26 small tin that was supposed to house paracetamol etc. of course everyone just shoves the packets over, next to or in front of said tin

28 Too small to be of any use mug with my name on. Mum and dad bought it from their hols many moons ago, it's never been used. Thanked and donated

    30. Another tin that's pretty but useless
31 a bottle of raspberry vinegar so far out of date that, even for vinegar, it's too vinegary...
32-34 three lids with no matching pots (which obviously means I will find the pots... After the lids have left the building)

We say chuffed to bits/ chuffed to pieces down here (or just chuffed) :)

Congrats to your sil, MMF :)

Fantabulous - am betting that some of your mum's vintage pieces could be worth some ££ on Fleabay (or more specialised sites) What a brilliant start you've made :)

New CS pile started - small & cute ceramic flower pot (too small for my preference), a boxed set of 6 ice cream glass dishes (given to me by my mum a year ago when she sorted her kitchen - my kids thought they were fun for a while - but prefer the size of our Denby bowls - the glass ones mean small portions of ice cream, and my lot don't do small!! :D:D) & a small & useful tool kit in immaculate condition in a lovely case. We have lots of tools, so this cute kit can go off to someone else (we used to keep it as an indoor set in our old house - not sure it's been used in the 11 years we've lived in this one!:o:p) Will hopefully find some more to add to it before I take it there :)

2 brand new flexi hose tap connectors have been found - will put them up for sale for a few £ on fbk. 2 sanding pads have been used up (they were freebies and useless in reality) on garden table and have been binned. 3 dried up tester pots of paint have been binned. A toy golf set has been liberated from the outdoor play stuff (waaaay too small, even for our youngest) and will be off to the NNS :D

Now back out to the garden to continue sanding down the furniture before oiling it ready for Winter :)

Crikey, I go away for a day or two and there's pages of chat to catch up on! Congratulations, Tea Lady - sounds as if it's perfect timing. And welcome, Ruby-Eskimo and Fantabulous.

Re shoes: there's only me here, so nobody else to blame. In theory shoes live in a drawer in the double wardrobe upstairs. After MKing I got rid of a lot, but I know there are some that haven't been worn in the last year and it's probably time they went.

The reality is that they collect around the house wherever I kick them off! Every so often I return them to the bedroom. If I had a porch or even a larger hall, I'd have a shoe cupboard downstairs.

I'm currently running two dehumidifiers, both areas have had a dehumidifier running for a while now, and the volume of water (approx 1 tank full every 36 hours) doesn't seem to be reducing. Which is starting to bother me... Thermostat in the hall is showing humidity down from 57% last week to 51% now, but I have no idea how accurate that is! Or what it should be... Upstairs says 0%...

    :( It's a bit of a worry, isn't it?

I was growing a bit concerned that the party wall-o-damp wasn't drying out much/ at all. Bumped into next door yestereve and he said he thought that the water leak upstairs from him might still be going a little; turns out he's been doing the same thing as me, heating on and window open and it ain't helping.

I urged him to report it but he's a bit....... vague would be the kindest description so I've left the housing officer a message. If that leak is still running, even very slowly, it'll be a long time before I am able to move back into my cupboards.:(

:) On the positive side, the freegle pick-up happened whilst I was out at work. Plus, I have bought a pyrex with a plastic lid. Have wanted one that particular size and shape for some time (square) and wanted one with a lid, and there was one with both for £1.50.

I may review the pyrex collection and see if anything can leave in its stead.

Wow, fantabulous, you've made a fantastic start. Awesome.

:o Shoes. Blinking things. My hall is only 75 cm wide and full of doors so they can't live there, my bedroom just has enough floor space to stand on beside the bed and open the door, and my shoes are far too big to nestle daintily in one of those pockety things you can hang up. Where to put the blessed shoes?

I have one pair of shoes, one pair of trainers and one pair of slippers, plus a pair of old slip-on style flip-flops for slipping out to the communal bins. The trainers and shoes live on top of a storage box in the bedroom, the flip flops live in the bottom of the boiler cupboard and the slippers wander around and get in the way. My sandals have been put away for the winter in a shoe box.

If ever I am tempted to own more footwear, I remember the problems I have storing the few pairs I already own, and then feel disinclined to buy any more.

Folks, if ya live in a really small space, minimalism is definately a worthwhile hobby.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

    Everyone's been so busy!

Well done to your SIL with the job, MMF.
Tea Lady that's such good news for you and so exciting - there's nothing like the feeling of 'going home.'
And hello to Fantabulous and RubyEskimo.

Greent you sound so organised... and GQ, hope your cupboard can dry out soon

I've sent off a few parcels, and sadly (or not!) have also had to kondo a potential buyer due to their most unreasonable expectations. The item was under £4, and they wanted the 2.80 postage reducing to large letter when plainly the item would well exceed those dimensions (!!) then when I said nicely that I'd take it and see what the PO said, they didn't want me to do that and offered a pageful of suggestions as to how I might spend an hour or so doing some origami-style packing to make it fit into large letter size. Fortunately they had not paid, so after reading the 'instructions' I thought I just don't need £4-less-fees that much and cancelled the sale. It felt like a relief, which to me is pretty well up there with joy. It felt even better when I figured out how to block him/her from all my sales. :D

Paperwork continues but in a more relaxed and less-stressed way, feeling more in control of it now, and files are coming along nicely. Another bag of shred sits in the hall, but I'm not going out again tonight.
