I'm on paperwork today, which might be going better if I didn't have 5 kids to entertain. Recycling bag half full though so I'll carry on later.

    Hi Everyone!

This weekend I plan on Kondoing my back hallway...which is a dumping ground for shoes/bags/gumph (technical term!! ;)) & general stuff.

I then intend on painting that area and if possible shelving it.
I'd love to knock the wall down and expand the kitchen but the house isn't worth the investment, so looking to brighten it up and maybe make it more of a utility room.

Not sure if you can post images but I will try and do a before & after once I get going!

Ever so slightly off topic but think I might give this
Young woman's basic spending tracker a go.
See if it helps me not to have more month left than money!
It seems to work for her.

Edit: I don't have a credit card but I draw out my grocery money
To use over a week at a time. So will still track this way with cash
I'm sure it would work with a bank debit card though

Ive put all my current year paperwork into ring binders.
One for each person and one for the household bills
Etc. You archive the previous years to keep for 6yrs.
    Using this lady's method.

This system has worked for me this year a treat. Much better than folders.
I told a story in the old thread of a family I know who threw everything into plastic bags. When they needed to find stuff passports birth certificates etc. The bags were tipped onto the middle of the floor and it was like a treasure hunt to find the documents needed. The cats loved it and sat on the middle of the pile of papers!
I was never that bad but close(blush). Now I can lay my hand on any thing especially the current year stuff.

I now will empty the current year binders. Then start fresh for this year. I could wait until the financial year end but I think I prefer to do this in January. We will see I might change that.
    Hope it helps
    Have a great day everyone.
    Whatever you are doing.

Well my eldest and I kondo'd yesterday with the best of intentions, clearing through her clothes... and handing them straight to youngest. I will go through youngests in the coming weeks as I am sure there will be items she's outgrown.

I did clear out my under sink cupboard but it seems that I didn't have to get rid of any of my cleaning kit (joy!) and all it needed was organising.

Tree and all inside deccys are down but in piles all over, during his lunch time Dh helped get the boxes down and it's been noted that we only used about a third of the deccys so I will be going through and sorting some out for donation to the CS.
Mil told me I could have the tree back I'd given her but I said I'll put it up in the top of her wardrobe as she has more space than we do.

  • Very strange happenings here:
I keep opening cupboards in the kitchen and dining room and smiling to myself! I've been through the various cupboards and got rid of unwanted, unused and unloved things with the result that the cupboards now contain much less than they used to do and there is plenty of room to see everything:j

Even more astounding: DB has been beavering away in the back room (which doubles as his study/glory-hole) and keeps emerging with piles of paper which go straight into the recycling bin. Here's hoping we can keep the momentum going after I start back at work tomorrow.

Have a good afternoon and evening everyone.

I spent most of 2015 smiling at my sock drawer. It was one of the first things I tackled and it kept me sane for the year. Actually I dont wear socks from 1st April to 30th September ( went a bit longer this time due to warm weather !) So it was relatively easy to keep organised but it made me realise what order could be brought to the rest of my life ;)

Right deccys have been kondoed, one box for the CS plus two big star deccys, loads of packaging kondoed into recycling and everything in a neat pile in the spare room door way ready for Dh to help me put it back up tonight. The Christmas door mats need washing but they can go up once they are done. I can't say the lunge looks better for it as it looks like we've been visited by the dinosaur that pooped Christmas and he's left a mess of tinsel and tree shredding a and polystyrene packing so beads all over down stairs. I need to sweep through and make a start on the tea.

  • Hello
I stopped posting nearly 2 years ago but kept reading. Have decided to de lurk and get on with life. I have followed this thread since the beginning and have spoken of it to many friends but despite getting the book from the library have not fully embraced the method. I'm so afraid of pulling everything out and never getting it back again. I'm a messy person at the best of times and my natural inclination is to ignore my surroundings but from the comments on here I can see that I need to get a grip. I've been made redundant and am not actively seeking employment at the moment. Kids grown, mortgage paid and no debt. I hate house work with a vengeance, always have. But need to grow up and face it. I did a couple of drawers last year and managed to keep them fairly well, one cod is unusable as warped currently full of tut. Have started to use some of the drawer space in dds room as she has moved out. Feeling very low and hoping if I face my demons my state of mind will improve. Have also signed on to the fly lady thread as a way to motivate myself. Not sure where I'll start. Maybe back to the drawers.
