Over the holidays I have bought two long sleeved longbottomed T-shirts (I'm 6ft tall and they come to halfway my thighs, maybe they are actually dresses?) with a low neckline, so I can wear them under work shirts and they don't show. They are soooo comfy and spark a lot of toasty joy :)

I have also bought a proper plastic lidded container for the p1aymobi1 things my dds have, bought a new pair of very boring black leather commute shoes (3cco) that will go under my suit at work. The shoebox is already in one of the wardrobes coralling items it never thought it would hold :rotfl:

Crafting.. I have many a creative idea and then i get stalled for one reason or another. The project is then dormant and shoved in the drawer. I then start another... can you see a pattern starting?

I culled my material/cross stitch tub a while back and kept a few things whilst I once again thought that maybe I will finish. As I move things around I find myself in the same tub with a firmer attitude and the ability to ask myself firstly if i will ever get round to it? and then what will it be used for? If none of the answers sparked any joy then it went.

I also had a stash of things made up for craft stalls and although i would sell one or two the rest would linger and i must have had some for over a year. For example temporary tattoos, kids bracelets so at the Christmas fayre I made mini bags ups and did a prize every time tombola and the lot went! The joy!

I am trying to find a place to store bits for a joblot car boot so that as i go through cupboards and find worthwhile bits I can put them on Ebay. Not too worried how much I get for them as they have served my purpose but I really want to financially get myself sorted and the pennies all add up.

Had a chuckle thinking about sorting sock drawers - I think I'll need wagons or skips before I can think about sorting drawers.:rotfl:

    Must admit it's daunting

Empty the contents of the undies / socks drawers into a big bin bag, take the bag and sit in front of the telly and sort through them - that way time just seems to fly by.

Fold the ones you want to save into a box and then take the box back to the empty drawer and fill it.

I did this with paperwork as well - it just made sorting it less daunting as it was done in comfort and with Colin Firth (yum yum) for company rather than surrounded by chaos in the rooms I was sorting.

I was born idle so if there's an easy way. I'll find it ;).

:) I do various crafts and have a tiny home, so have had to learn to be creative.

For threads, ribbons, buttons, scissors etc etc, I use a blockwood cabinet originally made to house a CD/DVD collection. It's 14 inches deep by 25 inches wide by 33 inches tall. It has a shelved cupboard with two sections which pull out with more shelves and a drawer underneath.

My sewing stash lives segregated into those oblong F3rr3r0 R0che boxes, threads separated by colour, ribbons and trimmings wound around carbdboard and stashed in the boxes.

For me, it was the culmination of lots of experimentation over the years involving fishing tackle/ tool boxes, baby-change boxes, wicker hampers etc etc.

I shopped for a piece of furniture which would fit the very small space in the living room between the end of my sofa and the door jamb; I had a maximum (very small!) size I could accomodate, but would have considered a small COD. I got this from a BHF charity shop and am thrilled with how useful it is.

Yarn is lurking in bags and baskets all over the place and I have had to be very ruthless with myself about acquiring more fabric, as still have some of the airing cupboard and a few storage boxes harbouring it.

I think if you're of the crafty persuasion, you need to have some toys to play with or you won't be joyful.

I decided 2017 was the year to actually use my craft stuff rather than just looking at it and going "My precious, we loves it don't we My Precious"!!:rotfl:
    Must use my stash up!

:o Ummm, as a tender hand strokes across the fabric, or one admires the wool on the skein or in the ball, and shudders at the prospect of defiling it with scissors or needles.......

Ooooh yes, been there, done that.:p

I am now on Day 3 of One Mug Living and I have to say it is transformative. I have put the other seven mugs away in an awkward place and because I know I can't get them easily, I just wash & go with the One Mug.

All of a sudden, the kitchen counters aren't cluttered with washing up, and it's the only change I have made, so must be responsible.

Hello all...delurking to say reading about everyone's km adventures is a delight!

It took me about two months to km my home, and I have a feeling I'm going to go over everything again in the spring...it won't take nearly as long as I don't have anything like as much stuff as I had, but having got rid of the worst of it, I feel there's definitely more to go now my joy antennae is properly tuned!

On the topic of craft stuff...one of the big things I noticed was that instead of it all being packed away in boxes in the depths of a cupboard, once I'd decluttered I actually had the space to store it properly so it was easy to get out and use. Once I started using it more often, then I could see what was joyful and what wasn't, so I could rebalance what I had so it really reflects what I like and my tastes...a totally unexpected benefit. So maybe if you get stuck, declutter around your stash, rather than start with the stash :)

I have a theory that dishwashers create clutter and more problems than they are mostly worth. We have three shelves of mugs - probably equating to around 25 mugs  Most of the time there are three of us here. But you use a mug, put it in the dishwasher (well i do, the others just pile them up on the side) and then get a fresh one when you want a cuppa. Growing up at home, there were 6 of us and we had 6 mugs. you literally had 'your' mug, which was rinsed and then reused and washed occasionally. My OH has suggested getting a second butter dish for when it is in the dishwasher - i told him to get on his bike. After he'd washed the butter dish up....

Wise words firebubble. Once things are easily accessible they get used, or you realise they are not joyful and they can be released!
jellie and GQ, you sound like you have the stash sorted so it is easy to see/choose and you obviously love crafting!
I enjoying making things but have absolutely no talent or skills, so sometimes the makes are a bit hilarious :rotfl: I ocassionally manage to make something pretty and or useful :D I enjoy trying though, so I have a small craft stash and it is suitably stored. Only, problem is that the multipurpose room where it resides is currently, er, a bit of a tip! Well, a bit full, shall we say. No option because the suitcases that usually reside on the stairhead holding linens (no airing cupboard or other cupboards in this little house), are in there awaiting holiday clothes and snorkelling gear :D:D

Encouraged a client to release 4 pillows that are surplus to surplus requirements (ie, she has loads of pillows and only 2 users!) and 2 bedspreads that are also surplus that have been in an underbed drawer for at least 8 years, untouched. She has, however, bought 3 more towels in the sales... I am itching to get my hands on the airing cupboard stacked to the brim with linens and she has said this is something we will tackle in spring :)

ETA - yes, yes, VJsmum, you are so right! I asked mum if she would release one of the 3 dinner services (all cheap) but she said she needed them because of the dishwasher. There are only the 2 folks living there.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Our life was re-organised when DH specified one mug per person per day. It started when we had builders in, and as we often have people visiting used mugs can very quickly get out of hand.

Very interesting info on the craft stash. I need to revisit my fabric 'store' (mostly upcycled), but just piled anyhow into a large plastic bin. Am thinking now of sorting it into colour coded smaller see through boxes - thanks for the tips.
