Sorry to hear the interview wasn't great ellsbel. Unfortunately panels often have a preferred candidate in advance so you were unlucky to come up against that. Don't let it put you off trying again. :)

What was it about the way the ladies on the panel were dressed that was so different from you? I was with a friend last night who has quite a high powered job. She wore a figure hugging dress, black jacket and flats although she usually wears killer heels. Unfortunately the look was spoiled because she needed her roots doing and was bursting out of her dress so I wasn't impressed.:p

I'm out for lunch today and a bit of a dilemma as to what to wear. The temperature is 20 degrees and sunny but it doesn't feel 'summery' enough for bare legs. I think it'll be the narrow black trousers with ballet pumps again and maybe a long sleeved top and scarf. I'm going in the car so will take a (boring, black) jacket but may not need to wear it. I really do need some more 'between seasons' clothes like long sleeved shirts/blouses and jackets that are lighter than the tweed and velvet ones I have for winter.

You must be Pizza Express's favourite customer sugarbaby, or maybe not as you never pay full price!:rotfl:

What is it that stops you having a fast day LL? I was just wondering whether it's because you know you'll be eating out (my downfall because then I'm not in control of the menu) or because you have a hearty breakfast and use up too many calories at the start?

    Have a good day all.:)

    Good morning ladies,
Another sunny day, but a definate chill in the air early mornings.

Twinnie, I fell in love with Rome at 16yrs. I have only returned once and was saddened by the number of beggers and homeless people there! I know these days any big city have the same problem, but it will not stop me travelling :)
Enjoy your pamper at the hairdresser.

Sugar, wishing you a speedy recovery :)

Maman, I tend to live in trousers when the weather gets too cold, winter legs without tights (have not worn for so many years) are not a pretty sight! You did imagine me being in Carcassone, I was in Cannes early July maybe thats what you recalled?

Indie, your vacances sounds wonderful especially the yoga in Italy, Austria is beautiful.

Chanie and maman, I love browsing the Ikea marketplace :)

Ells, keeping fingers crossed for you.

Yesterday was spent cracking walnuts (4 x 3lt ziplocs full) and cleaning the family silver;)
I normally use bicarb and vinegar but it's difficult to use that method on the tea service. Does anybody have any easy ideas to do this?

    Enjoy your day ladies.

    Carmen xx

:rotfl::rotfl:Thanks maman - gave me a laugh and cheered me up!
The ladies interviewing weren't wearing anything that particularly stood out - one had a short sleeved knitted top and slim cut trousers, whilst the other was wearing a long shirt and treggings - I think it was the fact that they were so casual and I had dressed quite formally that made me feel about ten years older!
As the interview went on (all 25 minutes of it:D) and it became clear that I was there to make up the numbers, I felt more and more aware of it, although I didn't let it show and remained calm and polite even when one of them had a giggling fit mid interview about something that had happened before I came in! They were nice enough though and I know they have to do what company recruitment policy dictates. I was tempted though, when asked if I had anything I wanted to ask, to say "yes; did you want to know anything about me?":p
I'm still waiting for the rejection call and then I'll draw a line under it and move on.
Hope you enjoy your lunch. We're at that funny phase at the change of seasons aren't we, where it's hard to know how to dress; I went out in a jumper again earlier, only to swelter when the sun came out!
Carmen I always buy that brasso type stuff to clean silver - not very mse I'm afraid!
LL Hope you like your hairdo. A friend of mine took up yoga a few years back and says it's absolutely changed her life; she's qualified to teach it now.
Thanks again for all your kind words ladies - have a good afternoon/evening.

Sorry Carmen, no ideas for family silver. I have a few brass bits including Candlesticks from my great grandmother's home and Brasso's fine for that. Maybe a soft toothbrush to get into awkward corners with the cleaner?

Lunch was good and although definitely 'nouvelle cuisine' I feel quite full. Probably my own fault as instead of stopping at two courses I had a cheeseboard to end.

I changed my mind completely about what to wear. I'd been reading a magazine that had a feature on 'Hot trends for the season' and one of the areas was Boho style clothes like those floaty print dresses. Included was embroidery and I remembered a lovely short sleeved shirt I've got with embroidery down the front. It's years old but I could never bring myself to get rid of it. So I wore that with skinny navy jeans. The weather got better and better and was a sunny 23 degrees this afternoon so no need to wear the cardi I'd taken with me.

Other apparent trends are country tweeds, leopard print, shiny, red and velvet. I've got something in my wardrobe for each of those so I'll keep them in mind when I'm out shopping/browsing.

Maman snap! I also wore a cream floaty cheesecloth type top with tiny sequins scattered over the embroidered front 3/4 sleeves with khaki tapered cotton trousers and glittery flat sandels. I bought the top in India about ten years ago, but have only worn it about six times
Shiny and velvet are another no no for my big OO's, but I quite like tweed jackets if the cut is not masculine.
Why is it that large ladies with small boobs looks slimmer than one with big boobs grrr!

Thank you both for the cleaning tips.

ellsbel I'm terrible for dressing for the seasons and normally get it wrong around season change time. A work colleague always checks the weather the night before and plans her outfits accordingly. She is currently on maternity leave, so it will be interesting to see how she copes when she returns to work!!!
Sorry to read the interview didn't go well. I'm sure the right role is out there for you.

    Good afternoon lovely ladies

What a Glorious day, bright and breezy. Have been for a little walk, the mince mixture is bubbling away in the slow cooker. Sheep herders pie tonight and freeze some extra portions for the dreaded cba days.

Just waiting for an Amazon delivery then I can hopefully go out into the back garden and do a bit of autumn tidying up.

Don't forget tomorrow is Fab Friday.

I'm reminding you now because tomorrow I will have a full on day.

A tip run (how glamourous!!)' food shopping and .....

.viewing a bungalow. Here we go again.:rotfl:

Happy with my new hair cut, and have been very organised and booked the next two, one in November and one the week before Christmas.

MAman - you asked why I sometimes find it difficult to stick to my fast days and yet other days find it relatively easy. I think it's linked to how tired I am.

I have had a few restless nights. Brainwhirr. I even had a panic attack one evening......no reason that I can think of but obviously I must have been stressed without realising it.

I think my body just demands fuel when I'm overtired in order to keep going. As long as I have l plenty of attractive healthy options then it's ok, it's when I cant find anything that apeals that I start craving carbs.

I think that like a lot of us I subconsciously go for carbs to lift my mood when I am feeling tired or run down. Obviously that's only a quick fix so not a good idea for long term, especially as I am trying to get my blood sugars under control.

So I think the secret to my success will be trying to get a good nights sleep. Maybe change my bedtime routines to try and relax more. No computers after 6pm, warm bath, that kind of thing.

I need to get some nice books to read.

    Thanks, chanie:)
LL, I've not managed a fast day this week, and completely identify with the carb craving when tired; specifically sugary rubbish in my case. Also, maman suggested that the feeling that you've eaten too much at breakfast, or knowing you're going to be eating out might throw plans off track - both these scenarios can sabotage my diet plans! I'm aiming for a healthy day today though as I'm not socialising, haven't had brekkie yet, and had a rare good night's sleep last night:)
Haven't decided just yet what to do in honour of fab Friday, but possibly a face mask once I get back from grocery shopping.
I want to have a good clean through of the house today, and then either a potter in the garden, or I may watch something I've recorded - depending on the weather;)
    Have a good day everyone:)

    happy fab friday

I'm fabbing today, as I'm meeting a work colleague for lunch. I'm wearing a black Jersey top, my new olive green skirt and new ankle boots (both are birthday purchases). I'm not planning to wear tights for now, but I'll see how the weather holds out when I'm leaving
