KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

So, today I am in lunnon town about to enrol onto my PhD. Amazing, and, as someone at work said yesterday, "it started with clearing out your sock drawer".
Now that is magic I am looking for......cant give up the job unfortunately and would have to work around it but have had a PhD churning around my head for years now. I have sorted out my sock draw................:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Kondoing for me has definitely become a weekend thing. Just at the moment I have little time ( nor inclination ) to do anything when I get in from work as I frequently bring work home . 12 months ago, pre KM, I would have resented this and done anything to avoid a 'sort out' being just sick of it taking up so much of my time. Now I see the benefits, I almost ( er almost
) relish it. I can visualise the end product and with Tealady's fab post to look back on and VJ's 'magic' PhD opportunity to think about, I am even more determined

I'm just checking in after having gone quiet for a couple of weeks. What can I say, work got in the way and the last weekend DB was diagnosed with a DVT so we've been backwards and forwards to the hospital every day since!
However.... today I did manage to Kondo under the sink: and boy did it need it! How many tins of brass polish does one couple need especially when a) we don't actually have any brass to clean and b) some of the polish was from shops that closed down over a decade ago (it wouldn't have surprised me to find some priced in shillings in there!) It is now a beautiful space and I'm hoping to keep it that way.
VJsMum and Igamogam - I can thoroughly recommend a mid-life PhD. I joke it was my version of a mid-life crisis (I probably should have bought the sports car it might have been cheaper and would certainly have been less stressful) but it has lead me in a totally new direction which I love.

Tea lady What a lovely post just how I also feel
I love the feeling of just not caring anymore :rotfl:We have got really bad wind and rain here and also a leak has appeared in the conservatory roof. But I really dont care now.before I would have been in a right panic and running round trying to sort it out.
Now I have put a towel and a bowl under it and will have a look in the morning as there is bu**er all I can do about it now so why worry
So I am here catching up and DH is reading a book on his kindle
To quote VJsmum It all started with a sock drawer
BTW I am so pleased to hear that Vjsmum :T Well done.
Stay safe all if you have this awful weather where you are

Really glad to read all the positive posts - I kondo'd my bf yesterday (well, no, we split because his wife is ill - we were a poly group, ahe set us up etc). So, the best sort of reason and still very close, but oh it feels weird atm!
I'm also edging towards more minimalism at home, I'm tempted to do a full second round of kondo categories. This may not be feasible with my health atm, but I think I will do it anyway:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Hi all, can I join?
I kondoed my entire house last summer in preparation for major building work but areas have already built up. It is very hard to keep a grip on what is going on when you are living in two rooms with a major 'room of doom'.
I can't wait to have a finished, minimalist home
Just reading this last page has encouraged me to declutter the xmas cards and last years calendar (after writing a list) so I'm looking forward to further motivation

Morning all
Wow it's cold out there, just told the boys its white over with frost so they need to allow extra time to walk to school/work.
Going into work early today as a colleague went home early yesterday with really bad fluey cold and she was incharge of changing corridor and classroom displays over, us onetoones stayed late last night changing the backing papers and are going to do the display today if she's still off - which if she's Sensible she will be.
Going to make a start on revisiting clothes over the weekend as I feel the wardrobe still has too much I don't wear in it, I thought it was all joyful but obviously not if six months down the line I've barely worn it.
We've decided on a stay at home lazy weekend anyway just doing what we want after all the rush and business of Christmas.
Sorry to hear about your leak Mavvy, I hope it's easily fixed.
Welcome to the new kondoers in the thread.
Have a joyful day all, I'm in work all day so won't be about till later but I'll have a coffee and a catch up with you all once I'm back.SPC~12 ot 124
