Slinky well done on the decision on attending your breast scan
It's there to save lives. I urge every lady that goes for one to give their local breast screening clinic a donation. I do cos I need to go every year not the usual 3 years. The nurses at the clinics usually have a donation scheme it helps to pay for equipment. All our machines were bought through donations. It stays at your own clinic and they are very grateful for anything you can afford. My clinic is saving up for a scanner to be used for younger women. The normal screening doesn't always work on women under 50 as the mass isn't clear to see.
Do it instead of sending Xmas cards at work. That's what I did.

Pollyw I am the same I couldn't have her looking through my stuff and I'm already Kondoed. it's like those poor people on hoarder programmes I just couldn't do it. Plus I worry about the children on these shows getting bullied at school.

Slinky please attend the scans you are most likely in the negative group and it is better to know sooner rather than later if you are not.
I've had two mammograms the first because I found a lump. (Harmless cyst) the second was my invited one because I've reached that certain age. Yes they are undignified and a little uncomfortable but they are very Reassuring when you get the all clear result.
My mum is over the age of getting called and makes sure she stays on the list for breast and bowel screening by requesting them, I do admire her for going out of her way to keep checking.

Currently kondoing the last of 10 lovely balls of soya yarn into a crocheted blanket. I haven't as yet got a recipient in mind but it will go into the gift stash rather than be in the unused wool stash. And it was on those big chunky cradboard holders so they are going into the school craft box tomorrow when all 10 are empty.

Polly that was my thought exactly, I enter comps but never ever those where you can have a chef make a meal in your kitchen type ones. I would just die of embarrassment.

    Have a joyful day all

I started reading the book last year. I made a start on my clothes straight away and got rid of loads...then realised I'd not accounted for some of my clothes and the drawers filled up again. Life got in the way and yesterday I finally finished reading the book.
So now I'm empowered to start again but life is getting in the way at the moment and I need to focus on other things for a few weeks.
I'm going to try and organise myself ready for kon marie-ing as soon as possible. :)

Slinky - please please please go for your scan. Yes they are uncomfortable but the nurses are always so lovely and caring. I've been picked up twice - first like Mrs M a harmless cyst about 20 years ago and the second 5 years ago which turned out to be BC. BUT because of the scans it was caught very early and after treatment I'm now back on the normal scanning programme. I was also picked up about 25 years ago on a smear test - a little op and all sorted so all of you ladies our NHS is trying hard to keep us fit and healthy so please have your tests done - they are a minor inconvenience compared to the alternatives
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Thanks very much for this GreyQueen, I've been umming and ahhing about whether to attend my first routine request for breast screening, I've discussed it with OH and have taken to view to attend and fingers crossed I'm in the 96% negative scans.

Definitely go. I have a non-routine appointment at the breast clinic today - my fourth, and the last one was last April. The consultant was very clear that as he can't tell whether a lump is problematic without a mammogram/ultrasound and in some cases a biopsy, there is no way I can - so anything that feels different means I go back. Keeping my fingers crossed that once again it's nothing to worry about.

So those of you who don't get routine screening due to your age, please remember to check regularly and learn what 'normal' feels like for you so that you'll pick up any changes as early as possible.

:) Definately go for the mammograms, ladies. I had my first routine one last year. It's a faintly-ridiculous thing, particularly for women like myself who are smaller on top, and a touch uncomfortable, but nothing worse than that.

I did have a false positive, and had to go for an additonal scan (nowt wrong) which was a touch stressy as Mum is a BC survivor, but we're big girls and we can cope with a little indignity in pursuit of potential life-saving treatment.

:D Came home from work and my freegler has duly picked up the Weird Item, which has made me very very happy. It was so weird, I wasn't sure I'd even get one taker, but one is all you need. Yippee.

I have thinned out a lot of the things which came over from the parental home on Sunday afternoon, only a few more things to be sorted out.

Yes, my thought about winning a KM consultation was also along the lines of I couldn't possibly have her in here.............:rotfl:
