Go Kittie! It is very liberating, liberating inanimate objects, believe me! Once they are released they no longer sneer at you every time they catch your eye. You thank them, say goodbye and breathe a sigh of relief.
As we have come to realise on this thread, the money spent is long gone, at the time the aquisition gave you pleasure or served a purpose, now you can release the items and focus on items that bring you joy, small or great.
    !

I did it :D five kitchen eloctronics have gone plus one big almost new foot spa :D and I feel good

Over time, I will use stashed food, I `blame` the prepping thread, they are stored in a sideboard in my hall and that sideboard would be of much more use for hobby things. It will take a year but so what? I will get there. Slowly slowly and steady for me :D

I finally started to pin up the living room curtains ready to shorten. moved a lot of stuff out of my bedroom and have a bag of books ready to go to charity shop or else to the library if they want them.

I am waiting for a lovely new bedroom chair to be delivered and have put an ordinary chair in the space allocated so I don't dump stuff there. The airing cupboard is sorted and I wrapped an extra birthday present for dd who comes round next weekend.

The kettle in the kitchen is being replaced by a small hot water dispenser so I am not boiling a kettle every time I want a cuppa and bits of kitchen equipment I use very seldom will be stored away.

House is a tip but will be better by time middle dd comes round tonight for a meal and a stopover. Cue mad dash with hoover and duster while cooking HB diet lasagne.

    I'm a convert!!!

After spending half my lunch hour watching videos on how to kondo my clothes drawer, I decided to dip my toe in and test it out on my drawer of vest tops....which being a true scot I always wear under everything and tuck it into my trousers (cant abide drafts or exposed midriffs/ backs!) so I have a lot of them and every time I open my drawer the first couple of layers get caught and roll back, so not exactly a joyful experience.

Reorganising the whole drawer only took me 15mins and I have them all filed according to colour (one row of white and another of colours....except its from black to navy to grey with one random pink one, just to cheer it up!!).....and have generated third of the drawer in space - without chucking a single one!!
Am totally going to try it with the rest of my tops / jumpers :)

The reason I didn't chuck out any, as I tried the 'spark joy' feeling whilst holding a top that I wore pretty frequently when I was pregnant, and started getting all teary that I wouldn't be pregnant again...., so just bypassed that bit and focussed on folding and filing :)

  • Hi Kondoners, and welcome to all new contributors <waves>
I'm going for my second phase of Kondoing. The first phase has established a number of good habits, but I always knew that I'd need to revisit a few categories. I'm also aiming to reorganise some bits, for instance a nice container from the bathroom is now empty and can be re-purposes (not sure where as yet) a year ago it was full of kipple.
A full rag bag and electrical item bag going out for recycling too. I recently went away and got ill, someone picked up a pack of cheap undergarments from tsco's for me and they are FAR too big! But are ok for wearing to bed. As they are black, I dumped them in cold water with bleach and they are now an (ahem) attractive tie dye black and orange design which makes them easy to identify when rolled up. It's quite joyful to get use out of something rather than wasting it.

I suppose the MK aspiration applies to food stored eg my freezer, fridge and food cupboards are full to bursting, as always it is down to a complex psychology of my age, having been brought up soon after the war, plus being in situations of not being able to get out in winter snow. That plus not wasting anything I grow on my allotment. I don`t hate any of it, just the fact that I need to push food into my large upright freezer as it is so full. I will love it more if I have the space to keep food as hm ready meals, so I can spend more time on my hobbies. Starting today with making butternut squash (home grown frozen) bread and have taken the squash out, which already gives me more space :)

I have a half way house here ie a shopping trolley in my hall and if I am not sure about getting rid of something, then it goes in there while I sleep on it. Did that yesterday with a k mix accessory and it has just gone back in my cupboard, looks neat anyway :)

:) I have a box in the corner of my sitting-room (not a large box, about a foot tall by 10 inches wide) which serves the same purpose.

I will be re-visiting clothes at some point in the not too distant future, as I have a few items which will not fit into the chest-of-drawers nor on the hanging rail (3 ft wide). I will consider whether some of those items are ever likely to be used.

Some of my clothes, such as the current excess of pyjamas (one drawer out of the five is just nightwear :o) are in a cycle of being worn up and not replaced, so the overall inventory will shrink over time.

Out and about a bit on this bright sunny morning, will aim not to bring anything indoors which isn't a consumable. Have a great day, everyone. GQ xx

Attacking the office any minute now, to make it a good working environment. Photos first I think, as they are easier than the paperwork.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
