The problem with the sheets is that I wash them together, so have to work out before I put them away. So getting round to marking them seems sensible. I did notice that although the double fitted sheet and the small singles don't have sizes on the labels, the metric single does. All from the same place (JL).

One day i'll be organised ;)

School holidays mean I'm back to sorting. We have sorted the shoes, everyone in the family has donated to the charity bag, which has now left the house.
We are in the process of sorting clothes, I've gone through mine but feel I need to redo them. DS1 and 2 have done theirs DS 3 will need my help. We have a very large black bag full of donations and likely more to go.
DH took a bookcase and a coffee table to the BHF furniture store. I've also sorted out a plastic storage tower. I've got rid of lots of cleaning cloths - old clothes used as cleaning rags. Dried up shoe polish and spare studs and tighteners for football/rugby/cricket boots long gone.

Lots and lots still to do but it's a start.

:o The bowl is in a carrier bag in the bottom of a big communal skip bin, so I will have to file that note about the rubble section for future reference.

Knit Witch, sorry to hear you've been so poorly and please be gentle with yourself as you ease back into regular life. Hope you're soon feeling much better.

:j mrs-moneypenny, wow, what can I say but respect! If that's just a small amount of your decluttering, I'm in awe of what you've achieved. No wonder your recycling has been the talk of the town.

I've been lounging around since work and have finished one of the 20p books I bought a few days ago and will start on another book shortly. I have decided I must limit my library book habit until I have got out from under Mount Readmore, so have restricted myself to one fiction and one non-fiction. Will check the book just finished to see if it's valuable secondhand, in which case online bookseller brother will have first dibs. If they only sell for a couple of squid, it'll go into the donation bag.

I'm working on my WIP (rug) and this will cause a big bag of raw materials currently on the sitting room floor to disappear.

I've just been poking around on various websites looking for an article I read in the past few days but I can't find it or even remember exactly where I saw it.

Sooo, the observation which really resonated with me, albeit not verbatim; of all the things you ever bought or were given, how many of them have really proved to live up to their promises?

Have any of these things really changed your life? Did that new outfit turn you into a total fox? Did that new hair colour transform your identity? Does the new car go any faster in a traffic jam than your old car? Has the makeover of house or garden been more than a modest passing pleasure? Did the fancy skin cream refresh your skin any more than a restful weekend at home would have done?
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Car - bought new - 6 years trouble-free so far, which is why I bought it...

Hair colours/cosmetics/handbags/shoes - uninterested in those anyway, and as for clothes they have to be both comfortable and look nice, so no prizes for fashion here, just classic well-styled comfort. I must be an advertiser's nightmare as I find their spurious claims so easy to resist.

What worries me most is gift items - someone buys me expensive costume jewellery and/or unsuitable clothing regularly. I can return/exchange clothing but the jewellery is a problem as it seems to mean so much more to them, not me, and often comes with an explanation of why it was selected. It's so very kind and generous but I am at a loss as to what to do with it - I can only wear real gold or silver as I get a localised rash otherwise, so sadly these other items are languishing in storage...

Serendipitous maybe you should tell whoever buys you the costume jewellery that you can't wear it due to allergy, and would they wish to have it returned for them to wear? Might solve the problem for future gifts.

:dance:We are in the uk on Vacation and visited Lakes!de, where I noticed the bhs sale..... We spent two hours in there, and bought quite a few items: 2 pairs of trousers and three shirts for dh, a bridesmaid dress for each dd (to be worn at my father's 75th end of August. At gbp 15 it seemed rude not to...), and 2 dresses, 4 pairs of shoes, a bra, a bodysuit, and a skirt for me
In my defence, the English sizes fit me better then Belgian ones, and I really needed new dresses and shoes; everything I own is getting rather tired.
