KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Some of my previous and very joyous KM'd areas have slipped back over the past couple of weeks while this horrid cold was pulling me down, but started getting them back on track this morning, who knew that folding one's socks a certain way could give such pleasure and an odd feeling of calmness somehow:D
Bedroom needs to be completely accessible to the TV/aerial man tomorrow morning, felt a bit rough after my PT session this morning, so now I must go and get on straightening things, nothing like a deadline to concentrate the mind:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Completely agree, did some sock/knicker folding yesterday evening. Am wondering if it counts as me-time !

I like folding clothes, too. We must all be as mad as a box of frogs, you do realise?
Came home and picked up a small box which was just a fraction too big for the wally trolley and took it and a small bag of Stuff up to the chazzer. Had a wee chat and came away empty-handed.
The manager is a pal and has been thrilled to get a lot of donations in this week as things were looking a bit iffy last month. He told me something I hadn't understood (this is a national chain chazzer); that they move stock from branch to branch, and some branches in poorer areas are utterly reliant on donations from other towns and cities. His branch is one of the main feeders of several market town branches and if they're low, they can't pass stock.
If those chazzers aren't flush with donations, the weaker ones go to the wall and have to close. This has happened to one of this chain's sister-branches in the region, unfortunately.
Soooo, lovely peeps, dig deep into those piles and kondo like crazy, they need the Stuff!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I kondod some fridge leftovers into a pasta bake tonight and some free wood onto the fire. It all counts...honest!
I can't put my knickers away without folding them or I get jittery.

Folding clothes, I love it!! Never thought I'd say that :rotfl:
I folded and filed lots today, for a client. Also rolled towels and placed them in colour order in their large airing cupboard. It looked soooo nice
Kondo'd a bag of rubbish to tip on the way home. Finished the stock-up - got everything except one item on my list (so shall just keep an eye out). Tomorrow I shall excavate the store cupboard to rotate dates and ensure it all fits in neatly. Like GQ I consider myself a bit of a packing hexpert :rotfl: I also like a challenge!
Dad asked me to choose and buy an xmas pressie for mum from him (he can't get out anymore
and often struggles to think of something she would like, so I step in to help). This does mean that I now have a fairly sizeable box of pressies taking up space in our tiny house but I am pleased with the choices so it'll be worth the temporary mild annoyance of having the box in the way!
This is another MK success.
I am organised on the present front and the store cupboard, and I have all the sundries we need for our wintersun hols (neatly packed in a cabin bag as temp storage, with an itemised list on the top for easy reference).
Perhaps now I should sign up for some 'no spend days' elsewhere on here!
Oh yeh, the last pair of big trousers has also left the building :rotfl:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Well done on the too-big trousers, MMF007! Getting rid of things which don't fit because they're too big must rate high on the joyousness scale.
Speaking of scales, I am sitting here looking at two sets of them. And three sets of weights.
One set of trad style balance scale has been mine for about 20 years (cast-off from Mum when she replaced these cheapy tinplate and plastic ones with nice cast-iron and brass ones). Perfectly adequate for my very occasional needs to weigh anything - I cook by throwing things into pans until they look about right. This mostly works out OK.
They came with a set of oz weights. Several years ago, she decided I should benefit from a set of metric weight so they came as a gift at Xmas. During Nan's bungalow clearance, another set of balance scales surfaced, which Mum decided were better than mine, and another set of oz weights (Nan held no truck with grammes).
Soooo, up the new-to-me scales and weights came in the car and they have been sitting on the rug in the living room since last Sunday. The cupboard where my scales live is presently empty (party wall-o-damp) and my own scales are roosting on the wall unit.
I've had time to review my original intention to swop out my old scales for these ones and have decided to release the ones from Nan's. They are bigger than mine, and thus claim more real estate in a small home. I don't need them and they wouldn't have been my first choice.
Neither would have been the ones which I already have, but they do the job just fine and one day, gentle reader, I will inherit the beautiful cast iron and brass ones. And then these can go.
And the scales fell from GQ's eyes, as she wondered how much more straightforward life would be if she actually liked flat modern battery powered scales.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

and if you get distracted eg because you need to go and get another bag of flour out of stores, they turn themselves off and you can't remember how much you've already weighed out:mad:It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

And not much beats the satisfaction of guessing just right and seeing the scales balance beautifully first goIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

DH due to arrive back home after four weeks in mother country does add amazing speed to clearing and cleaning
Lots of dds' drawings have been kondoed, all rooms have been cleaned, dds are wearing their best dresses, and we will leave in 30 minutes to pick him up from the train station.
In a spare five minutes I decided to read through some more old letters. They are in a small cute little wicker basket and I just did a lucky dip, and what comes up but my first bf's cards and letters? I had a very quick read thriugh about twelve letters, took the stamps off for charity, and put the rest with the old paper.
