It's great isn't it Igamogam! I almost feel like skipping across our lounge. It isn't very big, but it looks so much more spacious without stuff all over it.0

Thought I'd feel sad at the Christmas tree coming down, but I can't stop grinning at the space left behind.
Some successes over the last week
OH finished reading a book on a train journey last week, got off the train, walked into the first charity shop and donated it :T
We had a clothing collection bag through (I know, but I wanted stuff gone), I told him to find just three things to put in it. He came down with about 10 - including some shirts I'd nagged him about
In said bags also went some things I had been procrastinating over - it really does get easier as you go along
Christmas hasn't had a massive impact on the house - apart from a large guitar, but it is a thing of beauty (and so it bl00dy well should be for what it cost )
We bought a joy giving TV stand - who knew there was such a thing? But the old one was awful and we just realised that we didn't have to put up with it. Old one has gone to the recycling shop at the tip along with a selection of other tat. A sort of mini mins game - these include, but are not limited to, an apple corer, a Barbie tray, nut crackers, two chopping boards, Christmas tree decs, a cheese knife, two DVDs, a couple of books, a daylight alarm clock, a broken lamp and a broken DVD player (it's been broken for over a year). The Winnie the Pooh teeny tiny cup survived cos OH rescued it and used it, even though it is "too small to be of any use".
Now, I really must Kondo some work,,,I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Welcome procrastinator I hope once you start on your journey life becomes easier for you.
I do a mix of kondo, flylady and trying to use up what I have rather than buying more.
Christmas is back in the attic apart from what was thrown away and what is going to the CS, there is still lots do when I decorate for the next Christmas I'll donate what we don't use to the CS but at least by doing it in the run up to Christmas they won't have to store all of it all year.
Watching a DVD and doing some more crochet now, have a good evening all.SPC~12 ot 124

I lack time during the week and we went back to normal routines today, but as I was waiting for dinner I realised the notebooks I wanted to tackle were all in a pile looking at me so I went through those and there was a big pile for the recycling bin and some new ones for the charity box that needs to leave the house.
It's funny how as something is dealt with the next thing I want to tackle somehow pops into my head so I'm going with it at the mo. It's jewellery making supplies for me next.0 -

Procrastinator, I was always the sort of person who would start 'clearing up' and find I'd made a bigger mess than before I started. And it's true there is a stage in KM where you'll have stuff that needs a permanent home but hasn't found it yet, BUT this method really does work for me where others have failed. Start with some areas where you already know you have storage, like clothes, and you'll feel the urge to carry on.
I came across this article today - it's not all about the socks! :rotfl:Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

She sounds a right delight. :rotfl:0 -
Different I suppose!!!!! (Ref article)
Procrastinator why don't you begin with the simplest of items such as knickers? Used everyday, easy to wash, dry and put away? Don't look at the big picture do it step by step. Honest it will work! X0 -
Hi procrastinator and hi to all newbies and returners to the thread.
I too have been in the thread from beginning. What got me to get A into G was first been beguiled by this funny little book. It had me hooked from the start. Like you newly retired and with more time on my hands. However not the energy to start hauling my cubbys and drawers out to do this. Like many have said start with a drawer usually the knicker drawer I did this and still get a kick from opening it and admiring the neatness of it.
You do have to fold your laundry before it goes away or you end up back to square one and just stuff them back in.
My biggest jobs were paperwork and kitchen clutter. I have a tiny kitchen so I got every thing out and put it in the dining room as a sort of triage. It meant I knew where to find stuff it was in the dining room some where. Plus I could just shut the door on the hot mess in the dining room until I got it sorted. The joy when I reduced the stuff from the kitchen was amazing the empty counter (I only have one) and stuff not pouring out of cubhoards or jammed drawers. I have to take loads of lethargy breaks but I just took my time and boy it is worth it. Paperwork I thought I would never get through but again if you have an area you can leave catergories for triage it helps at least you know where it is. I really was spurred on by my change in circumstances being retired I didn't want to be burdened with stuff or my family having to hire a skip after my demise in the future. Cos that's where it ends up. Or as some others on here have found stored and stuffed in their homes. As it is to painful to dump at such an emotional time. It's not what you want for them is it? I was able to travel and visit friends and family last summer all because of MK. I felt light and my energy was greatly increased. No big piles of laundry to manage due to a capsule almost uniform wardrobe. Sorry for the long post I'm having another insomnia night but just trying to help. Please keep coming on here there are lots of lovely people to inspire. It helps me even tho I'm done pretty much but really it's an ongoing thing you still have to be vigilant in stopping the stuff coming in. It can't come in unless you invite it.
Here's a new day starting it's 5:12am lets all have a great day and with less stuff to tie us down we can do more of what we really want to do. Tarra for now byee:D”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Omg I wrote my previous post before reading pollywollydoodles article link
That's what I want to do not give a..... I can't be rude to anyone and would avoid hurting feelings but being honest is sometimes the best policy. I have a friend who's family own a restaurant I often get invited for lunch by her. It is very kind of course but means I have to get dressed up to the nines which I now hate and to be frank I don't like the food much. I'm often left sitting with people I don't like much (ex colleages)So I go along or have a bunch of excuses not to go. Wadda you do
Maybe turn up in pygamas?”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”
