Shredder - I need one - can anyone recommend one? There are many papers to be shredded once I get to that category & I have Amazon money available - all suggestions would be gratefully accepted.
Anyway - enough for now - I'm heading into the spare room - please send help if I'm not out by 6pm.
We got an Amazon cross cut shredder and it works really well!Must use my stash up!0 -

Warning: kondofail coming up! Or rather, fail of processing stuff properly
I had been saving up all my rags, in three bin liners in the attic. I took them with me when I visited my parents over Christmas, because last time I was there, my Dad put the rags in the clothes container, where they also accept rags, as long as the bags are clearly labelled. My Dad could not remember he had thrown the rags in the container, and said that the container now has a label saying that only clean and perfect clothing can be donated. So, we came to the sad conclusion that we had to throw away the rags in the normal garbage, and I did, straight away. THAT SAME AFTERNOON, they received a leaflet about garbage collection in the new year, and that said that rags could be donated with the normal textiles, and would be picked up monthly! I've stopped shredding and now use an incinerator in the garden - it's quicker and there's less waste to get rid of.
If you have somewhere to use it / store it, I'd recommend this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DW6JI8Y/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
when not in use I store my brooms etc in it out in the garage.:hello:0 -
I also burn nowadays rather than shred, although I just shove my paper in the chiminea

Well I made a start today - didn't actually get rid of anything, but moved stuff around so I can actually get in the rooms to START to sort them!
Had a chuckle thinking about sorting sock drawers - I think I'll need wagons or skips before I can think about sorting drawers.:rotfl:
Must admit it's daunting, 3 upstairs bedrooms chock a block with 'things', includimg about 7 knitting machines with all the spare bits jumbled up! And what do I do with a mountain of vintage Machine Knitting magazines??? That's when I can get to them through all the other stuffAnd I haven't mentioned the loft yet
I'm going to take that song 'One day at a Time' as my theme tuneI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy0 -
No such thing as 'failure', it's just lessons learned! One thing I have learned is that trying to find the perfect home for unwanted items can induce a sort of paralysis. I hate waste but sometimes we just have to accept that Stuff we've loved and treasured for years just doesn't have any value to anyone else. You could put your knitting magazines on Freecycle- or list them on eBay for 'collection only' and a silly price, but if there are no takers then maybe paper recycling is the solution. .
Today I tackled the filing. I've been putting it off for weeks and my office/spare room had got into in a bit of a state, to my shame. However I set to this morning and my MK filing system proved its worth, I had everything put away in a short time (why did I put it off so long?) and everything has a home. Just goes to show that once you've completed this process things may get in a mess again if you don't tidy up, but the structure you've created is still there underneath.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0
