We had a dinner party for 12 on NYE. OH was concerned that not all the cutlery matched and that we would have to wash it up between courses. He couldn't understand why I didn't care :p Hell we had a set of cutlery for each of 12 people, they should count themselves lucky. As it was he couldn't get another set but did go to the caravan and get some out of there.

No one cared that it didn't match and neither did the plates chairs or anything else.

12 people had a good time and were well fed - I DO GAF about that :rotfl:

Hi on the g tech note can I ask does it take long to charge,or do you need to leave it charging when not in use ?

Does anyone else have people at work or family members who come up to you and say ooh I was thinking of you or you'd be proud of me yesterday As I threw a load of papers/clothes out ! :rotfl:

Only kondoed some weeds from front garden today, think the mild weather seems to be making them spread like wildfire!

Grey Queen I thought I was the only one who by passed bowls for the 1 I like best! What is it these days with manufacturer s of dinner sets that they have to have huge bowls ! No wonder there are so many obese people. I reckon some of mine could hold a full packet of cereal !:rotfl:

:o I have a bit of a thing about bowls. Not in the sense of having a lot of them (I have three now, and some prep bowls and pyrex basins), but I have decided opinions about them. And I don't see many around which match my mental picture of the Perfect Bowl.

The Perfect Bowl is definately a bowl. It is curvaceous on the sides, not flaring or dish-like. It is just big enough to be held in my two cupped hands (I have large hands). It is sturdy but not clumpy and thick - it has grace. And it is pure white.

If I encounter the Perfect Bowl again, it can come home with me. I will know it when I see it. In the meantime, I am being Zen about my favourite bowl, the one from 2001. It came from Crete where I was on holiday and I could only afford one of them. It is used daily, sometimes several times daily. It has escaped a smashing time on more occasions than I care to remember.

I think it's Zen to tell yourself that something is already broken, so you don't suffer the feeling of loss when it eventually does break. The favourite bowl will be thanked and discarded when it eventually suffers a terminal encounter with my concrete floors - anything which lands in my kitchen doesn't so much break as explode.

Is the gtech any good with lifting pet hair. I've finally got a Hoover that actually lifts the hair but it is a bit heavy, well that's my excuse when I get my son to hoover the stairs :rotfl:

We have a cat and it lifts her fur fine. When we first started using it it's amazing how much carp was being lifted off the carpets the Dyson was leaving behind. It filled up really quickly and then started dumping lumps on the carpet (which you can easily vacuum when you've emptied the bins). It's at this point you realise it's full! After a few weeks you find you're lifting much less carp and it takes longer for the bins to fill up.

Edit: You'd need the handheld one as well for doing the stairs. We've got one but TBH I don't use it as much as I should, I still loathe vacuuming the stairs!

TBH I don't know! It runs for about 45 mins between charges (or so I think the advert says and I've never measured it), you can see when it's running down as there are a series of light bars on the front which go out. We plug in for a few hours or overnight and away we go again. I wouldn't always leave it plugged in as that's not good for batteries generally, plus it's a fire risk.

(On a side note, was talking to somebody today whose relative had a house fire while they were out with a dodgy dishwasher )

The new vacuum is a Vax - not cordless - at the moment we have a fortnightly cleaner and they bring their own with them so I do not need to use very often.

Vacuum discussion - mine is a H*nry. Had it since 1986 I think. No built in obsolescence there!!!........and it does a pretty good job too with the cat fur :) Have replaced hose and head a few times over the years ;)

Kondo'd my christmas decorations yesterday whilst taking the tree down, have reorganised the storage area so I can fit everything in the one place. Really happy with my organisation, just need to make sure it stays this way every year when we put it away.
Have got a bag of unused baubles etc to donate, and when hubby's finished checking all the lights, I'll have a few of those to donate too, as the MIL gave me loads which I don't use.
Managed to recycle loads of old study books and old magazine pull outs that I found in a box which I'd forgotten about.
Have got a couple of boxes to still sort that I found down with the decorations. Most of it will probably be taken to the charity shop along with the stuff that is in my boot waiting to go.

Started to Kondo my knicker drawer but don't have enough containers (I've used the plastic ones that grapes come in) but do have another bunch of grapes to kondo too! Put the outside Christmas lights and the timer plug in one of the empty plastic crates and put the old cardboard box in the recycling. Found another picture in the loft to go to the CS. I also found the box that my computer before this one came in - also in the recycling! Two small tables gone to DS1 - so that's both of us pleased! I also have a standard lamp of my Mum's (!!!!!!!) that he's having a think about and some cotton lawn tops of Auntie's gone to a friend!
Very satisfactory day apart from the Freecycle who didn't turn up so I'll contact the next person. Totally with you GQ - getting stuff gone properly and responsibly is B difficult at times!
