I've been using conkers for the past couple of years and reckon they work pretty well too. We leave them by the entrance doors.

Apart from just over a year ago (I was reminded recently by a facebook post), I was sitting in my office and the most ENORMOUS spider I've ever seen in my house fell off the light fitting, bounced off my monitor and landed on the floor. It got the full thwack from a slipper pretty pronto (sorry to those that like them). It must have been a good 3 inches across. Yuck.

It seems like the shredders all over the country are working full time. I sucessfully kondoed mine over a year ago. The pile of paper was taller than me when I started. Took over a month to get rid of it in the end. The shredder was dead and that was recycled to the tip.
That is it GQ you've hit the nail on the head as usual.
Stuff that has missed the cull time and time again is now coming forward to be ditched.
I have a bigger problem though called OH. He likes to keep things for Justin.
I have in the past used my feminine wiles, cunning and craftiness on him but have hit a bit of a brick wall.
Mainly clothes and hobbies and things left hanging around, photographic equipment, computer wires, printer etc. Ideas????
Have re-read some of the kondo bible and am going to take some china that has been in the family for years to be valued. It's very pretty Japanese patterned tea set, was my Gt Grandmothers, but has been sat in several display cabinets for almost a 100 years. As far as I know no one has ever used it. If it is valuable I may sell it or pass it on to someone else in the family.
Must get on I have a wardrobe to dismantle.

    Hi everyone:)
Have come out of lurkedom (is that a word?) I have spent too long in one place and now I'm ready to get back on Mav's train.
I've spent the last 18 months enjoying life and doing what I want to when I want to it. After totally Kondoing my life in a few months.
I'm totally addicted to this thread and catch up with you all in bed Sunday morning with a pot of coffee and toast.
BUT I noticed these was few months that little things are starting to get on my nerves, areas need revisiting, stuff that should have been thrown, recycled or moved on years ago is sitting there mocking me.
So I'm looking for some motivation from you lovely kondo devotees.so please feel free to give me a kick on the backside and get me back on board. Please nicely.
    Tealady

Tealady. All you have to do is stand on the platform and when the train stops shut your eyes and jump on board :) But make sure you are ready to leave that remote request stop if you are not wait for the next train :D

I did have some moments where I was standing on the platform but the train wasnt going to the right destination for me at that time :D

So I waited for the right train and I am now on it finally :D So just get on the same train as me ' This is the second time round train' so perfect for both of us ;)

Made a few descions I am not doing the fete next year, far to stressful, time consuming, and a few idiots into the bargain who just expect me to do everything and do s*d all themselves. So will go out on a high with the highest total taken at any fete ever :T

I havent told them yet but look forward to it :) Anyone who knows me knows I wont go back on my word so next year I will turn up 10 mins before it starts and just expect my stall to be set up and throw a fit when its not :rotfl:I have run it for 4 years now and thats it for me :D

So feeling much better to have made that descion (made harder as DH is the Chairman) :rotfl:

I am cleaning and sorting at the moment as I have been so busy things have slid and I now need to get back on top of it.

When Mrs MP,Kaz and myself met up I was looking for something in my handbag and it was such a mess I couldnt find a thing and that was a bit of a trigger point for me as I couldnt find a pen. Where as before I could have closed my eyes and laid my hands on it in 2 seconds and that is the difference between KM and the slippery slope :rotfl:
So bag sorted out all the carp kondoed and now a smaller bag in use so I have to be more organised.

    Good luck to all

..........It might sound a bit like Pollyanna but nowadays we call it Mindfulness :rotfl:....M

Thank you!!!!! Pollyanna's glad game with added jargon.

a friend was getting seriously convoluted about "mindfulness....." - I was anticipating her bursting into a rousing chorus of "The Age of Aquarius" as a finale - when it dawned on me that I had heard it before but in different words.

  • I loved reading 'Pollyanna'!

Mavvy, congratulations on your decision. It can be hard to withdraw from things like the fete - especially when you have been so successful. Sometimes we need to remember that volunteering is meant to be enjoyable, and when it starts to be stressful it's time to step down. MK in action - it's not sparking joy any more! Good for you and well done on raising so much money.

Mrs MP hope you are ok after your tumble. :( Who knew crochet could be so dangerous ;)

I have kondoed shed loads of money sadly:(But have purchased the freehold on Dads nania flat :) So its been well spent and not wasted. With all the buying and selling and moving being done on here thought I better not get left behind :) Good luck to everyone who is moving hope it all goes smoothly for you all.

Charly27 Good luck on your journey back to Norfolk but I so hope you dont live in North Norfolk as the traffic is murder as its Cromer carnival week  A 5 minute journey is taking me up to 25 mins at the moment and thats if I can get out of my road :rotfl:With the amount of cars /caravans/campers/lorries going into town so this week I will be mostly staying at home and watching the Red Arrows from home as they turn for the display on Cromer Carnival Day over my garden :);) and as we are so high here they are really low flying so its a fab display with no crowds :) just me and the dog bliss so I will get my cup of tea ready for 11am Wednesday.

Other than that need to revisit a few drawers as have decided to move a few things around will do that at some point will also do some cleaning as thats something I always need to do just not as much as before KM :)

No Mav I am in Dereham which at the mo is pretty bad due to roadworks. I have KM'd the books. Just children's to do. Surprisingly easy. Shall I take a photo? I'm shocked. I think I could even do more. I took all the books of the shelves but I didn't put them all in one room. Just went room by room. I may eventually be able to get rid of a bookcase when I do papers. Haven't said thank you yet but I don't feel bad. Some I haven't even read. Off to CS tomorrow :T:A

Glad to hear bruises are fading Mrs mp. I also unexpectedly leapt into the shed between books today. DH's fault really. Inspired by the Olympic cycling team he pulled both our bikes out to service. So to fit them back in I started to chuck some stuff out: a long piece of orange nylon string, a plastic bucket, an old curtain and a tea towel, a set of plastic storage bins found on my allotment in 2011 that I was going to clean and put up in garden shed for bits and pieces! For goodness sake! What Mrs mp said makes sense so I am not going to worry about taking from May until June got Kondo clothes and books! It's a journey different for each of us. What category would sheds be anyway?

I put the things for the recycling centre in the boot of my car, planning to go there as part of a longer trip with more stops. When one of the stops did not go according to plan, I plain forgot to stop at the recycling centre!

Polly Well said :T and how I feel about it yes KM is back in my life (dont think she really ever went away)
Another 2.5lbs kondoed and to be honest I am pleased with that so just about 7 lbs to go now.As I didnt let it get to out of hand ;)
Charly27 Why do they always do the roadworks at the busiest time of year ? They do that here as well must be Norfolk for you I suppose :rotfl:
Red Arrows were fantastic as ever watching from my garden so cant see all of the display just the higher stuff and when they break away and fly over here and rejoin the pack. But I have seen them so many times since I have lived in Norfolk anyway.

Been cleaning today all day :( Everything moved and scrubbed so feeling tired but back on track :D Cats and kits all fine and still eating me out of house and home bless 'em.

Stay on the train everyone but try and take just a bit of time out for you :) go on we deserve it ;)
