Now come on GreyQueen, now it's gone, can't you tell us what the Wierd Item was?
:p No. It was very Weird (still is, I expect) and was on a county-wide freegle website, so a RL identifier.

But I am glad that it's gone to someone who can use it.

My take on it is 'this is their job. They have seen it all before. I am not the first and I wont be the last.........and it might just mean I am on this earth for a great deal longer' :D

Am I the only one who read about the chance to win a tidying session with MK and instantly thought 'Nooo! I couldn't let her see my house in this state!' :rotfl:

I would be the same........but because I dont think I would like her very much. I have to dispose of stuff responsibly ( yes GQ it can be difficult - wise words again :)) but I feel a responsibility to do so and so I have to give it some thought. 'Does it spark joy? No. Now how can I make sure this reused/rehoused/recycled' I do give it a lot of thought which maybe slows things down. However I feel this is how I have to do it and this is what sparks joy:D The more kondoing I do - which really should be the more recycling I do in whatever form- the less consuming of 'things and stuff' we do as a family. More joy :)

Thanks all... appointment was fine. Had an ultrasound as my last mammogram was only 9 months ago, and they prefer not to do them more than once every 12 months unless necessary. Ultrasound is normal, so back in 2 months to check and will only be squished if the lump is still there.

I have an area on one side that is prone to hormonal lumpiness, but as the consultant says, that doesn't mean that cancer won't develop there and he'd rather see me and check than not see me and then find the problem too late. I felt a bit of a fraud and a timewaster, but he assured me that he'd rather be safe than sorry. Like GQ (and probably many of the rest of you) I have family history of breast cancer, and the preventative treatment I have for another cancer risk (which is working) increases my BC risk, so they are being proactive.

I'm home now, have eaten, realised it's 4C outside and I've committed to go for a run in half an hour! I probably should have eaten less. ANd I need to find my WARM running stuff!

    Hi all,

Kond'd some 'odd' wine glasses today, had far too many.

Going to re-jig my baking drawer - it was one of first things I did, and there are a number of bits that need resorting to make it more user friendly - I took a before and after photo at the time

  • Good evening everyone,

Gosh I'm struggling to keep up with all the posts now I'm back at work, but I just wanted to share a couple of good happenings on the responsible disposal (thanks GQ) front.

I mentioned that DB has been going through his paper-work: in amongst the papers he found some newsletters from when a rather obscure charity was founded in the 1980s. At that time he was member no. 61 but now there are over 10,000 members and it has become quite mainstream. He was going to recycle the newsletters, but just on the off chance he emailed the charity to see if they'd like all the early newsletters. They emailed him straight back and almost bit his hand off as apparently they didn't have copies of any of the early issues!

I've also been in contact with a china shop and they've offered us a very good price for DB's parents' wedding china. We never use it (in fact we still use his granny's wedding china), so it can go somewhere where it will be appreciated and we'll donate the money to charity.

Still plenty to do, but slowly it is making a difference :)

    Have a good evening everyone.
  • Hello,

I'm new the this forum as I've only just come across it in the last few days. I haven't read the Marie Kondo book but was keen to start after having read the first few posts of this 2016 forum and then reading lots of posts from lovely sounding people. I plan to read the book to appreciate the method and get the full benefit.

However, in the meantime I tackled the tops in my wardrobe tonight. I've taken them all out and looked at each one in turn to feel the love before deciding which to keep, put in a bag for the charity shop or bag for textile recycling.

I'm feeling very invigorated as over 30 tops added to bags to leave the house! They will go tomorrow...

I've also turned the hangers round to the 'wrong way' in my wardrobe...and will replace the 'right way' for any tops after washing. This will also help me identify other tops that I don't actually wear after 6-12 months (undecided on the best time to review). Has anyone else tried this (and if so how long did you leave it)?

Looking forward to getting inspiration from other people's posts...
  • currently 3 pages behind in catching up with the thread! Doesn't take long to fall behind lol

Since the spring, I have got rid of c.20 bags to the chazzars, and prob about 10 bags to other ppl (youngsters setting up a kitchen etc, food bank). At times I still feel overwhelmed by stuff, but tidying has def moved from an hour or two to get a room really tidy and clean, to about 20 mins max. This helps me hugely, and means the friend I pay to clean once a fortnight can crack on with the bits I can't manage atm :D I get a cleaner place, and she gets a bit of money to spend however she likes :)

:T Oh wow, 7ww, about the newsletters and the wedding china. That's really good to hear. I bet the organisation will be thrilled to fill in the gaps in their early archive.

Woke up today buzzing with a 'to do' list for after work, which will involve some erranding and, if I can get down there, a chazzer drop-off. That would be the 4th since 1.30 pm last Sunday. At this rate they'll be giving me frequent flyer miles.:rotfl:

It's so lovely reading about how others are being rejuvinated by the kondo process. I do know that I am getting a lot more pleasure from divesting myself of Stuff than I ever did acquiring most of it.
