Been multi tasking this morning. Filing up to date and loads shredded while ripping some of my CD's onto my PC so I can make a compilation for my car and pass the originals on. CS bag slowly filling up. So far there's a pair of cut off's that don't give me joy, a retractable washing line that's still in its original packing (?) a small plastic CD storage box, a pair of shoes that were given me - right size but wrong width, 4 'mood' CD's and a cotton bag from the Tokyo National Museum that's too small for any practical purpose! I usually pass the CS on a Friday so there's plenty of time for more to go in there.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

A few more things into CS bag and a couple of non-recyclables binned. A top I thought was joyous but a bit on the tight side is not joyous at all. Just did not spark joy, merely annoyance when I realised that although it now fits it doesn't look right on and so...... into CS bag!
Should have time tomorrow between jobs to pop into CS with the goodies.
'To do' list for the rest of the week is quite busy! but proper planning and a sensible order should mean I can get them done. Have checked online for prices of a few store cupboard essentials and plan on mini-stock up (not major, no room for too much!).
Rang friend and organised, i) to take HM soup round on Thurs, ii), to go out to lunch in 2 weeks' time
Multipurpose room looking very tidy and everything is so accessible, it's a dream :j
Discussed possible cull of dvds with DH but he says the only ones we have are unwatched and he's working his way through them, or a very few we revisit (Phoenix Nights etc :rotfl:). Fair enough. They are stored neatly so no problem or angst associated with them.
A friend rang to ask what she could get us for xmas. DH wants some jazzy swim shorts but I am thinking an experience of some sort, not decided yet, I am sure the woo will pop something lovely into my mind! :eek:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
New joyful sofas (old ones have had it - frame broken, springs gone, cushions won't plump up) have been ordered (may arrive before Xmas) Spare covers for old sofas have therefore been recycled and airing cupboard re KMd at the same time. Did not get rid of any bedding nor towels but did reorganise. Will see if DD wants another duvet at uni as I know her halls are cold (she currently already has an all-seasons one but already has both layers on and is cold) and I also found a spare flannelette single sheet she can have to go under her sheets (the mattresses have plastic on and are cold and noisy) Also got rid of some of the excess coathangers in there. Once ironing is all up straight will reassess coathangers again. Whole shelf of space created so some of the family games from DS1's room can now live in there instead
Have a few small pieces to list on fleabay tonight and a cupboard from DS1's room to relist on fbook.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Thanks for that linkie, very interesting. I could pop the ends of my rads up but they wouldn't come off. Didn't like to force it as Shoebox Towers is on a communal heating plant and we have special rads. As in, so pressurised that they can't be bled. But, I had a LBM, and managed to grab the ornament with a pair of long tweezers and am now doing the happy dance, yippee! Gonna donate the bliddy thing before it runs off again.
Did two trolley runs to the chazzer after work and had a lovely wee chat about how pleased they are with the donations and how much they've sold things for, so feel all warm on the inside.
Dad and Aunt have gone together to the solicitor to get Nan's will and only got charged £5 for something official being signed. Who knew it was even possible to have an appt with a solicitor and get charged only £5?!:rotfl:
Cousin, who has been estranged from her mother (Aunt) even rang her to ask if there was enough money for Nan's head stone? There is, it is at the mason's having Nan's details added to Grandad's stone, as per her instructions. Bearing in mind these two haven't spoken for nearly a quarter of a century until the last weeks when sorting out Nan's bungalow, it's somewhat astonishing. At this time of year, it's a tradition to visit the local graves of our family members who died in the world wars and put those wooden poppy crosses on their graves. Dad and Aunt did this today, and Aunt had the brainwave of visiting a distant relation-by-marriage who lived nearby. She is an elderly lady now but also worked on the farm alongside my Dad in the 1950s.
She was thrilled to have some paperwork relating to two of her uncles who died in WW1 and also enjoyed a reminising about the old days with my Dad. More good feelings.
Oh, and another freegle pickup has happened and a PITA neighbour just told me they're moving soon, can barely contain the joy!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Great news GQ, about the neighbour kondoing themselves. I hope the housing authority sends someone suitable in their place.
I'm pleased that friends who used to overwhelm me with gifts which did not spark joy, joined me on Sunday for a joint celebration of both their birthdays - my shout. We visited a delightful tea room and we all had our own choice of refreshment and a sweet treat.
We had a good matter and catch up, and I could see that the message of "presence, not presents" had finally been heard when they agreed with my suggestion that I take them out for afternoon tea for their Christmas, in the post festive weeks of early 2017, when an outing can brighten a dull winter's day.
In turn, they said they are cutting back on gift giving and would treat me to a different afternoon tea jaunt. Something to look forward to, and no unwanted gifts to be kondoed at Christmas time! Result! :j0 -

Would a duvet underneath the bottom sheet help ?"This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
I have just done what seems anti kondoing and ordered two new bedside tables which are taller, wider and have an extra drawer so I can store away my prescriptions etc.
In the long run the original bedside units will be used in the spare bedrooms so will still be used and I will not be knocking my glasses etc off the top of a bedside table. They are also about £50 cheaper for the pair than the other ones I was considering.
A really good deal came up for fresh meat that can be repackaged and frozen so I ordered that as well.
DD has just reminded me that the weigh in tomorrow is a taster night so I need to make something from the two of us.
Decided to use what I have and make a crustless quiche and hummous pate."This site is addictive!"

Hi greent, would a woollen underlay work against the cold bed, or at least a molton? Washing her feet before she goes to bed, and then putting socks on, helps as well. Any bedding (and curtains, weirdly enough) with polyester in, will cause sweatyness, which she will want to avoid.
Thank youHer bedding is all cotton - and the rooms have no curtains - just a thin roller blind
Would a duvet underneath the bottom sheet help ?
I'm definitely going to get her to do this Elona - we've done this before and it makes a real difference
