet pumps to go out. If I wear any make up it'll be some lip glass and mascara. I want to get some colour in my face.

Hope we'll both be wearing our Raybans ellsbel!

Hi - was searching for the right place to share this, this seemed like a good thread!

I'm on a budget but my skin is super sensitive and the only brand I've found that helps is Dermalogica - which is so crazy expensive I can't afford it most of the time.

Just seen my local salon offering a discount on this brand and thought it was worth sharing :)

Hello fabbers, and welcome to new joiners, hope you've all had a fab Friday.

Got back from holiday this evening. Got the washing on and aiming to unpack tonight rather than spend days tripping over the suitcases which is my usual post holiday routine... often too tired after travelling to do much.

Am told I am looking very well and my face is slimmer and I've lost weight round the middle, but will see what the scales and jeans say in the morning - sports kit doesn't tell you much, and I am not sure if my face just looks slimmer because it's a bit more tanned. Anyway, am feeling good and motivated to stick to a healthy routine which is the main goal and I enjoyed the trip.

Tomorrow morning I am going to a sale of pre-loved clothes so might treat myself to something new on a budget. Am off to the hairdresser afterwards which always makes me feel good. Aiming to do a home facial in the morning and fit in a home manicure and pedicure before going back to work so I look my best when I get back to work.

Right, better get back to the unpacking - night all x

indie welcome back from your holiday. Can't wait to read about it.

sugarbaby you will all be in my thoughts.

ruby I hope you get your slimming world mojo back soon.

Next week, things are back to normal in the chanie household as DS is back at school. Although it's been nice having some time off work, it's hardly been restful. I had a really busy day yesterday, so I was knackered today and no fabbing. I took the children to the IKEA creche again. Whilst they were playing, I popped to the restaurant for some smoked salmon and a bread roll, along with a complementary cuppa and free WiFi. Really nice to have a child free hour!!!

Ellsbel, Wayne is insecure. He has no confidence in the fact that I really like him. I keep on telling him again and again how much I like him and why, but he keeps expecting me to dump him as soon as we have a minor disagreement. As time goes by he will become more confident that I am with him because I really like him, I have fun with him and I want him in my life.

It is heartbreaking to watch someone you Love dying. I will never forget how traumatic it was to watch my oldest sister Cathy dying of stomach cancer and my Mother slowly fading away after a massive stroke. It is equally hard when someone dies very quickly and unexpectedly, as it takes longer to sink in that the person has died and you do not get an opportunity to say 'goodbye'.

    Stay strong Ellsbel

    Ruby thanks for your sympathy

Ruby, Wayne earns more in a day than I do in a week, so he point blank refuses to allow me to pay for anything on our dates. It is nice to feel cared for and treated on our dates. It his attempts to give me cash handouts on the slightest whim that I find it easy to say no to. He really means well, but I do not want to take advantage of his generous nature.

Indie glad to hear you had a good holiday

Good morning all. Well, if my scales are to be trusted, I am now down to the weight I was when I first moved to London 9 years ago. At my heaviest I was over a stone and a half heavier which was about three and a half years ago in 2012 when I turned 40. Was a difficult year emotionally and I was on the "brownie a day" diet.... Not one I would recommend as the healthiest.

Still got a way to go, but it does mean on the BMI scale I am now considered overweight rather than obese which sounds better!

    Hello lovely ladies

Well what can I say my baby boy married his beautiful bride and the sun shone down and blessed us all. A truly perfect day.

It was only a very small and intimate affair, just about a dozen of us, my dad managed to attend, my sister was did the photos.. (I'll try and post a couple, I'll need to get DS2 to help me).

I got loads of compliments about my outfit and everyone said I look well. (Ha, ha - our little secret). I honestly don't think anyone has sussed that I have had "a bit of work done" - only DS2 is aware that I went for some "special facials";). My secret is safe but to be honest I don't really mind if anyone does find out, it's nothing to be ashamed of.

I had a little weep first thing managed to hold it all together. I wore jewellery that my husband bought me so he was there too. It was a truly fabulous and memorable day.

Sugarbabes - hope you are ok, losing people we love and care about is truly heartbreaking. Take care of yourself, my dear.

Maman - some great purchases there. I have never tried fit flops but I have a friend who swears by them. I didn't realise they made such pretty ones. Do your me remember the old Scholl clogs that everyone raved about, I could not get on with them but I admit the fit flops do look more comfortable. I might give them a whirl. I actuLly have a poorly toe at the moment, such a nuisance.

Indie - nice to see you had a good holiday. Great news about the weight loss. I too am now overweight rather than obese. I agree it is a psychological boost.

May is going to be difficult food wise but I'm not going to fret - I'll just make healthy choices where I can but I'm not going to be a killjoy and refuse all the nice delicacies.

And prosecco is made from grapes after all. :rotfl:

RUbyslippers - don't be harsh on yourself - you are doing really well. Anyway once the babies are mobile you will be run off your feet, that will help you slim.:rotfl:

Char - welcome. I'm another one with super sensitive skin. I do like dermalogica as a rule but even the ultra calming moisturiser isn't really doing it for me at the moment. I am using it but it's not enough. I'm currently using up some bio oil at night and my skin is just drinking that up. I think I shall go back to making my own facial oils for night use. I think my skin really needs oils rather creams these days.

Hello to Shandy, Chaney, Ellsbell - thanks for all your good wishes. Loving all your updates.

Going to have a little walk today and a potter in the garden and try and eat healthily. Washing machine is on and I need to blitz the bathroom and have a bit of a tidy round.

I think thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Hello Ladies,

I have now lost 1 stone 12 pounds in weight so far. :j

I am still obese at 15 stones and 6 pounds, but I am heading in the right direction. I am going to continue to make healthy eating choices and make sure I am getting some form of exercise every day.

I have lost 3 inches from my back fat

    4 inches from my waist

4 inches from the widest part of my waist

    3.5 inches from my hips

3 inches from my left thigh

2.5 inches from my right thigh

1 inch from each of my left and right knees

1 inch from my left arm and 1.5 inches from my right arm ( I am right handed)

I am overjoyed with how quickly my body shape is changing :j

I always comfort eat when I am grieving, but I am mostly eating really well and not worrying too much if I have a day when only fatty foods will satisfy my hunger. I will not sabotage my own weight loss.

I have this new beautifully fitted size 14 red leather Kaleidoscope jacket that I am really looking forward to wearing. I can get it on and do the zip up, but it is a poor fit at the moment. Hopefully in about 2 months time it will be the perfect fit. I have so many items of clothing that I know will start fitting me again over the next few months, but this is my favourite item.

Hi to all. I posted here last year and then RL got in the way as did a major bout of frumpiness but I've been lurking again for a while and you've inspired me.
So - in the last month
    1. Changed my hair colour for the first time in many years. Wasn't sure if it was all right but I got a ton of compliments at work - even from the ones who never normally say anything nice!
    2. Donated a load of perfume that didn't suit me and was hanging around "just in case". Started a bottle of Black musk perfume oil which is gorgeous - or at least makes me feel that way.
    3. Have been Kondoing like mad (see Old Style Forum) after the RL break and am now in possession of only clothing/shoes/bags that make me feel good. OH has been supportive and ironed a week's worth of work clothes for me, bless him

It's lovely to be back and to see the progress everyone's made!
    Looking ahead

    Good morning all.

Well, I've had a bit of a "trying on session" this morning and I've concluded I am now just the slimmest I have been since I moved to London in 2007. I could get into a pair of jeans that I last wore before I moved here - possibly 2005/6, and a jacket from the same time, and a cover up I bought at my previous slimmest in London that was a bit snug over the bust when bought now fits. Some Hobbs linen skirts that I bought around 2007/8 that had got snug around the waist are now loose but still wearable and a vest top I bought some years ago and never wore because I concluded it was too clingy now looks a good fit.:j

Am trying to work out the minimum clothes I need to buy to get through the summer and make the most of the clothes I have got - want to look good as I am but not spend too much as I plan to be smaller by next summer.

In the pre loved sale I got a benetton linen skirt and a white company wrap jersey cardigan that still had the labels on and a sleeveless top and a gold handbag all for under £40 - probably more expensive than a charity shop, but in very good condition.

Also bought a couple of summer weight trousers in Oasis yesterday that I think will just about be smart enough for the office but not too smart to wear at home, one in a stone colour (am trying to avoid the beige word!) which will go with everything, and one in a deep green that will also go with a lot in my wardrobe. I think I need a couple of fitted tops to go with the linen skirts and they will then work for the office too. I also bought a peach t fitted t shirt with a lacy front which I didn't really need, but it will be nice for nights out.

Off to Eltham Palace to have a look at the art deco fair this morning then meeting friends to go to a local fair where some bands are playing this afternoon. Aiming not to drink but time will tell if my willpower is strong enough... I really want to cut down on the alcohol - not because I drink that much, but because I invariably get hungry when I have more than a couple and of course not for salad either!

Sugarbaby, well done with the weight loss and pleased to hear you aren't letting things with Wayne progress too fast.

Susan, welcome back - I need to do some serious Kondoing too.

LessonsLearned, glad to hear the wedding went well and your outfit got so many complements.
