:) Ahh, I'm 3 inches taller than you, then, VJsMum. The amount of time I spend scrunching myself up to fit my long legs around furniture which is scaled for smaller folk, not to mention air plane seats, bus seats, train seats...... I could wish I was shorter but I was 5' 9" by the time I was fifteen.:rotfl:

Glad the skirt post was helpful. I often see petite ladies being somewhat swamped by their clothes, it's so hard to get it right, isn't it?

Of course, a person should wear what the heck she likes and it's no one's business but her own, but some things look more aesthetically pleasing than others.

Have been dressing tres casual since lunchtime when I changed into my lottie duds and have been playing in the dirt. Have kondo'd the bramble-and-nettle patch at the top righthand corner of the lottie and had a small bonfire to get rid of the top-growth.

Lottie's looking a bit tidier, and some glass and pottery and plastic has come out of the soil, so that's kondo-ing, right?

Dunno if everyone else knows it but that guy from break the twitch does Yoo Toob videos, each a few minutes long. He's a very engaging speaker, I'd commend them to you.

3 of my items on Fleabay have had offers so I've packed them up ready to despatch on Monday. More out of the house and a little bit of Dosh in the kitty. Have just realised if I go through all the photos that are stored in one of the underbed drawers I would have space to store my sailing gear out of the way. It's only used for 6 months of the year but needs to be accessible. Right - that's next on the list!!

Where on earth does the time go? One drawer led to another and I ended up sorting all the electronics, was very hard, not at all emotional but looking for this and that lead was hard. Everything is charging up now and I have bagged stuff in labelled ziplock bags for the drawers and ended up shoving some stuff back in a drawer because I was electronically zapped. Only got one click- free drive to give away tomorrow to dd and I have formatted that. Had to destroy an ipad, was husbands, son had a go a year ago but impossible to unlock as I have no idea of the required data, sat in a drawer all year and I threw it across the garden, spent too long on it as it was, even tried to download itunes to restore it but the download was not working on my 32 bit windows 7, tried several times but got stuck half way. Time is too precious so I used my lump hammer. Was on the old side anyway but felt guilty, however let that be a lesson in leaving passwords for nearest and dearest

    Unexpected visitors tomorrow :)

I have 3 bags of stuff for the c/s including a floor lamp that wasn't very pretty but functional whilst we looked for one to replace it.

Today I found a real bargain of a pretty Tiffany floor lamp in a charity shop and I'm so relieved to be able to rid myself of a lamp that is sturdy and functional but with a badly-fitting shade that took up far too much floor space in my living room!

Coats, gloves, scarves and handbags got a good Kondoing today! Half of Dr Witch's coats are now in a bin bag ready for the Chazza, along with two of mine, three scarves, two pairs of gloves, fives bags , a back pack and 4 Baseball caps - the coat rack sighed in relief :rotfl:
    Must use my stash up!

I've been at DDs all day finishing the decorating while she is on holiday, the place is shining like a new pin - I even cleaned the oven!

Whilst I haven't put anything of hers out I have put it all away so she can see how much better it is without so many 'things'. Everyone was so kind to her when she moved in I think she feels obliged to have all the gifts on show. Maybe if she doesn't miss stuff she can gradually pass it on if it's not useful.

Yep, I know that feeling. My mum gave me a lot of stuff when we moved in but, as we've redecorated, it doesn't match the new colour schemes (new yellow walls & a red wine sofa - not a great combo lol) and some of the cushions & trinkets aren't really my taste.

I'm grateful for her giving us things we needed but I feel bad getting rid of it, especially given how we've kept most of the stuff my OH's parents gave us because we have a Victorian flat and the stuff they gave us is traditional & vintage whereas the stuff my mum gave us is modern because she's always had newer apartments/houses and it suited the size & style of her rooms more.

  • I avoided skirts for years, I've got fat legs and varicose veins that I'm a bit self conscious about - and then I (re)discovered boots. Not easy when your calves are on the chunky side but I invested in a pair of Duo* boots for ladies with wide calves, and never looked back. I wear boots with above-the-knee skirts and I think it's quite a flattering look. I hate putting tights on so I usually wear them with thermal leggings and socks I feel really stylish and comfortable.

*Duo is now called Ted & Muffy I think. They are eye-wateringly expensive but have lasted years and get worn nearly every day in winter.

I am still on paper - but I have lots to shred and I have a couple of baskets of paperwork to sort. I spent time today looking for a credit card, only to find the reason I could not find it was I had shredded the old one and the new one was in the basket of paperwork of things to be dealt with!

I have in the main been filing paperwork as soon as I receive it, or have dealt with it, but the items that need to be dealt with is growing. I think that amount is a worry, but if I concentrated on one a day on my 'to do' list they should get done before too long.

One way I have lessened the paper in the house is that I have given up buying a daily newspaper but the last ones I bought are still waiting to be read. I will try to flick through them tomorrow and get rid.

Talking of things to read, I've bought more books - that started when I went away with my daughter for a few days. She buys books and then gives them to charity shops. Seemed a good idea at the time but I get attached to my books and still have so many to read. I'm not worried that more didn't get thrown when I did my book category, as I am planning to read quite a few of them and then give them away so that I only have enough that will fit on my bookshelves.

On Wednesday I gave a sofa bed to a family member who is renting an unfurnished flat. She also had some bedding, towels and crockery and other items that she felt would look nice in the flat that either I was intending to give away or things that I was happy to part with - including a plant that she may save from dehydration...

I visited the flat yesterday and was happy to see my items in their new surroundings. I have asked for a blanket to be returned in the future which she knows I have only lent her, but I have offered to buy her one to replace it.

I have Kondoed some money on a holiday today - that was why I wanted the credit card. It's good to Kondo, isn't it? :)

pollywolly, I have always had relatively chunky legs, even when I was slim in body and wore a mini skirt, only then I was happy in myself but now my body has changed, together with my height shrinkage and softer paler features. I am going to google duo boots later, I never thought to wear boots, good idea.

I look back at myself, that is what happened when I sorted the photos and I kind of mourned for myself, for the quiet passing of my very pretty looks, only I never realised I was so pretty then and now is too late, those looks are gone. I accept myself in my own skin, even got a book about colouring me beautiful, which I will take off my bookshelf before I kondo my clothes. I am not sure which clothes give me joy yet as I need to come to terms with myself and my changes first and see what suits me as I am, not what I wish I could be

I have family visitors later and will be able to kondo a good amount of freezer space and also a basket of set-aside goodies :D and last night kondo`ed a part turkey carcase from the freezer, turned it into lovely stock for homemade broth for a few days, for myself
