  • I hope you don't mind me joining so late in the year, I was going to wait till the 2017 thread appeared however my new motto is to "Change".

Welcome - a good motto for next year and I think one all of us can get on board with. I can't say I want to change all my life... but quite a lot of it and everyone here is super supportive. Here's to a better 2017 for all of us.

I've been trying to think of a word to sum up what I want to achieve in 2017 as if I try to write down a detailed list of everything I want to do it's just all a bit intimidating. I haven't come up with the right one for me yet. Best I can do at the moment is a phrase "Using my resources wisely" - meaning time, money, possessions and so forth, but though it encapsulates a lot of what I want to do, it's not quite hitting the mark so I shall carry on thinking.
Dad still hanging on.......is it too awful to say I just want it to be over asap. On the plus side he is now much calmer. He has come to terms with what's happening. Whilst I am sorry he has lost his "fighting spirit" I do believe it will make his passing much easier.

I don't think that is awful at all, why would you wish prolonged suffering on anyone?

I know there are lots of issues with euthanasia, but it sometimes feels like the medical profession continue to treat people to keep them going the point if it were an animal everyone would be accusing them of cruelty for not having them put to sleep. I hope when my time comes it's a nice and quick heart attack in my sleep without too much ill health before hand.
    Hello Ladies,
I started off having a really good evening with Wayne in the Hotel on the evening of the 23rd, but it ended up being quite a horrible evening when he insisted we go the pub for a while. He then became very selfish and he kept leaving me sitting on a bar stool on my own while he enjoyed himself. I was not dressed for a night out so I felt out of place and could not summon any self confidence. In the end I just thought to myself, you need to be at home for your Tesco grocery delivery for 7am to 8am so what are you sitting here trying not to fall asleep for. The next time Wayne trotted off, I put my coat on, caught a bus to the Hotel, collected my tote bag from the room and checked out, then I went home by bus. I had to wait around in the cold for the 1st bus, but there were a lot of people around. My 2nd bus was only a 2 minute wait. I finally got a text from Wayne just after 2am simply saying 'Okay'. I was just about to get into my bed, so I did not bother to reply. After all the negative times with Wayne in the past, I have taken stock and I know that I have no desire to have him as a partner. I feel the relationship is dead in the water and I need to look to the future now.

So sorry to hear Wayne has let you down again. I think you've given him enough chances now, so pleased to hear you are looking to the future without him as a partner. You sound like such a warm and positive person and you deserve someone who treats you with love and respect. Being single is better than being with someone like Wayne, and at least you have your lovely family for company.

Right, I must get moving, going to my sister and brother-in-law's for dinner with her mother in law and my mum and dad, so I should put a dab of make up and something nice on.

If don't check in before hand, have a great new year's eve all - I have an eighties TV themed fancy dress night at our local pub with a gaggle of friends so am looking forward to that - and see you in 2017, ready to be fab! xx

Just a quickie to let you know dad died this afternoon. It was quick and painfree.

I now have a chest infection so going to rest. I'll be back on new years day to catch up and start the new thread.

    Bye for now x

I did what they called country dancing when I was a little kid and have been to the odd ceilidh with my social club - good fun and very good exercise. When I have been in Edinburgh the Scottish men take it very seriously - all turn up in their kilts and really know what they are doing. I can't dance every dance - get out of breath!

That's my favourite. I started Scottish Dancing when I was a child and with occasional breaks when my job got in the way I've done it ever since. I went to two Christmas dances, all Scottish and only missed one dance. It's an excellent workout as well as great fun. I'm joining a new class next week in addition to my regular one and plan to go to more social dances (no learning just dance after dance) in 2017. Sadly my usual teacher is unwell so her classes are getting slower and rather boring but I owe her the loyalty to keep going for the time being.

LL I'm so sorry for your loss - you all know that he had come to terms with the inevitable and I'm sure that will be a comfort to you and your sister in time.

Anyone been to the sales yet?

Only the little purse I mentioned in a previous thread. I'm eyeing up a few items that aren't in the sale, but I'm in no rush. I can't really be bothered with the sales (unless it's something I've been eyeing up beforehand).

Mr C bought a tracksuit and trainers with his Xmas money and that's as far as I've got to the shops.

  • LL,

I am so glad for all of your sake's that your Father's death came sooner rather than later, because now his suffering is over. He had a pain free death and was comfortable and had accepted that his time to go had come.

Please know that you and your family will be in my thoughts and in my prayers. I hope you have the physical and emotional strength to take care of yourself through the coming days and weeks. Please make sure you receive support as well as offering support to your sister and children.
