Lollyfin, I've never had a tumble dryer even when the five kids were little we managed by using airing rack and radiators. Don't have a dishwasher either (sorry I lie that's Dh but he has minimal running costs does a good job and is very easy on the eye so he's staying)SPC~12 ot 124

Thanks grey queen, clothes are my worst category and although they are all sorted and behind doors , I'm itching to clear more.
I definitely have stopped buying and even looking at clothes the same way, but it brings me joy to wear nice clothes. I suppose part of the problem is wanting a choice when going out or meeting friends but that doesn't happen all the time.
I have a uniform for work and when at home it tends to be joggers and tops so I'm warm and comfy wether cleaning or sitting !
All holiday clothes are in box under bed, and dresses for night in wardrobe with coats.7 dresses for 14 nights!!
Lollyfin I don't have a dryer ,I get what I can outside if it's dry, then finish on airer in spare room. Years ago I had a washer / dryer and even then it barely was used as I always worried about the cost as it seemed to run for hours!!!!
Tibawo my loft is empty except for my Xmas wrapping paper and a clock which belonged to dh before I met him and no longer works, but is too heavy for me to lug out of there !! It feels great having nothing up there wish I could say the same about the garage :rotfl:Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

Lollyfin - I have a washer/dryer, I don't use the dryer cycles often but I love having the option
Wort - I'm also trying to get rid of a single wardrobe, lending it to my flatmate so though it's now empty, he needs to clear floor space for it!
I'm getting a very strong pull to re-kondo my clothes. Everytime my illness retreats for a bit, I dive into reducing belongingsenjoying being able to

Yay!!! Well done! Was it peanut butter that tempted them in the end?:T
The peanut butter sure tempted them, and they ate all the peanut butter in the 5 traps, but the traps did not 'spring'. In the end I stuck a piece of cheese firmly on the needle in the humane trap, and that has caught both mice.
Now I need to clear and clean the attic, because mice are incontinent creatures, and leave a trail of poo and pee behind them.....Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -

Hi all. Delighted to see a new thread. I bought the book and followed some of last years thread. I got half way through the book and had made some great inroads with tip, charity, giving to friends etc when ..... oops I Kondoed the old man early December. So will have to start again from the beginning with book, tho house is stunningly more tidy and ordered than I'd dreamt of.FEB 2011 NSD's 1/140

Thanks for those links slinky. I think we came to realise a while ago wD etched "peak stuff" less is more than enough is definately my mantra now.
I've been really enjoying crafting over the weekend because I know everything I'm making is leaving the house to benefit a good cause and now when we watch DVDs I am almost more pleased when Dh says afterwards 'think that was a one watch don't you' which means it will be passed on to a friend work colleague or the CS.
Still got loads to kondo but it's definately bringing me joy to see it leaving.SPC~12 ot 124

Interesting, thank you for those links.
It's long been known to the head-shrinkers that, once you've achieved a certain, relatively-modest degree of comfort, ease and choice, More Stuff doesn't equal More Happiness. Just the reverse.
The ancients called this ennui, a feeling of being bored and mentally tired because of having nothing interesting to do.
I was once of a trip of a lifetime and did something I'd always wanted to do; a trip in a hot air balloon. At silly o'clock. Was back from trip at 08.00 am. What do you do with the rest of a day which started with ballooning up to 7,000 feet at dawn? Nothing else is going to come close to that level of excitement. So I had half a day of ennui before I snapped out of it. A salutory lesson.
Imagine how boring life would be if you could do whatever you wanted, money no object, whenever you wanted. How bored you'd get, and how quickly.
Consumerism is a bit like that. I once owned as single pair of shoes. One of them let in the rain. The deep deep joy when I could afford to replace them with a pair of shoes which didn't leak is still clear, thirty years on.
I wouldn't have been twice as joyous with two new pairs of leak-proof shoes, nor ten times as joyous with ten new pairs. I was dry-shod even in the rain, and that was Enough.Confession time; I have never ever bought a pair of new curtains in my entire life, nor has my mother before me. Curtains last infinately longer than our fads and fashions, and my luverly N e x t curtains were a cinch and cost under a fiver at a bootsale. Will probably last me another twenty years or so............:rotfl:
