    :) Evening all.

Ye olde orange & lemon plate has been used today and was joyful. A perfect small way to connect with a happy memory without having six cups, siz saucers and six side plates to find a home for (unpossible).

Just been wrapping some birthday presents for next month, with paper from the stash, and tags from the stash, and cards (you guessed it - from the stash).:rotfl: Belatedly realised that this comin weekend will probably the last time the car will be in the city before the birthday time, and it'd be great not to have these things to drag around on the bus early in December.

Things GQ has taken on public transport:

    1. A large glazed framed artwork (400 miles in a coach locker).

    2. A life-size portrait clay bust. (across town).

    3. An uplighter (70 mile round trip).

    4. A bicycle frame sans wheels (30 miles one way).

    5. A lot of crockery (hold luggage across Europe).

And many small things too numerous and humerous to mention or, indeed, recall accurately.

:o No wonder I dream of minimalism, hey?

Hope everyone's having a good time, I will be back at the familial home tomorrow night (glutton for punishment, me) to sort out some more Stuff to ride back to the city on Sunday. We will also find time just to Be, rather than Do. The cats will assist with this, as The Queen of Sheba loves nothing more than a lap, and Wild Thing likes to lie on your feet.

WT, a cat who even cat-lovers with decades of cat-serving experience look at with bafflement and quoth; she's not right, is she?

More stuff has come in than gone out this week but it's all for my small business and will all be leaving again in the next 4 weeks once it's been made into something else. I've related it all to the conservatory for now so I can ignore it.

Kondod my flu to DH, how kind of me. it's not what he said but I'll leave that to your imagination.

We have 7 birthdays within 5 weeks this time of year, all cards and gifts are written and wrapped and awaiting a less germy time to hand them out, but they're annoying me cluttering up the hallway bookcase.

:) Hope you and the DH are soon fully-recovered. I have long been of the opinion that one cannot recover from an infectious disease until one has passed it on to a certain amount of other people.

Finished the last chapter of a book before breakfast and put it straight into the donation bag. I find having one on the go at all times helpful. Instead of stashing entertainment items like novels for periodic clear-outs, I enjoy then donate.

This means my shelves don't get rammed and that items circulate whilst they are still popular and likely to be wanted by others, thus spreading the joy and spreading the money for the charities.

Going to work then heading out of the city. Just realised that the next time I see the micro-flat, it will be with four of us carrying no end of Stuff inside - eeek! Better clear the counter where my new-from-Nan's microwave is going to live.

Have a good day, lovely peeps. GQ x

    GQ have a restful weekend.

Need to revisit some areas of clothes - am gradually wearing bras & knickers in a logical order, then culling the poor fit / uncomfortable ones. Socks have already been done, I've just got my nest of opaque tights out of storage and need to sort, untangle and roll them into some semblance of order. Jumpers also need some attention - I have several cashmere v-neck's, which rarely get worn now so can be gently hand washed and put on fleabay for someone else to enjoy.

I'm with GQ on the ever-present donation bag - currently holding a water pistol, drinks bottle with freezable cooler, several paperbacks and a chocolate fondue set which has lurked in the small galley kitchen cupboard for over 13 years, along with a le crueset fondue set, both of which have never been used as long as I've known DH. The LC one is attic-room bound, for DS2 to remove when they have a larger than postage-stamp kitchen.

I also need to apply the cat flea treatment, more for Justin than her but she spends a lot of time outside with the local, less cared-for cats and I don't want any visitors!

Being on a course that requires shed-loads of reading, I was advised at the beginning to read one book a month for pleasure. Which I have done, in the main. I also put myself on a book buying amnesty as they were building up, and not being read. Which i have kept to (in the main ;)). The shelves are easing and I am enjoying a re-found love of reading - not sure why I went away from it, i was always a book worm as a child and even as a younger adult. I would often have 3 on the go at once, one pure tat, one middle ground and one classic of some sort. Apart from Austen, the classics always took a while - it took me 2 years to read Vanity Fair :rotfl:

After trying to get beyond the first chapter many times, I eventually gave up on Captain Correlli's Mandolin :p

The same with any videos now - buy from the chazzer (or ent. exchange) watch and redonate.. We have one small shelf of 'keepers' (which are rarely watched).
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I'm so glad I'm not the only one - Tess of the D'Urbervilles is another I gave up on, along with Wild Swans :o

We had a discussion in our community cafe yesterday (I trapped the curate as she was there... and she spoke to the vicar), and I now need to organise a collection point in the church - and a notice in the parish magazine and shop - as we're going to collect for the local nightshelter and homeless charity in the church. The curate can do the drop-off when she visits them.

Must organise it this weekend and take all my stuff up to start the process off.

Brick Lane was the one I got halfway through - couldn't understand why it got awards. My lovely neighbour who has similar reading taste to me gave me a bag of books, none of which I've ever read. Going through them and donating when read (with her permission) DH keeps all his books and rereads time after time so the bookcase is stuffed! Trying to get him onto a Kindle for my sanity!

I have about 7 or 8 books that I have read and kept to re-read, including The Help and Louis de Bernieres' Broken Wings, which imho is far superior to Captain Corelli :)
I am good at reading and releasing to friends or CS.
I must admit that was my main bugbear as I considered a Kindle, not being able to,pass books on. Having been given a kindle I have resolved to read more classics that I would never have bought or borrowed!

Today is going to be a sorting out day.
i have Kondo'd recycling for kerbside collecton this morning.
Begun taking stock in kitchen to produce a 'needs' list for mini stock-up.
Emailed rellies about xmas arrangements (sorting out my lot is not easy!)
Begun a sort of macro 'to do' list for the big stuff over autumn / winter.
Planned to do a meal plan for the next few days!!

Will look out the recipes as promised but need breakfast first :D

    Catch you all later,

    M
