KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

It's funny how as something is dealt with the next thing I want to tackle somehow pops into my head so I'm going with it at the mo.
YESYESYES!! :jYou've got it! Don't let anyone suggest a different order, or even comment on the order you are doing things, this throws me off-speed every single time.
My own kondoing: my dds have several wooden puzzles, and the parts are usually all over the living room. They don't play with them very often. So, I took pictures of all the puzzles, sent them to the Head of the Kindergarten my youngest daughter attends, and she confirmed she was happy to have them! I've clingfilm wrapped them, they are in the boot of my car, and will be dropped off this afternoon. Hurray!!Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
Thanks PWD for posting that link. Some resonances there for me. DH and I sat down a few years ago and made a list of the things that bugged us about our working lives. We resolved to reduce number and length of commute, DH to leave his job to set up as s/empld, and a few financial plans to reduce expenditure and have a mad saving campaign to boost rainy day money, etc. The whole point of saving up was to effectively buy us more free time a few years hence.
The result is that he did leave his horrid job that was totally stressing him out, I reduced my hours and thus we both reduced out commutes. Funnily enough he has achieved more freedom so far because I was the one who stuck it out as an employee to support his start-up :undecided. It did make sense and I have not regretted it. As my sig indicates, it's my turn soon
On a more relevant Kondo note - while the holiday packing was a breeze thanks to MK, I realise that I WILL BE REVISITING clothes when I get back!! :rotfl:
Have a good day everyone.
M
PS - also enjoying the space and quiet now the decs are put away. Funny how last year I thought the place looked bare when they were taken down, now I am loving it. It is Woo! :jI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Love this
Especially the
1 decide what not to give a F**k. About
2 don't give a f**k about it.
Strangely, I instantly thought of Mavvy when I read it :rotfl:
It's not about being selfish, there's many things I don't want to do but give a F about (entertaining the MiL, cleaning the bathroom) but care enough to know that I feel bad if I don't.
1, 3, 7, 9 and 10 resonate - so halfway there :T
Funny VJsMum.You have hit the nail on the head there. That really is me :rotfl:That is one of my favorite sayings even if its in my head and not out loud (but sometimes it is)Many things I dont give a f**k about and I have also said the same about the pub quizes.I hate them and when I was asked to go to one.I just said NO when I was asked why I just said I dont like them one little bit.:rotfl:
Also another thing is I dont turn up for stupid events like a friends 'Bod*n parties  If I want to buy anything from that overpriced shop I will on my own not at a party  and no one even questions it now they just say 'well thats Mav for you:D' haha.
If I am being selfish I dont care and so bl**dy be it
I sound like a really horrible person but I am really not.I have never suffered fools and the older I get and the more down KM I get the less I suffer them :rotfl:
Anyway off to do something that brings ME joy now.and I dont care x

I haven't read her book but I have been lurking on this thread for half a year or so! I stopped counting but have removed several car loads of un-spark filled items during that time. I'd guess about four car loads all from a one bedroom flat!
Most recently I tackled the under stairs cupboard as my dad had given me my childhood dolls house and I wanted to store it there in a way which filled me with cheer when I opened the door and not with dismay to see it suffocated by junk.
This resulted in a car load removed including larger items of a stool and table from elsewhere and three bin bags of fabric which had gone musty in the cupboard and under the bed (I had held onto it for two years but never used it, holding onto it was causing me guilt stress).
The remaining craft items I have hoarded have ended up in a box with a time frame for me to get crafty. I have a large bag of more expensive items with a time frame of this month to sell before they go to charity. I also have a bag of clothes I love which need to be fixed and then stored in the wardrobe.
Each time I do an area I feel so much lighter! my only remaining space to clear is a corner of shoes in my wardrobe and the end of garden shed, which will be done when I get a skip to remove the garden rubble.
I still feel like I have some areas to improve. My task now is to wear each item in my wardrobe out, to stop me re wearing the same things and help me let go of items which don't ultimately spark joy.
After that I'm at a loss... I still feel like I could let go of a vast amount in my house without missing it at all, but then it would be very bare. Has anyone else reached this point?0 -

I don't get these. If you want to see your friends invite them over or invite them out, or go and see them. Why does a social event involve trying to flog people you like overpriced tat?
Maybe they don't have anything to talk about?:cool:0 -
Well I read PWD's link and thought I like that woman. Immediately decided not to apply for the voluntary role which I had downloaded application form for. It would have been interesting but I already have sufficient voluntary things in my life and I had promised myself that I wouLd not do anything else that did not pay. Very pleased to have MKd the stress of filling in that form by Friday. Just Kondoed small people home and sitting with quiet cup of tea. I have changed our bed (not before time) and ordered a new vacuum. I had a cylinder which DS borrowed when his died at the weekend. It did not bring me joy and I wanted a light upright as we have very few carpets and no stairs. Asked DS if they would like to keep ours and new one now on the way. Bag of clothing went with kerbside collection today and today's plastic bag through the door is one that takes bric a brac so everything else can go out Thursday which saves a trip to CS.2025 Decluttering Campaign 733/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

What sort of vacuum GrannyKate? I've got a gtech airram and I love it. No cord. Makes cleaning up after where the cat's kicked litter over the floor so much easier. I think I'd have gone nuts by now with the old Dyson, keep dragging that heavy thing out of the cupboard and unwinding the cord.
