My local BHS is quite dated so I never go in there, other than at Xmas, as their gift section is okay (particularly for those people where you don't know what to buy!!!). My thoughts are with all of the staff.
Maman I like the outfit you posted. I like the idea of a playsuit, but haven't seen any I like, so yours a is a good alternative, which can also be work separately.0 -
I had an appointment with the Immunology Consultant at the big hospital in the big city today. She had written requesting that I go in soon, rather than waiting until mid-June as she had lots of test results back:eek:
I wore a dusky pink wool jacket over a pink/grey/black jumper and warm black wool trousers and applied my new make-up. (It has been sleety/snowy and hail storms today)
The bad news is that basically I don't have an immune system, the good news is that I have been put forward for antibody replacement treatment (another rest of life treatment to add to the one I already had), it is very expensive and has to be approved by a committee and hopefully will commence early June. The Doctor is amazing and wanted to see me before my extended holiday to make sure that I have antibiotics to take with me and also to have another type of Pneumonia vaccination to see if there is any response. It is wonderful to have some answers after all this time , I really am hoping that I can reclaim some of my lost health. I have elected to do the treatments myself rather than have to make 4 hour journeys for infusions that would last several hours, but am now a little windy about it as I have learnt it will be quite a lot of fluid to inject under the skin weekly, fingers crossed that I will be able to manage it:(
CS session tomorrow so must look out clothes (warm) to wear and have an early night I think, didn't sleep too well last night:D
Some great purchases LL and Maman, canny shoppers both of you. Indie - have a great holiday. Sugarbaby - so sorry for your loss. Rubyslippers - I hope that your babies settle into a better sleep pattern soon. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
maddiemay oh what a double-edged sword that is. You will surely benefit from the ability to reduce your travelling for treatment, and you may be able to plan to fit in with real life. I guess having two rest-of-life conditions is not what you were expecting.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

maddie fingers crossed the treatment works for you. I'm sure you will manage your treatment yourself, once you get the hang of it - much better to do it in the comfort of your own home than going to hospital.0

I'm glad you've got some answers maddie. Any chance you could have some help from your GP or practice nurse until you get the hang of doing it yourself?0

thank you for kind comments everyone.
Maman - I have to see a practice nurse tomorrow for something else, they are all nice and helpful so I will mention the situation to her and see what reaction I get from her:)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hi everyone.
I thought I'd post and see if it's OK to join in? I have been reading through the thread the past few days and really enjoyed reading it.
I have found it at a great time as fabbing is exactly what I've been doing these past few months.
I'm in my twenties, married with four kids, and found myself anxious, low, definitely frumpy. I have made a good job turning it around and feel tonnes better already.
I have been exercising at home with weights, HIIT routines, and clean eating. I have just started 5:2 today is my second fast day and finding so much more manageable than I thought I would. I've lost 12lbs and dropped two dress sizes, the eating has improved my hair and skin no end and I generally feel loads calmer.
Really enjoyed the posts about food and how it affects us, Im a big believer too!
Some things I've successfully implemented that have made me feel tonnes better :
Oil cleansing method every night (I use coconut oil)
Aldi day and night creams (just as good as the liz earle I had before this)
Been to the dentist, saw the hygienist.
Bought nice new glasses that suit me a million times better.
Make up every morning.
Perfume every morning and before bed (live the idea of finding my scent and sticking to one perfume so will do that when this stuff runs out).
Body moisturiser after every shower.
Foot cream and hand cream a few times each day.
Eating healthy, lots of nuts, seeds, and good fats.
Vitamins.
Walking a lot.
Had my hair cut and coloured by a lovely mobile hairdresser, going to stick to every 8 weeks.
Things I am doing/in the process of doing:
Getting my nails done (hoping to make this a monthly treat)
Getting my eyebrows and legs waxed (again hope to make this regular)
Starting 5:2 - for the health benefits as much as anything else.
Going to start investing in nice quality clothes as I have hardly anything since last two babies.
Investing in quality make up.
Going to buy superdrugs rip off Liz Earle for mornings.
Getting a cosmetic procedure on my teeth where I've lost some enamel and have erosion.
All this concentrating on myself has had such a positive effect on all other areas of my life! I have been fabbing up my house, I have a plan for it, I've created a fab budget so now I can take charge of my finances and have budgeted money for grooming, clothes, treats, going out etc. We have also planned to make weekends well spent, and have decided that Friday night will be family night and Saturday will be date night. Tomorrow we are all going to a fab fifties diner for tea where the kids can make ice creams and have the most amazing milkshakes.
We can't really get out for dates atm so date night will be takeaway/ steak dinner, wine and cake and a film. We will sit together at the table and make time for each other.
Thanks for the fab thread everyone I've loved reading.0 -
Came on to make a quick post but just read your post iris and WOW!! Of course we'd love you to join in but you've made amazing progress already. Keep it up!:T
I remember having just the one child in my twenties and feeling frumpy alongside my own mum. To take yourself in hand with four:eek: is just great.
Just wanted to say that I went to TKMaxx today and bought some Falke tights for just £2 in the clearance bit. They're 8 denier in a flesh colour and will be perfect if I have to go anywhere in the next few months where bare legs don't cut it.;)
Was all fabbed up and out of the door early this morning for a meeting. Meeting proved stressful but much easer to handle when you feel good abut yourself. I wore black pencil skirt and Reiss orange/red long sleeved top but with heels and black opaques as it still fees like winter here!
Hope you get some luck with the practice nurse maddie. I was thinking they might be prepared to 'train' you to manage yourself over time.0 -
It is definitely still winter here......:rotfl: it's sooooo cold outside. Yesterday we had several flurries of snow and sleet and the wind would cut you in half. I'm currently snuggled up on the sofa with my fake fur throw and the cat so I'm nice and toasty.
Maddie - I feel sure your GP and practice nurse will be helpful and supportive. I hope your new treatment is successful and all goes well.
Welcome Iris. All I can say is Wow! You are definitely some fantastic life style changes.
I'm off to visit a friend for a few days tomorrow. Should be fun.0 -

Am pleased you liked my recommendation, maman. £2 is a great price. Let me know how you get on with them.
iris welcome to the thread. You have done so well, so far.
I'm off work for a couple of days, as DS has some time off school. I wanted to use me new bag and watch today, but the children were playing up and I had quite a bit of running around to do, so my priority was getting them out of the house. Still, I was presentable when I went out.
Whilst out, I got my eyebrows threaded and under arms waxed. Tomorrow, I'm going to henna my hair, as I haven't done it for a while.
A couple of days ago, I went to a Bobbi Brown counter with a colleague who wanted to return a foundation shed bought as she wasn't happy with the colour. The staff told her the colour was right as the other colour was too pale. Whilst there, I asked to try the foundation I'm thinking of buying. Anyway, the Sales Assistant matched me to a lighter shade. I'm now going yo have to investigate both shades again. Luckily, I'm in no rush to buy a foundation as I've been stung in the past, so I'm taking my time to make sure I'm happy with the shade.0
