  • I would just like to say thank you to everyone that have taken the time to reply to me post and revelations!
I feel much more positive already. I think the way to go is small mini targets leading to the end game so to speak. I just look forward to the time I can be normal again and not have to worry about things.

I will post full details of the predicament in the next few days.

A very happy new year to all you wonderful people xxx

  • Happy New Year to you Cat girl. I am glad you are feeling a little better about your predicament already :T

Try not to beat yourself up any more about it. Look forward now not back.

I too am setting myself small targets and then when one CC is paid up I will then tackle the next and so on.

I don't look at the bigger picture now I focus on one step at a time.

I haven't even been tempted to use CCs for months :T

With budgeting and planning you will get there.

    Good luck

  • Happy new year 12MC, I fell better today than I have in a very long time... I have a lot going on in my life that makes it stressful at times and have been helped so much already by having people so kind taking the time to comment and offer support. Good luck with your targets.. I am sure there are a few of us here that can support each other along the way.

  • Another sleepless night due to snoring husband... Worrying about my offspring and the mountainous debt I have but luckily enough I have read back through the responses to diary I got and I feel less anxious again.

    So far I have:

Cleaned the living room and taken the tree etc down.

Joined the crazy clothes challenge and set a target of £150 for the year for myself.

Joined sealed pot challenge and sellotaped a nice big box up putting a hole in the top for money and shopping vouchers etc for next Xmas. I already have £60 worth of Tesco club card vouchers saved that I didn't use this year so that's a great start.

Next job is to go on the SOA thingy on here and post it.

Do myself a signature with my debt amounts so I can deduct what I pay each month.

I have also been thinking of ways to earn extra cash.
Tomorrow I intend to list a few items on eBay that I don't use and can bring in extra loot.

The main thing for me with this getting out of debt malarkey will be keeping on here to keep myself on track so I don't drift. This means going on here a couple of times a week I think.

I hope everyone reading this is being lucky with their debt busting endeavours xx

Here is the SOA that I did on my IPad!!!
I may need to redo this on computer but it's a start I suppose.
My situation is complicated in that I am hoping to get some extra funds each month off my daughter but this will be in a few months time.
I have some 0% deals at the moment but two run out in 6 months time and God know what I am going to do then as I can't get another BT card. Tesco have offered me 12 months int free on that card but I only have £1000
Available on it. I have 3500 available on my MBNA card but no int free offer and the percent int rate is 20% so that's no good. I did have a £15k limit on my Barclay card which I had planned to use for a balance transfer but they decided to cut my limit to £6000 with no notice so that scuppered my plans.

At the moment I am struggling to know which to pay first and would also like some advice on how much my min payment will be on the MBNA card when the int free runs out....
Eg 20% APR on a balance that will be approx £8000 if I try to pay £2000 off it in 6 months.

This is very complicated and I am in a real mess hence my sleepless nights....

  • Forgot to add. £11000 of this debt is my daughters responsibility as I helped her out of some real messes this last year. She earns a decent income and commission which she will hopefully pass onto me in order to pay her share down...

First thing I would do is to research your home insurance. £65 per month is extremely high. You should be able to make a massive saving there! I used to pay £110 for the year combined on mine (but even with my current one which covers bnb it's about £25pm). Have you paid for the year in full or are you paying monthly? Go on a comparison site to see what you could get and even if you are locked in for a year it may be cheaper to pay to get out of it.

Is your daughters debt on a seperate card? Realistically if you can't get a 0% deal then you are going to have to think about whether you are going to pass the interest on to her. Does she have a good credit history? If so she may be able to apply for a 0% card herself and transfer it over.

you have got petrol down but no other car expenses. Does hubby pay these? If not you should work out how much the costs are divided by 12 months and put that by to hopefully stop you needing to add it to a card.

You could prob get your groceries down a bit of it's just the two of you. Have you tried downsizing brands, batch cooking etc?

Hopefully someone who knows how to use the snowball calculator can come along and punch in your figures as I believe that gives you a plan on what order to pay them

    Good luck :)
