Hello and welcome scatterbrain, and good luck with your goals:)
Maman, I have some gold fit flops; they're ok but you know you're wearing them, if you know what I mean? I've certainly got shoes and sandals that I've paid much less for, that are far more comfortable!

    Good Morning Ladies,

The sun is shining and it really does lift my mood to wake up to the sun shining through my bedroom window.

I have not had a decent night of sleep since learning that my eldest brother George had died suddenly on the morning on my birthday. My sisters did not want to ruin my birthday and my date with Wayne, so I was not told until the evening of my Birthday. I am getting on with my life, but feel as if I am in limbo until his Funeral. The post mortem has been done, so we now know that he died of an Acute heart attack. His Funeral is next Tuesday which is my brother Harvey's 61st Birthday. :(

There are so many family Birthdays in May, so I am busy buying lots of birthday cards and gift bags. I had pre bought bargain gifts for most of the family, so I am prepared for all of the birthdays. ;)

I am still dating Wayne, I like him, but he is constantly trying to spend far too much money and is always trying to give me financial handouts. I keep trying to explain to him, that even though I only have a part time cleaner job, I am financially stable and I like being independent. I am not sure it is getting through to him though. :(

I went to a family Christening on Sunday and it was a very lavish affair. I made a real effort and I painted my nails and toe nails with gold Maybelline nail polish. I wore black mascara and gold eye shadow with clear lip gloss.

I wore my new Kaleiscope purple dress and new lilac Together long summer weight coat. I had on my new 3 inch lotus black patent leather sling backs. The dress has lots of beading and sequins over every inch of the dress with a cowl neck and a cowl back which was low enough to look good without having most of my back on show. My 15 year old son seemed astonished when I walked into the Living room in my outfit. He said 'you look nice' which from him was high praise indeed! I had my new Osprey black patent leather handbag on my arm and as it was sunny, my Ralph Lauren Polo dark brown sunglasses. I got lots of compliments from family members at the Christening Reception. :j

The food was exceptionally good and there was lots of alcohol and soft drinks to satisfy all of the adults and children. There was lots of fenced off outdoor space for the children to play in and a whole table of sweets complete with bags and scoops. The children and the young at heart with a sweet tooth were very happy. :T

The DJ's were the best and kept us all dancing all night. In fact, everyone was having such a great night, they did not want it to end. :)

Wow!! That sounds like some party sugarbaby and your outfit was really glam!!

It sounds as if Wayne either feels he's showing affection by wanting to treat you or it could be it feeds his ego to 'splash the cash'. Either way, I'm with you as a relationship where he spends loads of money and you don't isn't very equal. I'm sure the last thing you want to feel like is a 'kept woman' even if that's not his intention. Keep telling him and maybe it'll sink in. :)

I've been lurking for a while, I signed up last night and am currently working my way from the beginning of the thread up to the latest posts, ergo I haven't read the most recent posts.
What I like about this thread is that it is I will, rather than I won't (drink as much eat as much etc)

My short term goals - at least until I get to the end of the thread
    1. I will moisturise (hands and face) more often - at least 3X daily
    2. I will shower/wash my hair at least 3X weekly instead of thinking I can get away with lank, greasy tired hair 'cos I've only got work tomorrow
    3. I will compliment someone every day on their clothing, make up, shoes etc

And of course wear perfume every day!

I'm sure there's more and I will add to my list as I plow through the thread but my goal is I will rather than I will not.

    Let's see how it goes...

Welcome.:hello:I'm completely with you on goals 1 and 2 and goal 3 is a very kind thought. The only fixed night I go out regularly every week is a Monday so I always want to wash my hair for that. My hair needs washing every other day but as there are 7 days in a week I inevitably skip a day to catch up and I'm always sorry!

I started pampering my hands and nails last night. I always put handcream on in the morning after my shower and one tip I'd share is to keep some cream (and I've got cuticle oil and a buffer) near where you sit to relax of an evening and do a mini-manicure then. There's enough mindless stuff on TV to cope with multitasking!:D

Thanks ellsbel. I'd heard that they take a bit of getting used to because in exercising your calves they can make them ache to start with. In what way do you find yours uncomfortable?

Another glorious day here. I'm not planning to go bare legged any time soon but I did do a defuzz this morning and filed and creamed my feet.;)

    Thinking of you LL.:A

Wahoo.......brilliant weather.......the sun shines on the righteous and all that.

Just cooked my boys a huge full English so the "condemned man" has had a hearty last meal as a singleton.:rotfl:

Am bathed and fragrant, just need to apply the slap and style my hair.

Today I will be mainly wearing a Silky jacques Verte pale champagne gold matching coat and dress, £50 in the sales, big strAw hat charity shop £4 :rotfl:, nude shoes, already had, and a clutch bag which was a gift from DIL.

I will bring out the diamonds - gift from my husband.

Feel a bit emotional, missing my darling, but I've had a little weep so hopefully will get through the day without disgracing myself.

Your diamonds go with you so a bit of 'him' is there.

Since losing a few close loved ones last year I've taken to wearing something of them to any family event I think they'd want to be at.

In 2 weeks we go to Buckingham Palace with DD 19, so she can receive her DoE Gold award. I haven't finalised what I'm wearing but I know my granny's gold and pearl rose broach will be worn! My grandmother also loved yellow roses so I planted one, along with a apricot coloured one with the same name as my great aunt, and honeysuckle for my maternal grandfather - all lost last year. I often take my cup of tea out on the patio, and we have a chat. Pure sentimentality, but it makes me feel good.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

Maman, Wayne thinks he is showing affection. He gets carried away with himself, forgetting I am not a 'helpless' woman. I have to keep reminding him that I do not need him in my life, I want him in my life. He is always getting ahead of himself, talking about us living together after we get married! Thoroughly alarming to me, as he is getting mega serious far too soon. I am not thinking that far ahead, just taking each date as they come and seeing where they lead. As he is quite a smoker and drinker, we are total opposites on that score. He was trying to give me money again this week, but I refused it without Wayne feeling rebuffed. It is not all a bed of roses, we have had minor disagreements, but we are talking to each other to resolve any issues that arise. We are both taking this as a learning curve. I have been single and independent for just over 20 years, so know I can be happy on my own. I have had a lot of fun with Wayne though.

LL I hope the Wedding was a resounding success. Your outfit sounds very glamorous. I hope everyone including you had the time of their lives.

Maman the fit flops make my feet ache after a while! Sounds daft but I think it's because the top part and the toe thong are quite inflexible so my foot is never quite comfortable, if you know what I mean; I never usually have any problems with toe post sandals or ordinary flip flops - maybe it's just the style I chose that's not quite right for me.
LL the outfit sounds stunning and I hope the day matched it:)
Shandy, your sentiment about taking someone with you when you wear something of theirs is so true, and I think your plants and the sitting and chatting to them is a beautiful way of keeping people with you:)
Sugarbaby I'm so sorry for your loss; within my own family there's a heartbreaking situation going on where there's only a short time left and it's a horrible thing; I'm glad you're seizing your opportunities and having fun - the Christening sounds fab, as does your outfit:)
As for Wayne, it's good that you know what you want and won't be rushed. I reckon that sometimes men can be just as insecure as us women sometimes are, and maybe his flashing the cash is being done to impress you in the hope of keeping you with him? As time goes on and he feels a bit more sure of himself, hopefully he'll get the message that you're interested in him, not his wallet!
Another sunny day today. I'm not braving sandals yet but I'm wearing a long sleeved white Tee and dark jeans with white converse. I've some errands to run and some visiting but I hope to grab an hour on a chair in the garden later:) minimal make up today but I don't think I look too scary!:D
    Have a good day, all.

LL - hope you have an amazing day today - and of course wishing the bride and groom every happiness :D really pleased to hear that your treatments have been a success.

So sorry for your loss Sugarbaby, what an awful thing to happen. My OH is/ was a bit like Wayne, offering to pay for everything and 'flashing the cash', as it were! With him it's more because he has always had money, therefore he doesn't know what it's like to have to budget or turn down invitations because he couldn't afford to go. He's a bit better now (I've introduced him to the joys of things like Groupon!) and to be fair he is very generous, and just didn't realise that what was normal for him could be overwhelming for others.

I'm a fitflop fan Maman; I usually do a lot of walking on holiday and they are the only sandals I've found which were comfy all day! They did take a bit of getting used to but more for the soles not being squishy like usual flip flips, I've never found the top part uncomfortable.

Trying to work out what to wear today, all my summer clothes seem to have vanished, I didn't wear them last year as I was pregnant! Lost my Slimming World motivation this week and was eating everything in sight, I think because I'm coming down with a cold, the babies are coughing and were up all night :( hoping to rediscover it soon, preferably with some more sleep!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j
