Well done Prudence & welcome! Lurgy is moving towards my chest so I'm trying to keep it at bay ( DH kindly pouring medicinal brandies - at least I managed to get a good nights sleep!) I did manage to have a minor Kondo of some of my shoes and photographed 6 pairs to go on the Bay of E and 3 redundant handbags as I'm no longer working. Couldn't face the paperwork mountain so perhaps another run at it tomorrow ;)

    Welcome prudence.

Kondoed a lovely afternoon with dd2 and DGS

I'm now kondoing some of the YS mushrooms I got cheap at the weekend and some mulled wine left over from Christmas (bottle won in raffle) to make a mushroom stroganoff for tea.

I've folded and decorated another 6 books over the weekend so some ribbons and wrapping paper used up. The books can go back to the CS at the weekend.
Did some knitting over the weekend so a couple more little oddment balls used up on hats that will go to the local baby hospital.

Stash is slowly being used up and leaving.

Also a couple of items of my clothing didn't spark joy when I was refolding them so they are in the CS bag along with a pair of too short for ds2 school trousers.

Dd2 has bought round 3 bags of spare clothes that will go up to the school tomorrow, any they don't want will go to the CS.

My laundry has just come back from the hotel laundry... knickers were kondo-folded :D. Never seen them come back like this from anywhere else ... (so were tops, but that's not quite so surprising...)
:T Woo, you're not in Japan, by any chance?

I've been busily gardening at the weekend, so not much time at home, never mind kondo-ing, but my washing-machine obviously felt kondoesque because it seems to have eaten a flannel.

Hope it doesn't get indigestion, but I have a few spare flannels, so not going to suffer much from its loss.:rotfl:

I turfed out a cache of cards from a significant birthday and put in recycling/ shredded the bits with personal stuff on. Good to have them gone (I'm not particularly heartless, I enjoyed the emotions of receiving the cards, but don't need the tangible reminders of them hanging around).

Itching to get back to Mount Kondo aka the parental home. I'm planning to visit for the weekend in a couple of weeks. Who knows what I might accomplish...........?

    Welcome prudence kitten :T

Yesterday I made the most of the mild weather, and had weed and tidy of the garden, kondoing some old pots

Today had to go dd2 s to wait for electrian, so made my self useful cleaning the kitchen. Which had me ready for cleaning my own home when I got back. I find myself now thinking how I can reduce more to maybe get rid of a wardrobe in my bedroom. Its only a single wardrobe and has a hanging rail and 1 shelf . tbh there isn't too much in it but I am not wanting to squash them into other wardrobes!
Also I have a couple of storage boxes under the bed, should I move them first ?
    Decisions, decisions :rotfl:
Working out the best configuration is hard work !!

:) KM herself is adamant that you do not sort storage until you have finished kondoing. Yes, she acknowledges you might need to get things out of the way temporarily whilst you continue decluttering, but the final configuration is best left until the Stuff is gone.

Who knows, something presently being put to some other purpose might be the perfect thing, or you might end up so decluttered you don't need the storage.

    Hi prudence

I am revisiting books this week. I've already had a huge clear out of them but couldn't quite get them all on my now tiny bookshelf so am going through my cookbooks and being ruthless. If a book has less than 10 recipes in I love/want to try I am going to scan the recipes I do like and get rid of the book. I've also started making a lot more use of my local library rather than buying books on my kindle so less electronic clutter as well. I'm a bit of a book buying addict so saving cash too.
I've still got a bag on the go for clothes, even tho I don't have very much now, somethings are still showing up that I can't be bothered with...a lovely pair of black jeans that every time I wear collect fluff from the air...not joyful so away they go.
I'm thinking of kondoing the tumble dryer as well. I honestly can't remember the last time it was used and it's just taking up space but I also have little moments of panic thinking what if I get rid of it then discover I need it in an emergency. But realistically how many tumble drying emergencies am I going to have compared with the joy of more space :)

Unexpected cancellation today, dd1 has decided that I NEED to go and collect her bag she ordered (and paid for), I, on the other hand did have other ideas on how to spend my time. One of which is to go through two drawers under the bed, I think they have old bed stuff in that was for when we went sun holiday at caravan but as we now use sleeping bags I think they are redundant.

I have been a bit slow at putting away the Xmas decorations as I did want to sift through them and check I got rid of ones not used, broken etc. what I had not realised is how much I have got rid of, so much so that I can fit the boxes on top of the wardrobe and tree under bed so they don't have to go in the loft. At this rate nothing we be in the loft!

And the best thing about all this is I have not missed any of it, I couldn't even tell you what I got rid of!

  • Lollyfin, I haven't had a tumble dryer for over 20 years, on the grounds of running costs and environmental costs. How often do you really need to dry something urgently? If it's in the wash, I find something else to wear - I think if I had a tumble dryer I'd be tempted to wash things at the last minute because I could, if you know what I mean.

I have a heated airer from Lakeland for the days when it's too wet to peg out. Takes up next to no space when folded and costs pennies to run. Think of the space your dryer takes up!
