    :) Afternoon all.

Well, today has gone pretty darned well, apart from being grey and the wind being from the NE and flippin' cold. Didn't stop me doing anything I'd got planned but was biking into a headwind some of the time, which gets old quickly.

Yup, I've had lots and lots and lots of blood work inc that, always joke the horsepickle has more of my red stuff than I do. I was diagnosed with GF after presenting with exhaustion, swollen glands and a tender abdomen. GP said he thought either GF or hepatitus so tested for both and came neg for hep and positve for GF.

I was twenty and never recovered my formerly-vigourous health. Hey ho, I'm so over self-pity, I'm insufferably bouncy when well, so being tuned down a few notches on the energy-o-meter is prolly a blessing for bystanders.:rotfl: And my peers are slowing down in middle-age but I'm not appreciably any worse than I have been for decades, so we're averaging out our energies.

Have decided to peck away at the clutter in the lottie shed by catching a couple of items for rehoming/ recycling/ binning on each trip and dealing with them, rather than distract myself from gardening-gardening by having a big old pig-out. Y'know, when the shed barfs its contents out the door and takes over half the plot and you have to deal with it the same day because your shed is over a mile from your home and it cannot be left like that.

Boom box has gone, as has its manual, and lots of used-up seed packets (recycling) plus some bottle glass dug out of the soil and a just-emptied container of slug pellets which are exclusively used inside the cold frame otherwise slugs come up between the slabs it stands on and chomp on the new seedlings. Oh, and another two IKEYA blue bags of couch grass and horsetails, how to I hate thee horsetails, let me count the ways.............. :p

Righty, a bit more interwebulation and then I shall get the supper on. If it isn't home-grown, it's YS tonight - winning!

Have managed to spend a lot of time in OH's office today. Cluttered dusty space full of 'stuff'. We managed to shift 4 sacks of recycling, mainly paper, 1 sack to be shredded, half a bag of black sack waste. Nearly had an argument over the number of notepads. They were appearing from everywhere, I have told OH to refuse any offered notepads in future, we have acquired a stash beyond several lifetimes. He's not wanting to let any go, but some of them were given to us by my supplier so I will hand those on to others who may want them. Even so, there must be 50 of varying sizes up to A4. He says he ends up buying notepads as he runs out when away from home.......... my suggestion is to write in the pad 20 pages before the end to find a new notepad! Hopefully he will take this on board and not buy more as he was completely unaware of how many we have (it's that KM thing of putting same stuff in the same place). He's had a bit more of a tidy, it's still ram jammed with stuff but some progress has been made. I cleared one of the two desks hoping that he would say we could part with it, but he said if I wanted to get rid, could we get something else to replace it.... as he wanted the surface space (it's not like his work requires him to spread out), so I tidied stuff off the floor onto the desk instead.

Ironing has been done up to date apart from 4 trousers/shorts which are his and I don't iron his trousers (he can't complain, I do all the rest).

Will be Kondo-ing some rhubarb into crumble shortly.

Fascinating discussion and yes, it's lovely that people on here are prepared to discuss and not get all het up. I was vegetarian for about 8 years on ethical (as I then thought) grounds but changed my mind about it all, like others I try to eat meat infrequently and only eat free range/high welfare.

I realised something last year however - I have been in denial about this for years- I DONT LIKE SALAD! I just don't like raw vegetables. I eat lots of cooked veg, I don't mind tomatoes or cucumber in moderation but I loathe lettuce. I make rice and pasta salads but the thought of a green salad does not spark joy. It's only taken me 50-something years to realise this! So I applaud you meat-haters, now come sit next to me and I'll swap the pile of grass on my plate for that juicy burger!

MMF007 I didn't start the conversation about bullet journals, I think it was Lizzie? But I've begun one and it's proving very helpful. The site that was linked to in the original post has some great 'show and tell' examples.

    Good luck Bettypage!

DH hates salad as well but he blames me for not losing weight because it's spring now and we could have lots of salads....

No, I can't work that one out either. I suspect it's a case of a woman's place is in the wrong
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

:) I made the mistake of trying to eat a pre-prep salad straight from the bowl. Boy, was that a dry and unpleasant experience! :rotfl:

I love chopping veggies a lot more than I like cooking so, for me, a chance to prep salads by grating carrots and chopping up crisp and colourful things and slinging them into a bowl is joyous, as is crunching my way through them with the tang of apple cider vinegar and the warmth of olive oil.

Nomnomnom. And have misplaced another 0.2 kg in the past 24 hrs (I blame the cycling because I sure as heck don't do exercise).

Today's cunning plan is working and then seeing a complementary health practioner after work, which will account for the next few hours nicely and also kondo some money.

:o I am still minus a device to play CDs on and don't actually feel deprived at all. I think I will sit on my hands until I do feel an uncomfortable lack and then (and only if it happens) will I go shopping.

I was trying to figure out how many boom-boxes I have owned since the early 1980s and think it must be pushing ten of them, although the last one lasted nearly 19 years......... how embarrassing to have been the cause of so much waste and pollution.

:D I know! I will sing to myself instead!

    Chorus of neighbours: NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pollywolly, strips of lettuce and stir fry or steam and I also cook cucumber sometimes, when I just don`t feel like cold food

My son and his wife are both vegans, the rest of us are omnivores but love vegetables. They are very sensible and look amazingly healthy. He was once paleo and it almost killed him wrt his health. I eat red meat maybe twice a week and only a small portion like one loin chop. I eat turkey a couple of times a week, fish a couple of times a week, eggs and cheese but only feta, goats, halloumi, mozarella, seldom cheddar. I would eat more fish but am now wary of what they are consuming in the sea. All my meat is grass fed and everything is organic, except the fish. I am a chocoholic but 2 squares of cacao chocolate stops cravings. I have berries at every meal and I now recently eat spelt not wheat and make sd bread, like I have done for many years, except now with spelt

A day on the steam trains yesterday and thinking I would like to move to a couple of those places, the ones with some shops and buses. Met lovely chatty people en route and there, 4 were singles. Looked up rightmove when I got back and there was not a single house that looked as good and as airy as mine. I am going to have to get my head around this.

Lottie stuff today and seed packet sorting, getting rid of old seeds for starters. Also KM old broken seed trays and keeping up with garden tidying as autumn soon comes and it is a job I hate when cold and wet. Also lottie tool sharpening and will sort and tidy outdoor storage. I have a nice covered cantilever umbrella, black and still smart but I seldom put it up. It stands weighted down by four granite slabs but they don`t have enough weight, so I have large expensive low planters on the slabs, all filled with pebbles. That is enough weight for gales. I have finally decided that if I don`t use it this summer, that it will have to go. It was initially bought to shade the outdoor table when we have people here but I don`t have enough here to use the table, so it stands there, like a sail. The planters would look lovely filled with semperviviums and dwarf lilacs and small pinks

Draught is coming here fast, any transplanting needed is done, while there is any moisture low in the ground. Also hoeing while I still can, before the ground bakes solid

Was awake earlier than usual and rather than lying in bed reading with a cup of coffee, I got up, hung out the washing, had breakfast and walked to the bottle bank. It's COLD outside.

I have to go into the office today (about a year since my last visit) so need to find a suit and put on some make up...

I'm tempted to try GQ's diet, except I find raw veg difficult to eat/digest when it's cold. However, I do like roast veg, and that's pretty quick for breakfast. When all the porridge ingredients are gone I will move on to a veg-based breakfast on a regular basis rather than just occasionally. I might have to increase my veg box order :)

My local hospice had a Hats and Handbags sale on Saturday and I'd kondoed some hats that I'd never worn to them. Had an email this morning to say they'd helped to raise over £1300 - win win - great joy!!

    Wow Silvasalva that's amazing.

i need a hat for a family wedding in a few weeks.

Those who don't like the idea of cold veg / salad for brekkie, I am currently sauteing half an onion, some courgette, pepper and tomatoes. i will break an egg into it and sprinkle cheese and a couple of olives over when its done. A kind of warm salad, i guess....

Also trying to lose a few pounds - partly for said family wedding.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I have to have a carb based breakfast or I'll be shaky and ravenous within an hour. A couple of crumpets or slivpces of toast do me fine. I can't tolerate wholemeal bread, it makes my tummy go all fizzy and gives me chronic indigestion. I normally eat breakfast around 6am, lunch is normally 11.30/noon and then evening meal at 6.30. I don't snack so habe to work hard to fit the 5/7 a day into meals.

I've just kondod all the new bathroom flooring out from under my bed and fitted it in the bathroom...... very joyous! Have been very good and doing regular trips to the tip throughout the remodelling so only an Ik ea bag full of tiles bits, a couple of empty tubs of glue/grout and the flooring boxes to go now. I do hate getting to the end of a job and having to sort all the dross.

Just kondod left overs for lunch too so a bit of empty space in the fridge! Which will be filled later as I've promised everyone a roast so will get some trays of roast veg going whilst the oven is on and make up some pasta salads for the weeks lunches.
