Hope everyone's joining in in Fab Friday?

As I'd only had it on for an hour or two yesterday I'm wearing the red Reiss top again. Today it's with black jeans and red ankle boots and black jacket when I went out.

Very wise to take your time over foundation chanie. It's not just the cost but important to get the colour right too.

    Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Definitely agree re taking time over make up choice. I'm off to John Lewis tomorrow, going to try some bobbi Brown but will definitely not be buying it tomorrow, want to make the right choices, and plan on trying clinique and benefit too before deciding, will get dh to the some photos of me in natural light on the digital camera so I can look back at all of them before I decide.

Love the fab Friday idea. Met my friend today with the babies, only went to a cafe before mooching round shops but I made the effort. Straightened hair, make up, wearing leggings, longline vest, navy sheer shirt with gold buttons and a floral scarf. Perfume as always now. Feel so much better. Keep getting compliments which is so lovely, I've looked like death warmed up the past few years.
Got a nice weekend planned. Off out for a meal with the kids once dh gets in from work. Kids have got all dressed up, so nice, its a tradition I want to start of 'family fridays', won't always be meals out but I'm going to budget £100 per month for it, so we can fit different things in, whether it's a nice meal/ takeaway/ film night with ice creams/ bowling/board game night etc.
Got some time alone tomorrow for a but of shopping, waxing appointment and nail appointment. Then my nieces christening on Sunday. I have a gorge new dress and have borrowed some lovely shoes of my friend. With this weather realised I need a jacket of some sort, hence tomorrow's shopping, going to get the girls some new tights as well as I doubt it will be legs out weather!!

Off to fab myself before dh gets in, touch up male up and perfume and perhaps get changed.
    Have a fab Friday everyone.

All fabbed this Friday, met my bestie for our monthly coffee, natter and shopping session. We have been friends since we were about 22 and 23 years old, oh my goodness, where did the time go?

I wore a striped Phase 8 sweater dress with black leggings and ankle boots, plus of course warm cardi, pashmina and duvet coat. Drove through some nasty sleet and hail storms, but fate smiled on us while we were mooching around the little town:D Goodness only knows what clothes to pack for a month away, space is at a premium so I think I will be taking a few proper winter clothes, loads of mid weight to layer and a very few out and out summer clothes, I can always to a charity shop raid if we have a heatwave:rotfl:

Have a great weekend everyone, and don't get casting any clouts just yet:eek:;)

maddie good on you for fab Friday. I always pack lightly when going away too and just try to manage with what I have.

Last night, we went out for a meal for SILs birthday and I wore black cords, with an olive silk top and my suede shoe-boots. I made an effort with make up and the inlaws said it looked nice.

I'm still in love with TKMAXX and thought it was worth popping in for SILs birthday present. We wanted to give her money, but still give her a little something to open. We got her some socks and I found some NAR$ nail varnishes reduced to £5, so grabbed one of those too. I'm far too impatient (and fussy) to sift through the clothes rails, but like the accessories and homewares.

I bought myself a dress last week. I've been eyeing it up for a couple of weeks and it was reduced to £25, so I snapped it up. It has short sleeves, but they end at my widest part (my boobs), so it looks really unflattering. I'm going to get the sleeves altered to cap sleeves and the dress will look just as nice.

Due to the late night, the children are still in bed, so I'm going yo use the opportunity to henna my hair, so I'd better get moving. Have a nice day.

    Hello everyone!

I haven't been on in a while, feeling decidedly un-fab! I'm busy and unmotivated, struggling ith depression so keeping busy helps but means I don't lok after myself. Eating too much, drinking too much coffee and getting by on the bare minimum of self care. I look and feel a mess. Must do something about it!!!

On the plus side, I'm 4 weeks away from the end of my degree, and I've just sent off a job application (eek!- I haven't had a job in years due to depression and a bunch of other things). I'm terrified! It's only a zero hour contract / bank staff but could be a start! I haven't told anyone in RL in case I don't even get an interview, but fingers crossed.

I'm having a chilled out morning, so I think I'll do my nails and have a bath.

    Good morning lovely ladies

Just checking up on you all. I'm at my friends and we are off out to Stratford in a bit, a nice lunch and maybe a bit of retail therapy.......

Bought some fab Gok Wan trousers tbe other day, reduced to £9 - fabulous fit and very flattering. They make me look 1/2 stone lighter. What's not to like. I love it when I find something that really flatters.

Iris I like the idea of combining Fab Friday with Family Friday. You will be building a memory bank of fond reminiscences for your children for years to come.

My husband used to work away a lot so we used to make the weekends really special with lots of family time. Saturday nights were our thing. Even when we were skint we would make it special. Film or games nights with nice food and treats and then Sunday out in the country with a picnic. The boys still recall those times with great fondness.

Beluga - good luck with the degree and the job application. It's a busy time for you but just try and spend a few minutes each day fabbing. You'll soon reap the rewards.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

So, countdown to the end of your degree course beluga, that's quite a milestone.:T

I think you've done the right thing applying for a job. Even if this first application comes to nothing then it's a start to build on. Once you have a job to give you a structure in your day, you'll start to have something to get fabbed up for.

I agree with LL, start by doing a few basics and build from there.

I have a route that I take around TKMaxx just looking at the bits I like. I can rarely be bothered with the clothes either unless I'm looking for something specific but I always look at the handbags, shoes, towels, bedding and stationery.:)

Your outfit sounds very good. It's really worth investing in 'smart casual' as that's what we seem to wear most these days. It's not that I don't like a smart dress or skirt but having decent jeans/trousers and tops is essential for my lifestyle.

It's about 6 weeks until I go on my sunshine holiday. We're away for almost three weeks so I'll need quite a few things. I'm almost sorted for daytime wear both by the pool/sea and sightseeing. I think I'm going to get some harem trousers and perhaps a new maxi dress to add to evening wear and I'd like some everyday sandals. I'm not a fan of toe post so I'm thinking of something like these:

    393028.jpg

and I've got some Birkenstocks and ballet flats.

I'm trying to work out best time to get my hair cut/highlighted and my nails done. Decided to have the shellac taken off this week and then done again just before I go away. I'll miss the painted nails but I think a few weeks of pampering will do them good. I'm going to put off having my hair done for a couple more weeks then it should be just right if I just call in for a fringe trim.

This might seem like a lot of preparation just for a holiday but it's more than that. I'm making sure that when (and if) the sun shines here I'll be ready. I'm being more careful with my body and foot creaming too.

:hello:if you're lurking ellsbel, not seen you around for a while.

Maman - I love all your holiday prep. Mine will involve looking at the long term weather forecast next week and then stuffing the caravan to the gun whales with all my normal personal care items, toiletries, a large selection of nail polish and as many clothes and shoes/boots that may or not be appropriate :rotfl::rotfl:, plus of course almost as much for dear dog in the way of food, bedding, clean towels etc.

One thing is for sure, there is no way I am going without my electric blanket and the comfort foods of Camp*ells soups and A*brosia rice pudding. We will eat out quite a bit and have lots of healthy salads, but if I have a goodly supply of the above named items I should be able to survive anything:rotfl:

I was tempted to organise having my nails shellacked, but at the time I would need to have them removed, I should be back visiting old haunts and want to be spending that time catching up with old friends, colleagues etc.

    Hello everyone.

I posted here for a while ages ago and now I would like to jump in again.

I've just got back from a bit of a shopping spree. I've been looking round the charity shops for ages and found nothing in my size or style, so I had to hit the high street. I bought three basic tops which can all be worn with skirts I already own, Plus a couple of pairs of jeans and a skirt to bulk out the rest. I didn't need the skirt, but I really like it.

I thought I'd put on a lot of weight but it turns out I haven't, it was just my perception as I was feeling frumpy!

I've ditched the make up again because it's just not really me and I don't like the feel of it all that often. Hope to continue with fabbing with your help. Have a good weekend.

Good to see you Alex. Well done on buying tops to go with what you've got (and we can forgive you the skirt if you really like it).
Obviously your choice about the make up
Sugarbaby feels the same. Personally I know I feel better with light make up. Each to his (or her) own.
