KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I find it amazing what kind and weight of items a person can shift by wiggling them across the floor, kittie. My term for this is corner-walking, where the item is squarish. I can move things that way which I definately couldn't hope to lift.
I'm going to have an 'at home' sort of day, apart from a brief trip t'shops later, and will be doing a bit of sorting out in the bedroom. This room is a PITA, it is less than a foot wider than my bed is long, and there's just enough room to open the door without smacking into the bed, it's literally a room with a bed in it.
Even if the bed was the only thing in there, it would be cramped but, of course, my little flat doesn't come equiped with a separate dressing room, so clothes storage and a few other miscellaenous items have to live in there (wally trolley, camping equipment, sewing machine, bow and arrows).
And all this whilst preserving the airflow so mould doesn't grow - the bedroom is towards the river and it moister than the other side of the flat. Bodies of water, even ones 30 yards away, have an impact, as a surveyor told me.
Oh, and I had to replace the black cartridge on my computer printer this morning, and the old ones go to the same charity as the mobile phones (local cancer charity) so I can kill two birds with one stone when I run that errand.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Waiting for kettle to boil to make morning cuppa I've just used a mushroom punnet to store the 3D & iMax glasses tidily in the drawer. I've been saving various punnets for DH's 'man drawer' but I've pinched this oneSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

What a co-incidence! Went to see Rogue One with a pal at an IMAX cinema last night and we both thought that they would have a facility to re-use the glasses but not, if you leave them behind they're binned. I shall find a place to keep mine as may well watch another one of these movies and wouldn't want to waste a second pair of spex.
Am just taking five from vacuuming under my bed, and will be re-organising the storage under there to take some of the current excess of yarn on the premises.
You know how it goes, I had two pulled-out jumpers, announced I was making blankets again and, before I knew it, had about four bin-bag full of yarn from the stashes of friends, friends' mothers, my mother........ :rotfl: not that I'm complaining, it's a temporary blip until they can be used and then the inventory will decrease.Aren't bedrooms fluffy places?! I clean mine regularly but there are still dust-bunnies under there which a weak person would be afraid to face..... must diarise to do this again in six months, wouldn't want the critters to get too comfy. I have vacuumed with due care and attention and two of those spindly spiders have been carefully avoided.
They look so innocuous but are apparently canniabals of other, even much bigger, spider species. I regard them as my protectors against the big 'airy spiders. I have one of the spindlies in residence in the bathroom, behind the sink pedestal. I try not to disturb it too much.......Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I still can't believe how long it is not taking me to tidy up! It is a bit like a snowball effect as I spend less time doing the surface room tidying, I am diverting the time that i have gained into other things, sometimes this is more KD, spring cleaning, doing them jobs that i never really had time to get round to. I am hoping that I can keep this positivity up so that 2017 becomes the start of something new!Don’t put it down - put it away!

I`m just having a break too, can`t be bothered thinking of lunch so had a quick sardines on squash bread. I am enjoying this project and am going out for more in ten minutes. Satisfaction from managing to get a very securely fastened baike hanger off the wall, carriage bolts and massive screws. Lol, carving skills came in useful and managed to find an old wood chisel, which I sharpened.. Cut all around the bolts and managed to get them out, no damage to the wall. Shelves moved, utility ones and will need to screw to the wall for safety. Wooden apple store moved but had to climb over everything to get out. Going to be a major sort out of gardening stuff this morning. and not going to think of the cost or what I might need, just in case. Only keeping what I do need
Another plus ie something leading to that contented happy buzz, is the fact that my self installed solar lighting system is working really good. 40w panel and continuous lighting via led strips.
Got to go, I know I have a bar of vivani chocolate in the kitchen and got to get distracted, quick0 -
Am pacing myself getting through the bedroom work, it's a beggar having ME.

GQ, would hanging your bedroom door to open outwards give you any extra room? Or remove it completely and replace with a curtain? ( Could the door be stored in the bike or Lottie shed?)0

Good thoughts but wouldn't work here. Plus the back of the door is a key part of the domestic storage systems and I haven't anywhere to put the things which hang there.
Have just got the bedroom (minus making the bed, lol) put back to rights and it's much better now. I was shocked to discover that my suitcase (carry on size) was actually EMPTY which is an astonishing oversight in a flat this small.
I have now stored some yarn in it, with a label attached to the handle saying exactly what colours are inside. It seems a bit daft to label things scrupulously when tidying but it really does pay dividends.
I mean, I'm sure I'll not forget where things are, but it's amazing how easy it is to 'lose' things even in a small home. Labelling things in Mum & Dad's loft and their Bedroom Cupboard of Doom has been brilliant, makes retrieval and putting stuff away a wheeze.
Righty, am still in my jammies, as have been crawling around in dusty corners, the jammies are due to join the washload about to start, so there didn't seem any point in dressing and mucking up more duds.
Shower, put the laundry on, quick lunch then hit the streets for my few errands. Pretty pleased with today thus far as some procrastinated chores have been nixed.
Onwards!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
