KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Well the urge didn't leave so I have had a switch round of wardrobes , I have 2 jackets and 1 coat on the bay of E, and bag full of jackets and clothes for the cs.
I will keep the single wardrobe to see how well the new configuration works! I think it will need a couple of tweeks but I'm hopeful that it will leave.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Kondoing still proceeding gently, not able to devote long stretches of time, but even the odd 30 minutes or hour is showing good rewards.:D
Today a very large bad of un-needed dog toys, leads, grooming equipment went to the CS for the local rescue centre, some they may sell, other things will go to the kennels for the dogs in residence. A small bag of clothes past their best gone for rags at CS too and this evening will see what I can find to take to "my" CS tomorrow.
I needed to put away some statements etc, so spent a very profitable hour going through a large pile of stuff that had not got as far as the filing cabinet, some shredded and an awful lot of envelopes and paper Komono went off in the recycling box today. I know it was not done the "correct" way, but it made no sense to me to just sort out half a dozen items and just add them to the in need of attention heap.
I will have a tidier home and a lighter life, it may take quite a while, but no problem, I am actually enjoying the ride and this time not exhausting myself in the process. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hi Maddiemay, I have found that on these occasions your feelings lead you, and that is fine. You probably would not have done so much if you had tried to follow the 'correct' order.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590

I am now one wardrobe down
felt so pleased about it that I rearranged the other 2 wardrobes in my room and am aching now. It has been well worth it, just need to sort where some smaller bits will go. I did however bring in a narrow corner unit from the living room. It matches better in its new position, it is a CS rescue of serviceable but ugly stained wood veneer, so it and 2 chest of drawers with plastic outsides got painted magnolia and varnished. They look so much better all the same room. Oh, I feel the need to point out that I'm not a complete furniture vandal as all the wardrobes are gorgeous woods and loving looked after as such, I just couldn't put up with the ugly modern versions!
Two wardrobes sounds like loads of clothes, and I do still have loads of clothes but I'm happy to wear them to ragging pointone of the wardrobes is as much use for a clean laundry basket (for the days the ME prevents sorting and folding) and a decent supply of faux fur. So I can kid myself on that it's not that much storage for clothes, honest...
:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Hi everyone! Just had 2 medical procedures yesterday and today which I am very happy to have gone. One was quite invasive so a bit tender at the moment.
I did kondo the contents of the shed at the weekend as it is on its last legs and has something using it as an hotel judging from the droppings.......now I have a strong stomach but was heaving and wrenching all over the place! Shudder.... Will be replacing hotel wooden shed with 2 small plastic ones when the weather is better. More weather proof, less inviting as an hotel to beasties (bleurgh) and no large spiders to evict! I'm ashamed to say I did shriek a few times. What a wuss!0 -
You ought to see me gingerly turfing out my allotment shed in early summer, Joyfully. Daren't leave it until late summer/ autumn as the spiders are truly huge at that time of year. And many a shriek as I've disturbed a monster arachnid.
You know what's worse than finding a huge spider in your flat? Finding one, and then losing sight of it. *shudders* If you're a wuss, I'm a wuss, too.
Just finished processing the last of the allotment beetroots which I harvested on Sunday, most of them into preserves, some into the fridge in vinegar. Kitchen looks like some kind of massacre has taken place, reddish splatters everywhere, must go and de-grunge it.
Nighty-night.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Oh GQ - never thought you'd be a wuss with spiders! They are the lovely ladies that eat the midges, flies and nasties and all they want is to put their curtains up and be left alone! I have a gorgeous lady in my greenhouse. I admit if she Pops out when I'm moving something she does give me a start but only cos I'm not expecting her! She's almost asbig as my palm but does keep the spider mites etc at bay! I do talk to her as she does give me Joy lol. I've even named her ( Gabriela) and she will definitely not be kondoed when I do my spring clear out. Happy to help anyone move their ladies for them;)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

The peanut butter sure tempted them, and they ate all the peanut butter in the 5 traps, but the traps did not 'spring'. In the end I stuck a piece of cheese firmly on the needle in the humane trap, and that has caught both mice.
Now I need to clear and clean the attic, because mice are incontinent creatures, and leave a trail of poo and pee behind them.....
Sorry to rain on your parade but unless you find where/how the mice are getting into your attic/house......the next family are very likely to move in. Speaking from experience....we took advice from a pest controller and he told us we would probably be fighting a losing battle as we live in a 150 year old house in a rural location with lots of tiny nooks and crannies - perfect for rodents:rotfl: And he was right..........so we live with the scampering noises and make sure anything in the attic is well wrapped/boxed up and we use traditional traps and poison - sorry ! to keep on top of them. Not loads of mice...but enough:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

We are thinking it was a pregnant mouse that was brought in by the neighbours' cat, into the neighbours' house, and then moved from their attic to ours. I will keep eyes and ears open, though!Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590

Tumble dryer: never owned one. Love my washing line dried and will get it out there even for an hour or so!
Dishwasher: I am ashamed to admit, here is an appliance I would not be without!
Curtains: same curtains up in our LR that I made over 25 years ago when we moved in! Office/study has curtains from bedroom of our first house - 2 houses ago, and thinking about it the curtain at the bottom of the stairs ( stairs straight into LR) also came from that house  I had never thought about it before...........!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
