  • Another long time lurker here.
Really need to declutter the loft room. It's gradually become a dumping ground for stuff I think is cluttering up the rest of the house. Out of sight, out of mind!
I have tried before but lose momentum and give up. I thought if I post my list here it will encourage me to continue. Off to see how I can start.

The decorators move in tomorrow to finish the house off. (Lounge and kitchen)This is a big incentive to clear our clutter. I am going to be very conservative about what goes back downstairs.

    121. Old tin which had t bags in - recycled
    122. coffee jug - recycled from mum but we haven't used it
    123. old lever arch folder - recycled to hubby to use (rather than just laying around the office - does this count?)
    124. computer desk - boot fair
    125. 4 large plates (want to try and cut portion sizes down) boot fair
    129. 4 large bowls (see above)

    Heya ItsaLongshot,

I hear your pain! Hubby pointed out to me that I really need to up the ante if I want to hit 2016 so I'm now kicking myself for not counting all the bits of stationery we donated individually. :o

    But...

Hopefully it'll be an incentive to get rid of even more stuff! :j

Oh, the list has certainly been a good incentive to clear more. Quite a few items I've ummed and ahhed about, but then think "if I clear it, it can go on the list"! Definitely works!

I've also come up with a plan should I find myself falling short of the target - jigsaw puzzles. Each individual piece counts as a separate item, right?! :rotfl:
    Debt tracker ~ June 2015: £9,577.83 ~ January 2016: £7,913.22 ~ 17.38% debt paid!
    2016 debt target ~ clear the loan ~ start: £3,082.04 ~ January 2016: £2,927.15
    Declutter ~ 2016 items in 2016 ~ 271/2016.
  • For the bottle, the only thing I can think of is to wait till the local spring and summer fayres start, then you can donate it to the bottle stall. I have a similar problem, as a friend cleared out her drinks cupboard as part of her NY resolutions and gave the lot to me, but I probably won't drink any of it so have to find somewhere to offload it.

Cat stocking - have a look in supermarkets, they sometimes have pet food donation boxes, I have seen these in Tesco, Sainsbury and Co-op in the past.

I wish I lived near you two, with all your unwanted alcohol.
I have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammar :)

Cleared out bathroom cabinets due to a leak and found loads of unused or discarded toiletries
I did not know (until I thought what a waste to throw away ) that women's refuges in the UK need toiletries and essentials to be donated.
They accept partially used make up and toiletries except for mascara

A bit ashamed about stuff I might have thrown away in the past so I am making up a parcel.

    Sorry for your loss Rossi.

Thanks for this. I'm a bit confused do you need to pay postage for the parcel? It mentions not asking the place in Wales to pay the postage but to me that implies the other address does. confused a bit

    Up to 130 things already.

I have a box of game workshop figure to go to my brother probably over 50, I'll count that when it leaves
Almost managed to get rid of the broken Playstation, remote, 2 controllers and over 60 games but OH saw me grr
