He's topped the Valentine's card from 1958 with one of her school reports from 1944, she's 85 now.

Social history! What did you do with them in the end? I have some cards from Grandmother's stash of papers which I have kept - some are family history: letters to the 'Education Board' regarding my mothers place at grammar school - she didnt want to go and it took many years to sort out! A couple of driving licences belonging to my Grandad who never owned a car:rotfl: and of course a couple of ration books! I gave some other bits to a local archivist/historian who was very pleased. Things like school reports give a lot of insight into 'how is was then' Still have my school reports which were really bland ( circa 1980s ):o My DDs on the other hand are totally the other way - cut and paste and gushing - hate them!!

Waiting on another freegler today - this is now the third day they have promised. If they dont turn up I have others lined up and they will be added to my 'no chance' list. I love fr**cycle but there are some chancers - I have made a note of people who ask for anything and everything and dont offer to them and there are a couple of regulars who I have come to know who want things like cardboard and packaging (sells on line) or sheets/towels etc for pet bedding ( rescue centre/kennels) or scraps of wool/fabric ( crafter/teacher). These people I now just contact direct and offer anything I have to them first.

So today I need to go through the contents of the old filing cabinet again and with a fine tooth comb and put the new one in place................oh didnt I say I replaced it with a better one:D This one lives in our 'office at the bottom of the garden':D Weather looks as if it will hold so will do in garden rather than bring in house, with a coffee and the Archers omnibus:D

I am just beginning my Kondo journey and have a question about my clothes.

I'm a size 22 but currently losing weight, once I reach my goal next year, I will be a 14/16. I have a lot of lovely clothes that are currently too small but will eventually fit, and I'm not sure what to do with them.

Do I leave them out so I can try them on every so often? Do I put them in a box so they aren't cluttering up the closet? I think if they are all out, the closet will be too full.

Do you lovely people have any advice for me? I'm sure I am not the only one in this situation.

How about keeping just a few in cupboard as an on going incentive and then bring more out or storage as the weight drops. Maybe get rid of a few too that you think will probably not be the 'new you' when you reach your target weight. Sell your bigger size clothes on FB or Eb*y - there is a market for 20+ size stuff I found out:D

I think with he clothes I would keep the one or two items that you really like a s a motivation tool in the wardrobe and the others box away for when ready. however, this will only work if you really are determined to lose the weight. I don't mean to sound harsh but i had a box on my wardrobe for years as i thought one day i get back in the clothes and never quite made it. i would sell the decent ones to treat yourself as a reward for losing the weight.

As i kondo photos i am thinking of making a collage on one of the walls instead of a picture as i think this memory wall will spark positive vibes. wall needs painting, a vinyl quote and then i am good to go!

My min's game has fallen by the wayside for the last few days as I have been busy/out but fully intend to catch up today. I have calculated that I need to do 100 things to get back on track. This seems a lot but the mandatory 50 photos I can do whilst watching tv.

I've also got my realistic to do list done so will get going with the help of a cup of coffee!
Don’t put it down - put it away!

Igamogam he's giving them back to her which means that at some point in the future we will be seeing it again. Mr VP is planning on finding out if some of the group's etc still exist and will offer them booklets etc for their archives.

Thistle-down I have put on weight over the years and by September last year I was wearing size 18 and trying to ignore the fact that I was really a size 20. I had put all of my smaller clothes into the attic. Fast forward a year and I am back I to a size 14. As I've gone down sizes I've retrieved my clothes from the loft and tried them on asking myself in Kondo style does this bring joy. I can honestly say that 95% of them did not and were promptly donated to the CS. I no longer liked the style of some of them, my tastes have changed and I have also found that I am a different shape size 14 now than I was 6 years ago.
I have been buying what I need from the charity shops as I don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes that I know will be to big again in the not to distant future. When I reach my target weight I will ptobably continue to shop from the CS but will also treat myself to new clothes with an eye to them being I'm my wardrobe for a long time to come.

Have Kondoed the drawers in my dressing table this morning and now (insert drum roll please) have an empty drawer. I've been back and looked at it twice already to make sure it is still there.

    .

Thank you - I will go through the smaller clothes now and get rid of the ones I don't love unless they are very practical (like the brand new sets of Jockey knickers my mother gave me, two sizes too small :p) I'll keep the rest in a suitcase, ready to try on as I lose weight.

We are on a super tight budget for the next few years, with little money for me to get new (charity shop) clothes, so while I don't want to wear things I don't love, there is also an element of making do. It's unlikely my tastes will change in the next year - I still dress like the same backwater hippie that I've been since high school. :o

I completely understand about being a different shape, I'm sure that will be the case for me too. I'll have to wait until I'm slim enough to get into the clothes to see if they fit properly, and donate/sell the ones that no longer do...

Most I would put into a box (I find cardboard boxes which I cover with wallpaper that I had spare, that matches the walls :)) that way if you find space scarce, you can always put on top of wardrobe, but leave a couple of items in your wardrobe that really inspire you to get that weight off.

I have a pair of denims in my wardrobe, too small for me, even when I was skinny, and eventually managed into them, unfortunately there's more lbs been added on than years :( However I still keep them, hoping . . . .one day :) (Not very MK I know, but they do give me great joy) :D

Well done on the weight loss :j

Completely determined, in a way that I have never felt before. A health scare last month brought it home that if I don't do something right now at age 52, I may not be here to enjoy retirement, etc. I want to be an active granny!

My paranoid mind was saying "this is all your fault - it happened when they were helping you out". I'm excellent at worrying and feeling guilty in these sort of situations :o.

I am too, then someone once told me "Theres no point in worrying, it won't change the outcome" and once I thought about it, she was right. I try and tell myself this now, every time I find myself worrying.

Had a similar wake up call, I found what works for me, is that I have to do it for myself, no point in others telling me what I should be doing :D that doesn't work for me.

  • Gosh, I've replied a few times already, and I only popped over here to gain some inspiration, as I want to clear out and have a few hours to make a difference, even if only a small one.

    Better get moving.
