Android TV Boxes - Info and Legality?

Hi all,


A number of friends seem to be raving now about having an android TV box claiming all manner of TV viewing (live premiership football, latest films etc).


I believe they are talking about Jailbroken ones.

I believe they stream content from the internet through apps?

Doesn't even have to be an Android box, it's possible to side-load Kodi onto the latest Apple TV.

only upto kodi v14.2, after that there is no support , v15 has been out a while and v16 is now a downloadable beta http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_on_Apple_TV_2

Actually you can sideload v17 on the apple tv 4. To the OP, although these android boxes work a lot of them are poor quality build so buy one of the amazon fire tv boxes (avoid the fire stick) running kodi on eBay or sideload it yourself And at least the hardware will be decent.

perhaps you should repost that in about a year

I installed v17 (its version Kodi 17.0-ALPHA1) yesterday. Got it from here:http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/darwin/tvos/

Why avoid the firestick? I find it perfect

so do I , but why interrupt the flow
, I could mention that a simple ITX motherboard with a AMD radion thing (5350?), total cost about £60 will fly past any android/apple thing with a copy of openelec on it


or buy an intel NUC 513 with a M.2 card , 8g memory , and a xbox remote , and sit back
