  • Morning all
Dh has gone to kondo a pint (or modern equivalent) at blood donor session. I'm currently turning 3 old (good but wrong size) sheets into a valance for our bed base. The curtains I turned up look great and because I double folded them they are like blackout blinds, so perfect. Kondoed the tatty old bedroom carpet yesterday and the contents of most of one of DHs underbed drawers- do that's my mins game items sorted for Bout three more days.

Ds1 had a friend stay over for a couple of days who also sings so last night we went out to watch them both. It was a really good night.

This evening its ds2s Ncs graduation event so busy most of the day.

Have a really lovely weekend all, I hope there is joy it it gif everyone.

Mavvy, the forties weekend sounds lovely, have a wonderful time.

I have been so busy cleaning and decluttering, the house is starting to look amazing .... I am lighting fragranced candles and just can't wait to get up each morning and start again lol

I am up to date with mins game - in fact I am over every day - been under the stairs this morning and have cleared all the rubbish out (1 pile for selling, 1.5 black sack, 1 bag recyling, bag of forgotten books for library, few bits that have been put away in correct places....under my stairs now looks like this .... my little store cupboard

I am just beginning my Kondo journey and have a question about my clothes.

I'm a size 22 but currently losing weight, once I reach my goal next year, I will be a 14/16. I have a lot of lovely clothes that are currently too small but will eventually fit, and I'm not sure what to do with them.

Do I leave them out so I can try them on every so often? Do I put them in a box so they aren't cluttering up the closet? I think if they are all out, the closet will be too full.

Do you lovely people have any advice for me? I'm sure I am not the only one in this situation.

Hi thistle-down - I bought those bags that you suck all the air out with, they now fit nicely at bottom of wardrobe (I have at least a wardrobe full in about 6 bags)

    That's an excellent idea! :T

  • Wow Greenbee, I admire your determination - you've only just finished the last lot of building work upstairs, haven't you? I hate having stuff done in the house but I badly need a new bathroom and I'm going to have to get on with it soon.

Thistledown, I would keep out some items in the next size down, and 'archive' the rest - vacuum bags are ideal - however I tend to agree that probably much of it will turn out not to spark joy when you reach your goal. I think we often hang on to stuff because of the happy memories of when we used to be that size and wore those clothes. I love going to my wardrobe and knowing that everything in there will fit me and is stuff I feel comfortable in.

It's made me reflect on my childhood. Growing up in the 60s I had one pair of shoes - new Clarks lace-ups in September and new t-bar sandals in March, granted my feet were still growing and I didn't have so many different things in my life to do! I had wellies, plimsolls and bedroom slippers and as far as I recall, that was it. My school didn't have a uniform, so I can't remember what else I had to wear but as I usually had one new outfit for Christmas and mum made my summer dresses, I doubt if it was more than five or six outfits. I definitely only had one coat! When did we start needing so much? I have no idea why I have twelve different cardigans - they do all get worn, but I'm sure I don't need them all.
Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.

Don't forget to keep something in your largest size to remind you how far you've come from your heaviest weight. I have a pair of jeans which at one point were too small, I couldn't get them done up with a 4 inch gap between button and hole. I hung onto them determined I was going to get back into them. I discovered low carb eating and now those jeans hang off me with about 4 spare inches. I try them on now and again just to make sure I'm not piling on the pounds again.

Part of me wants to put it off, and part of me wants to get it over with - but if I get this done, the Aga installation can go ahead, and at least a partial kitchen can go in. I will need to decide on tiles for the kitchen and utility in the next month or so as this will be the next thing to happen.

Hopefully it will make my life easier.

I finally did my tax return this morning, and have a rebate on the way, which more than covers the amount I have donated to charity this year.

I really should be packing for work as I have to leave in about an hour...
  • Hello all and lovely to catch up with all your news and inspiration since last posted.
Good news KM'd several more lbs (11 since 4th Sept); low carb eating. Week 1 discovered cauliflower rice; week 2 cauliflower mash and home-made onion bhajis :)
Bad news our boiler will need to be Kondoed:(We do now have hot water again and it feels so-o-o good but it will need replacing. We have a date 1st October so it's frugal times. Perhaps I need to try to sell rather than CS. However, most of what's left the door isn't high value stuff just tat.
So I'll quickly catch up with Mins game; I have been playing but not posting and recording it in my bullet journal.
    (read in a Georgie accent)
Day 7: Angel of courage keyring (given to me 4 years ago, courage is in me I hope), 'silk' flower sprig (no idea!), 2 A4 wallet folders recycled with contents, one of those little bags they put crystals in, small wooden peg, used felt-tip pen
Day 8: Nightlight holder (knocked off COD by DH's bottom whilst his head was in the boiler cupboard) in the bin, I have enough broken crocs for plant pots, 3 x t-shirts, out of date ghee, more ghee with essential oil used for foot massages, didn't smell very nice, poster for recording pocket money, and posters printed out by somebody else in school before my time and not used in 2 years
Day 9: red riding hood basket, magazine rack, 2 x children's books, 2 doodle pads, poly pockets (to CS), DVD player to recycling and broken watch
Day 10: 2 x baskets (reduced price still on!), 5 x scarves (see earlier post regarding busty ladies), 2 photo frames and raspberries (into the bin sadly as they'd gone all mouldy)
    Will post Day 11 later.
I have changed bed, washed sheets, planned menu and been shopping, watched Travis on red button and now need to squeeze in school work, allotement and ironing. Wish me luck

    Good afternoon

I have been to MIL's with DH and she agreed that we could tackle the garden, We kept at it until the brown bin was full. DH got into it twice to compact everything down. MIL also let us take a bag of paperwork out of one of her cupboards so that it can be sorted out. If she is only happy to release it one bag at a time so be it. We need to do it at a pace that she is comfortable with or she might not let us help at all.

After emptying one of the drawers in my bedroom this morning I have just revisited the bedside cabinet that I Kondoed yesterday and have condensed two of drawers and now have an empty drawer there as well. :D
