KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Morning all
Hope everyone is well
Spent a happy few minutes gazing out of the front window at the skip, lol it is filling nicely, while looking for the parcel I took out about 6 bags worth of recyclable cardboard, to make a bit more space. it's got our old swing/garden bench, a battered surf board, the mower, a load of tatty garden Christmas signs, an old duvet that was looking decidedly wore for wear and various shed rammel in it for yesterday's kondo exploits.
Friend of ds1 who's dad likes viz comics was given the stack that were found in our attic, and while away on holiday the little bookshop in sheringham bought a bag full of books off me.
Today's plan is bring some more rubble, broken slabs and the leaky waterbutt from mils to feed the skip a and I may try and kondo some excess from the filing cabinet, so that one drawer can be used to house the stuff from the files piled on top of it and the other cards and stationery.
Have a joyful day allSPC~12 ot 124

Everyone's doing so well. I've done nothing except to deliver some gifts I'd purchased on behalf of DD, they are now in her house taking up her space instead of mine. Only little things, but, as they say, every little helps.
Mrs MP, hope your bruises fade soon.
Clutterfree, good luck with the move.
GQ, I used to have a friend who was overwhelmed with stuff, but the problem was that although I made valiant efforts with the backlog, he didn't get a routine going for the incomings, so old and dusty heaps were just replaced by newer and cleaner-looking heaps, so I realised not much was going to change in the long term. His stuff was meant to have an economic purpose too, but its potential was limited as much of the good stuff was just literally lost in the chaos.
Anyway, who am I to talk? I have a heap in the hall to sort out. Ooops.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
Hi everyone:)
Have come out of lurkedom (is that a word?) I have spent too long in one place and now I'm ready to get back on Mav's train.
I've spent the last 18 months enjoying life and doing what I want to when I want to it. After totally Kondoing my life in a few months.
I'm totally addicted to this thread and catch up with you all in bed Sunday morning with a pot of coffee and toast.
BUT I noticed these was few months that little things are starting to get on my nerves, areas need revisiting, stuff that should have been thrown, recycled or moved on years ago is sitting there mocking me.
So I'm looking for some motivation from you lovely kondo devotees.so please feel free to give me a kick on the backside and get me back on board. Please nicely.

Well done on doing a good first sweep of the kondo journey, tea lady. I think we will all have to revisit certain stops on the train again. I know I will I haven't to be honest got much further than paper, I dabbled with other areas after a good kondo of clothes and papers but the papers seem to keep pulling me back so they obviously aren't finished with me yet. (And the amount I'm still finding seem to confirm that).
I would say go for the things that are calling to you as they arrive and see how that works for now. Or you could reread the book for motivation and revisit each category.SPC~12 ot 124

Gyn. appointment made for 2 September!!
My Sister-in-Law is currently looking after my dds for the last fortnight of the summer break, in our house. She just cannot sit still! She has already finished the ironing pile (usually dh's job), and given the kitchen a scrub. She claims that the moment she feels bored, she will leave us, so we are looking for etiquette-acceptable cleaning jobs to keep her occupied for 10 more days! To make matters more interesting, a dh's and sil's mutual friend is staying with us for two days. She also cannot sit still, and used to run a successful restaurant all by herself. I think that between them, they will sort our house out :rotfl:
I am actually getting excited by the possibility of finishing off painting the hallway! I painted it two years ago, and then the door broke and we had to install a completely new one, with a new frame. The door and frame never got painted, and the wall paint has a gap. Will it happen this week???? Ooooh, I can barely contain myself! Car serviced, air con re-gassed. Lòokeď in major department stores, Nothing took my fancy
Partly because I am between sizes atm, but also just horrible colours, shapes and designs
Purchased something for tea and a shampoo I needed, nothing else, apart from a coffee.
Note - no cake with said coffee :A
I enjoyed 20 minutes in coffee shop writing my to do list and meal planning for next couple of days, it did feel like a little break!
On the way home I kondo'd a box of biscuits and some HM jam to a dear friend who is caring for her terminally ill husband. The gifts were a little excuse to visit them and see what practical help I could give. It certainly makes me appreciate what I have and when I feel a tiny bit sorry for
myself, which is not often, I quickly put it into perspective. It might sound a bit like Pollyanna but nowadays we call it Mindfulness :rotfl:
Righ , off to read a chapter or 2 in the glorious sunshine! THAT'S how lucky I am !!!

I managed to visit the loft this morning to return two cases from our trip away last weekend. Whilst up there I located and counted some spare bathroom tiles which I'm trying to get somebody to remove some patterned ones from in the bathroom, and replace with these. Although we only tiled about 9 years ago, they do look dated already. The replacements are just plain grey and I think will look OK when we try to sell. We've decided we're going to move at some point, not sure when yet.
OMG the stuff we've got in the loft...... I did a bit of KMing up there earlier in the year but it's barely scratched the surface. There's quite a lot of my business paperwork up there I need to keep for 6 years but I need to find the older stuff and get rid. I was going to get rid of a load of duvets we don't use, but there's a house we're interested in that is probably quite a bit colder at night than our current home, so they may come back into play. Seems silly to get rid so we don't have to move them, only to have to buy replacements.
Annoyingly I visited the bank earlier but forgot the pile of stuff for the CS.Make £2025 in 2025

Hi everyone:)

TealadyI find that in my own life, I can tick along just keeping up with the daily drag-in and everything under my eye looks OK.
Then, all of a sudden, something isn't OK, it comes out of the woodwork holding up metaphorical hands and saying OK, guv, you've got me bang to rights, I'll just get me coat, awright? and off it goes. Funny how many different things have surrendered.
I've also decided when something does wear out, I won't automatically source its replacement without living without it for a while, to see if it's really something I need, rahter than something which I have because I have, IYSWIM.
We have two neighbours on the move atm and their activities in respect of filling up our communal bins (refuse and recycling) are causing chaos for the rest of us. Bearing in mind the extreme titichiness of these flats, my mind is boggling at the sheer quantities of Stuff which is coming out of them. And which has been coming out of one of them for weeks.I suspect I may not be the only person who has a certain fascination with how other people live, particularly when their home is a cookie-cutter version of my own. It isn't noble but it's genuine.
My pal with the [STRIKE]junk shop[/STRIKE] err antiques emporium, is a terror for having Stuff (stock) lurking around in nooks and crannies which he bought and hasn't yet got out in the cabinets or the windows. Yet he won't part with it. So, I pester him to let me display it and some things he thought no one'd want have sold, which is pleasing. I have hopes of the Things, of which there will be circa 50, and which we'll have to drip-feed into the local economy one at a time, or there will be a Thing-glut and we'll crash the market.:rotfl:
I love possicking around in the back rooms and cellar of his shop, there's stuff there which hasn't been disturbed since Noah was a lad, cobwebs in great skeins, dust you can autograph. It's proper hardcore.:DEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
