KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

GoingToDoIt wrote: »I don't like meat. Never have. Refused it when being weaned, apparently. Much to the disappointment of my omnivorous family. There was a few years where they could get me to eat sausages, and a lot of bemusement that even the promise of a mac burger would not tempt me to eat more than a bite. Sadly the drive to get me to eat meat meant that there was little drive to get me to eat non-meats, so only as an adult did I get into eating chickpeas, lentils, cabbage, spinach and other such exoticfoods. Much to everyone's surprise, because "you don't like anything!" It's true, I really just don't like meat. I kondoed trying to like it years ago.
It's good to hear that GQ is an omnivore, as my CFS is occasionally diagnosed as a consequence of a meat free diet, by some non-medically qualified bright spark or other. Am fairly certain that if I did eat meat it would have been the worst sort (I.e. Sausages and burgers-see above)
I'm going to wander to the leedle for a few bits and bobs and do a bit of batch cooking today I think
Phew was beginning to think I was the only person on the plant that was Veggie because of a dislike for meat and fish (just tastes like trying to suck a pencil sharpener :rotfl:)Must use my stash up!0 -
One thing I love about this thread is that we appear to have kondoed the internet standard of launching into a bun fight (or burger bun fight?:)) when people have different opinions and experiences. We're all working towards that goal - living our best life, which is different for each of us.

Love the conversation. I do practice (mostly) clean eating. My body thanks me for it. I make sourdough bread and try to eat no other bread. But sometimes I do. I avoid sugar, but sometimes I need it - last night I came home and was craving orange juice. I keep a few individual cartons for just thos times so I drank half a carton, the other half I drank this morning. I probably won't have any for months now.
My problem is alcohol  not as in "my name is VJsmum and i am an alcoholic" but I do like a beer or a glass of wine a couple of times a week.
Tidying house and cleaning kitchen today. The joy of kondoing is that, whilst it looks a tip, it takes very little time to re tidy...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Silvasava and Oceanspirit, thank you for the advice.
I'm battling a hangover and a virus today. The world is going siiiiiide waaaaayyyyys. A bottle of red does not cure vertigo.......0 -

My DD1 is the same - just never liked the texture, not the thought! As child she didnt eat much meat/fish Didnt worry me as she was always a fit healthy and active child and I wasnt going to force feed her but as she has got older and out and about in the world her tastes have broadened but she is like us - we eat meat and fish but good quality stuff at a premium and therefore dont eat a lot - for us its the origin and welfare that is important:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

OK, I have survived the freezer expedition! Not too bad in there and I was in fact pretty much up to speed with regard to contents. Freezer defrosted, drawers cleaned, items sorted into a better order, *whispers* a few items that were well past best now released. Two UFOs binned. YS curry defrosting to have for tea with plenty of green beans, broccoli and carrot. Oh, and 2 lots of pastry put to one side to give to relative who frequently bakes.
Have made a start on bullet journal while sitting in glorius sunshineFirst thing- a block chart to record weight loss. I think seeing the completed / incompleted blocks will help me see achievements and remainder, and encourage me to crack on:D
Just lunching on salad, cold pork chop (thinly sliced) and coleslaw.
I would prefer to make my own coleslaw but have yet to find a mayo I like. Any suggestions? (Not H3llmans, thanks!).
I was veggie for a couple of years for ethical reasons but it did not suit me, so as Igamogam says, prefer carefully chosen meat. IMHO some dairy production verges on cruel and so I try to limit purchases but I am afraid i still do consume.
Greenbee, I did have a trusted contact who I passed work to but she is fully occupied now! I do have a list of trusted traders (from personal experience) that I share.I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Did some sorting of old uni paperwork today. Going to sit in the garden and revise for an interview tomorrow now and have a BBQ later. It's far too sunny to be KM'ing today :cool2:Illegitimi non carborundum.0

I dress coleslaw with oil/citrus juice or vinegar rather than mayo. You can always add a bit of yogurt if you want it creamier. Or you can make your own mayo0
-
Thank Greenbee but I hate vinegar! But citrus is a good idea to 'cut' the oil. I don't like salad dressings with oil though. Never understood the idea of dressing something fresh and healthy with oil.....Yep, awkward is my middle name
I sometimes use a sour cream n chive dip as a sort of dressing and I know that (and mayo) is liquid fat going on my salad but i tolerate them in small quantities.
Happily eat salads without any dressings or coleslaw etc but occasionally i fancy coleslaw. Have never ever used up even a small jar of mayo, or a small bottle of any dressing!
Right, back into the garden

MMF007 DH likes Hellman's, but I prefer the new Heinz mayo. Re coleslaw - when I make it I use a mix of mayo & salad cream2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
