Congratulations to DIL on getting the job. I, too, do some work in a HR field and it's hard for individuals not to feel upset in the redundancy situation. However much the words on the page say the post is being made redundant it still feels like personal rejection. DIL is one of the lucky ones.:T

I'll certainly get Bobbi Brown to try out that foundation on me chanie.

The botox should have kicked in just in time for the civil ceremony LL.:D Totally agree about the young girls though. I think their time and money would be better spent on a good skincare routine, healthy eating, exercise etc etc.

Definitely joining in Fab Friday today. We're off to the theatre later so definitely want to look good for that. Unfortunately weather has taken a turn for the worse otherwise we could walk as it's a local place attached to the university. Depending on whether rain stops I'll either be wearing heels or boots and work up from there!;)
  • Congratulations to your DIL LL :D

I've been made redundant too - many years ago now, but I still remember how it felt like the end of the world. It's true though that with hindsight it was the best thing that could have happened to me, not least because the company I was working for went into administration not long afterwards, and I would have got zero redundancy pay….. my friend is still receiving something like 20p per year from them as she's on their creditors list!

Not feeling very fab this Friday, seem to have lost my SW mojo a bit :( ate everything in sight yesterday (after my SW weigh in!), which usually happens at TOTM but leaves me drained of energy the next day and craving more chocolate/ cake/ sugar in general. I've ordered some new vitamins which will hopefully help.

Hoping to get back in the SW & exercise routine soon; worked out that if I lose 1 lb a week then I'll be at my target weight by the time of my partner's birthday in August, that would be amazing!!

Lovely to hear you so happy sugarbaby :) my OH works in haulage and is also quite traditional in paying for things. I was up front with him from the beginning about my debt which I think he appreciated (the honesty, not the debt!) - his last girlfriend told him she had £8K of debt, he gave her the money to pay it off, then the bailiffs arrived to collect the other £60K she owed and hadn't told him about…..
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

Hello Ladies I went on a date with Wayne on Thursday night, where we got to be completely alone together at last. Mind you, it cost him £55 for the night in a budget Hotel. This was the only practical solution to the fact that he is a lodger in his married brother's home and as his brother has 2 young children, I can not spend time with Wayne in his home. We did not even stay the night, we just spent a few hours together getting to know each other better.

I had a fabulous Friday despite the continuous rain all day and evening.

Wayne and I went on another date. This time to a pub we both like that has a DJ playing on Friday nights. We spent lots of time slow dancing with each other. We talked and Wayne is of the opinion that because we are so happy together, we are both going to have to fight for this relationship. I agree, that there will be other people who will try to bring negativity into our relationship, but together we will be strong enough to overcome the naysayers.

It is a real relief not to have to wear make up on my dates with Wayne if I can not be bothered, as he finds me 'beautiful' without it. I wore my red kaleidoscope vest top, which has a very intricate back to it and silver diamante on the front of the top and Wayne really liked the top. I wore it with a long black skirt, my red waterfall cardigan and my black leather boots. I wore my black leather long jacket and was carrying my everyday black leather bag. I wore Diamonique and silver drop earrings with silver chain and pendant, silver and Diamonique ring and my Ingersoll stainless steel diamond watch. Wayne was very attentive and did not want to move away from my side. I am still feeling really comfortable with him. He makes me smile and laugh so much and vice versa.

My daughter and son are amazed that Wayne wants to spend so much time with me, but I am just as keen on Wayne as he is on me. All previous relationships have fizzled out after a few dates, as I have high standards which most men sadly fell well short of. They can both see how happy I am though, so they are in turn both happy for me. Mind you my daughter is a wee bit jealous of all of the 'wining and dining' Wayne has treated me to.

My eldest daughter is feeling the black dog of clinical depression at the moment, so I am concerned about how she is coping. She is physically disabled and is unable to walk, and she also has Type 1 Diabetes and is Insulin dependent. She usually puts a brave face on and makes the most of her life, but when she is clinically depressed, she has the darkest of darkest days at times. She is beautiful and it is not just me that thinks she is. She has a lively sense of humour and she is intelligent and a very caring person. She has now been married for 2 years and is very happy with her husband, and he is with her.

Unfortunately, my eldest brother has died very suddenly. Post Mortem will establish the exact cause of death, but it is most likely to prove to be a fatal heart attack. He has had heart issues for a number of years and had open heart Surgery twice and somehow made a good recovery. He really liked to live life to the full and cram as much living as he could into each day. He was very adventurous and loved to travel to the Caribbean Islands. He will be sorely missed by his long standing Wife, his adult children, our Family and his friends.

My brother's death has made me want to grab this chance of happiness with Wayne even more. I am not being as cautious with Wayne as I have been with other men in my past, because I felt as if this was the right time to throw caution to the wind, because Wayne feels right for me.

Bless you Sugar, my only Brother died suddenly aged 40 in 2004 and I miss him everyday. His death was sudden as well, a brain haemorrhage and I now try to make the most of now and do the things I want to do when I can do them.
You take care Hun and enjoy your relationship with Wayne, he sounds like a lovely man. xx

So sorry to hear of your loss sugarbaby but delighted to hear your brother lived life to the full. You're right to do the same.:)
  • So sorry to hear of your loss sugarbaby. I hope you continue to be very happy with Wayne :D

I forgot to say, we've tried feeding the babies more and more, but they still can't go through the night without being hungry! Hopefully being in their own room in cot beds will help, we plan to put them in there after the bank holiday, as we go away for a few days then. They're still in our room at the moment in cribs, but it's a tight squeeze now!

    Hello all

Sorry to hear about your brother sugarbaby, glad to hear things continue to go well with your new man.

Good to hear the surgery/botox has gone well lessonslearned. Glad that all has worked out well with the DIL/DS jobs.

The days seem to be racing by at the moment. Keeping busy socially and work is busy and interesting.

The podiatrist has concluded the issues I've been having are due to some muscle weakness on the left hand side (hip and glutes) meaning my left knee rolls in when I walk so I just need to do some strengthening exercises to sort it out. He did a good job on my right calf - really found the tight spots and released them. Off for another visit to him tomorrow afternoon.

Today and my Monday off will be about getting holiday ready - facial tomorrow afternoon and want to do a pedicure too - feet are in a decent state after the podiatrist sorted out the calluses so I might just paint the nails myself and save myself a few £ - been an expensive month.

Want to get packed over the next two days too. I fly v early Friday night so Thursday after work I will drive up to the airport and stay over night at a hotel there. So rather than have to pack after work Tues-Thurs will just pack at my leisure and hopefully stop myself from forgetting too many things - one year I forgot my toothbrush and was lucky they had a spare unused as we wouldn't have been going anywhere I could get one for a few days.

I am off to Turkey to one of Jason Vale's juice detox retreats - not that he goes there himself - think if he is onsite ever it's the pricier one in Portugal where he owns the property - Turkey is rented. Anyway, the staff are great, I like the rustic venue - the location in the Mountains is stunning, and I've enjoyed my previous two visits so am really looking forward to it. I am going with a friend and few of the girls we met last time are coming back the same week too.

I am hopeful I will return the lightest I've been since I moved to London 9 years ago - am a bit lighter now than the last couple of times I've been and judging by what I've lost when I've been before I should get down close to the lightest I've been in London anyway. Will still give me plenty of weight to shift, but will be another step in the right direction and a good boost to my healthier lifestyle.

I have been doing a lot of reading about diet and nutrition and am convinced the way to success is to heavily restrict all wheat, added sugars, processed foods in general and up the vegetables, good quality protein and healthy fats. Have been been heading in the right direction the last couple of weeks but more to do - think have lost a few lbs anyway.

Had a nice day out with the ex last weekend (the one I split with in November). It's really nice we're able to hang out as friends now. That's never going to happen with the more short-lived recent relationship - he's go so many emotional issues I've had to cut all contact with him. He was starting to message me again and would flip from saying he had no hopes of us sorting things out to saying he thought it was just timing and it might work in the future to complaining he couldn't stop thinking about me even when he tried to remember how annoying I can be and various other confused statements.... Smooth talking or what!

Had a nice day out yesterday, did a perfume society workshop called how to improve your sense of smell with a friend, went for a healthy lunch after then popped to the market in Marylebone I bought some jewellery in a few weekends ago and found earrings that will really complement a ring I bought there on another stall.

Had a boozy night out with the girls last night, but sticking to vodka, fresh lime and soda seems to have stopped me from getting wildly hungry afterwards or getting a bad hangover. I prefer the taste of wine, but far easier to get badly drunk and end up getting dizzy or worse sick and then spending the next day stuffing myself with unhealthy food and not shifting from the couch. Not very fabulous!

Instead should be good to make a decent start on the holiday prep and planning for my return - want to get my supermarket order ready for when I got home to ensure I keep up the good work on the diet when I get back. No diving straight into a pizza!

Have a good couple of weeks all, enjoy the bank holiday next weekend x

Same from me indie. I love Turkey, hope you get to experience some of the country while you're there.

Treated myself to these from Matalan:

Cheap as chips (£14 in total) but very flattering. Together they make a playsuit which is great for me as normal ones are uncomfortable as I have a long body. Have spent a fun time this morning trying on my holiday clothes and delighted to say that they fit!:j

Interesting discussions on the radio this morning about the demise of BHS. I worked there as a Saturday girl years ago but they've seriously lost their way. They long since did away with a Food Hall when they could have been competing with M&S. They had an excellent lighting department and home stuff generally but allowed it to dwindle. Their wedding stuff including hats was excellent value and they had decent shoes. Instead of capitalising on any of these IMO they filled the shop with frumpy clothes for which there's a very limited market (as M&S are finding). I do feel sorry for staff though and hopefully Philip Green will be called to account for asset stripping.

Dancing tonight so I'll be getting fabbed up for that. Enjoy your day all, whatever you're up to.:)

My sister and I used to spend many a happy hour trying on hats in BHS. And their lighting departments were fantastic. I never did like their clothes much - they always seemed to be a pale imitation of M&S. I seem to recall lots of crimpilene back in the day.

I'm sorry to see them go though. And.....I still miss good old C&A. As for Marks - Apart from the food halls which are fab I hardly set foot in the place these days. Any M&S clothes I buy these days come from charity shops.

Our city used to have some wonderful independent department stores - all with great clothing departments. All gone. All we have left in the city centre now is Debenhams, Next, MAtalan and Primark. We have some of the usual chains, Topshop, Quizz, ZAra etc but I guess the old traditional department stores as we knew them have had their day.

We have one area of the city which is trying very hard and which has a number of nice upmarket boutiques but unfortunately a lot of their ranges really are a bit too young for me.

I received my final dress. A beautiful Jacque Verte lilac lacy number. Just £35. It is so well made, even the lining is perfect - not the usual cheap taffeta or horrid synthetic clingy sweaty polyester they use these days but a high quality satin. The normal rrp for this would have been nearer £150 and even at the JV outlet shop I visit it would have been nearer £100 so at £35 it's a steal.

I seem to have inadvertently stocked up on JV clothes this season .......no idea how that came about. But they do seem to be good quality.

Even the Phase 8 dress I bought recently, whilst lovely had a very disappointing lining. The top layer of the dress is a very pretty champagne coloured lace, lovely lace not the cheap scratchy stuff you sometimes get. The lining is seperate in the form of a slip style underskirt with spaghetti straps. The fabric is horrible and it would definitely not pass any seduction scenes (not that I am looking to seduce anyone just yet rotfl:). I might try it with a proper silky or satin slip and see how that works.

That's another thing......where are all the nice lingerie shops ........

Oh dear you have set me off on one of my clothes shop rants.:rotfl:

All this talk of holidays......hope you all have a fab time. Not long now till I'm off to Barcelona.

Sugarbaby - sorry to hear about your brother. A very sad time for you. My condolences and very best wishes.
