Going to continue sorting out the sentimental stuff.

Also found love letters sent to my hubby which Im frankly embarassed by and wouldnt want anyone else to read. I want to get rid of them but OH doesnt know I found them. Would it be bad of me to get rid of without asking?

You are tackling similar things to me Mothershipton! ( wasn't Mother Shipton a soothsayer/for teller of prophecies BTW??) Anyway I too have been through some sentimental things - well a box that was put in a cupboard about 20 years ago and I have known exactly what was in it in all that time. Last night I took the plunge and opened it up. Lots of memories. Nothing bad but not much I want to hang on to. There was a pile of 20 year old Christmas cards - crikey they were boring looking things 20 years ago - most of the senders are long since dead:( Significant adults from my childhood who kept in touch such as my guide leader, retired high school teacher, lady who lived next door throughout my childhood and a few relatives. Also in there where exercise books from school - DD2 has been having a good laugh over them this morning especially A level Chemistry and Biology which she is also taking. There are also some scrap books from my late teens and I suppose saddest thing was a scrap book I have of my sisters who I havent spoken to in over 20 years:(. There was a copy of my masters dissertation and all my notes - why? I have a bound one on the shelf and if I really wanted to read it again ( not) there is a copy in the university library!! Anyway I have kept one Christmas card - the last one I ever got from my mother. One school book from my first year in school - my pictures are fab and still very vibrant and I can actually remember writing in that book ( cant remember the high school stuff :D) Dissertation, cards books all in recycle now. I am going to dismantle my scrap books and make one decent one. My sisters I will keep for now.

I too found some old letters - well I knew where they were but I got them out in the summer hols when OH was away and had a good old chuckle and cry over them. The ones from OH I threw away - burnt on log fire! The others where from that first love......you know, the one that really hurts, in that when you are apart its a physical pain........I looked him up on FB just out of curiosty........:eek: he has done well but the years have not been kind. I didn't make contact, think I got the better option.............:rotfl:.............still cant part with those letters though...........it will happen but not today;)

Right 2 bin bags and a box of books for CS later today - will tot up total later:T

Tricky one MotherShipton - can see why you wouldn't want anyone but DH to read them but maybe it would be best to ask (diplomatically) as he has obviously kept them. They may not mean as much now but there again you never know what's in his beating heart :A

Claiming 25 items deposited at CS - in truth it is more but a lot where tiny items so I counted them together. I did come away with 2 things but in my defense they are for work and were an absolute bargain - retail for about £20-£25 and where hardly used. Cost me £4 for 2 :) They are in the boot ready for Monday - not coming into the house!!

  • RL got in the way of my good KM intentions today, however I have managed to tackle my dress containing wardrobe. Lots of dresses have been thanked and either ear marked for friends or the CS, along with lots of joyous discoveries of dresses I forgot I even had.

My wardrobe is now a joy as my dresses are no longer squashed in and I've sorted them according to intended purpose (work, posh function, summer, holiday etc.). Thanks GQ I noted that tip from one of your posts.:T

Lots of stuff to address in the bottom of the wardrobe but that'll come later after clothing has been completed. It would have been tempting to dive in but I'm trying to focus on one category at a time...

Roll on tomorrow; hopefully I'll find a bit of time to KM some more between the kids activities.

It's time to consider whether I want to bring home any holiday souvenirs. I have restircted myself to practical items in the recent past, such as a pretty tray or some nice locally made soap, so not too bad. This year I have not felt inclined to buy anything except a pretty notebook so I can make notes of plans post-redundancy! :D
DH, who is not big on buying souvenirs (are any men?), surprised me by announcing that he had seen a beautiful shell wall hanging that he thought would look lovely in the bathroom. He is right, I agreed that it is very lovely, so he bought it for me as a Valentine present. :j

the only other things that will come home are two handmade greetings cards we bought on a craft stall (already have recipients in mind, they won't stay in our home for long!), and the massive yellowing bruises that DH is still sporting :rotfl: thankfully he is recovering well so we can laughabout it now. I know he's getting better because he is not 'ouching' and groaning so much when I drive over another pothole in the hire car :rotfl::rotfl:

My laundry has just come back from the hotel laundry... knickers were kondo-folded :D. Never seen them come back like this from anywhere else ... (so were tops, but that's not quite so surprising...)

Good day yesterday doing annual budget and checking to see if any bills can be reduced etc.

Also washed plastic baskets found in the back of a kitchen cupboard which can be used to tidy another cupboard. Found some more paper to put in recycling.

Today will attempt to clear some more paper off desk by filling in some forms to go in the post tomorrow and tidy some more of the shelving using new plastic boxes.

Bought several things in the sales over the last few weeks which have been needed for a while. I think Kondoing has created the space for me to be able to do the research and ordering of them that I didn't have time for before as well as the physical space to put them when they arrived.

Well kitchen cleaned/tidied whilst listening to Ambridge Omnibus ;) finished earlier than I thought - possibly due to KM'd kitchen but more likely because went out for dinner at friends last night :) So catching up on here with the last 10 mins of Archers. Recycle boxes filled. Fridge cleaned out, oven done, large piece of YS beef defrosted over night for dinner tonight an now slow cooking in oven. Have to do a food shop today and then will have to kondo the millstone that is dragging me down...................
