Evening all!
I'm exhausted! I spent the afternoon with this OFSTED inspector I mentioned over the weekend. She was very personable and put me at ease, but still it was a mentally demanding afternoon!
I had to do a joint observation with her, which isn't usually something Joe Bloggs class teacher does! That's usually a head teacher job! And then she watched/listened while I did the lesson feedback! All quite intense, and now of course, I'm analysing everything I said!
I think I'm going to have a bath and then roll into bed early!Because it's fun to have money!

Flubberyzing that sounds very stressful.
Security light replaced so old one and the 'spare' that was kept for Justin (don't ask) both are going to work with Dh tomorrow to go in the leccy recycling bin.
Spent a very happy few hours going through photos, not got rid of a huge amount but resorted them and managed to get 5 albums worth into one slip album with pockets that allowed me to put similar (ie from same wedding or event) behind each other so they can be got out if we want to look at them all but just a general flip through just gives a feel of what's in there. I did lose a few scenery and back of head shots plus some mounts went into recycling. I must have spent a fortune on school photos over the years!!
5 old tatty albums have gone in the bin and two almost no ones can go to the CS.
Took a carrier bag full of children's books to school today y won't be read by mine again (if they ever were)
Two empty box files can go into recycling as they a very tatty and now empty, they came from DHs work years ago when they had a cleR out so don't owe us anything. Will keep the petty pink one I bought a while ago as I have a few keepers that can live in that.
Today's post has been dealt with and recycled where appropriate.
Text from hairdresser rebooking appt so in going next week now.
Going to have a cuppa and a few pages with a book now. Have a joyful night allSPC~12 ot 124

Rounded up an odd assortment of things for CS tomorrow - 2 micro fibre towels (whatever possessed me??), a travel file we've had for ages and never used, a couple of books, some socks that DH says have tight elastic so he's never worn 4 of the 5 pairs, a handbag that I will never use (no need for it and it does not spark joy), a couple of other odds and ends, and the broken suitcase, which may do as temp storage (I shall warn them that the zip is stuck!).
Kondo'd another lot of little chores from today's list and had a pub lunch, so all in all a Good day

Been a bit slow for a couple of days but have managed to get rid of some more bits of paper from desk and sorted out cards and letters from friends which need responding to. I'll not actually be writing the replies for another 3 weeks at least, but it's good to have got rid of the bits and pieces not needed so the pile looks less scary.
Hope brain will be a little more awake tomorrow so more desk sorting can happen. Recycling bins emptied on Thursday so would be good to fill them up!Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
Hello all, I feel better for having caught up with you all now
As I have more free space in my flat (rented), I seem to be considering kondoing what I use/waste - I would much prefer things with less packaging, having reusable things rather than single use/disposable. I know this isn't always an option. As one of the ME/CFS kondoites, I need to remember to balance 'environmentalist kondo' with not damaging my health. Things I am determined to try is to see if I can find an alternative milk that doesn't have a huge number of air miles attached to it - I'm allergic to dairy and currently use rice milk, which is nice, but would prefer something made in the UK, at worst Europe.
Fen, it sounds like you are in a very difficult situation. I lived with a hoarding partner for a few years and I'm so much more jumpy around lots of Stuff as a result. The 3 hoarding threads here on OldStyle were very helpful to me and have lots of understanding posters
I've been there with the shopping bags, not being able to find cleaning supplies or needing to tidy for hours before being able to sweep the floor or vacuum, I regularly struggled to find my clean clothes for all the other clothes and Stuff all over the bedroom. You are not alone, and hopefully these threads help you find some things that help - as the Hoarding threads say, You eat an elephant one bite at a time
ETA: I'm watching obsessive compulsive cleaners atm, I'm very very glad that they have reduced the sensationalism. The amount of bleach being used makes me feel a bit ill *but* I no longer think my place is just as bad and that I won't be able to sort it. A huge change from seeing the first series on TV:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Morning all.
MMF007, I unstuck an extremely stuck plastic suitcase zip by rubbing soap into it, might this work for you?
Haven't been posting much as haven't really been kondo-ing. A freegle item posted at the weekend is scheduled to be picked up tomorrow (the small very heavy thing) which will be great. I also prised the lid of a paint tin to check if it had solidified but it was still good. Didn't want to keep it for Justin and find that it wasn't any good when I needed it.;)
Got a post item yesterday, read the letter and then posted it thru the shredder and put the envelope into recycling. Gotta stop papery stuff getting a foothold, it's lethal and slow-to-shift clutter once it gets settled in.
Keep up the great work, everybody. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morni' GQ, yep, tried rubbing zip and tried re-aligning teeth (on zip!), but to no avail. I have been able to mend zips over the years but this beat me. Heyho, it cost relatively little years ago and has travelled a long way, been repaired already ( by me stitching and glueing) and served as storage every day of it's useful life so not complaining. I shall thank it as I release it
Have a joyful moment or two Everyone,

Ach well, it's earned its keep and then some.
Decluttering writer Don Aslett wrote in one of his books about how we tend to keep old luggage for storage after its let us down/ is disgracefully shabby. This is so true.
I've posted before about the Suitcase Archive in the parental loft (1950s to present day) but there is a suitcase up there which is made of a sort of pressed cardboard from the late 1950s. It was with the family on a coach holiday in the early 1970s and I can still recall the comedy moment when Dad picked up the handle at the coach station and it came away in his hand.
The suitcase was hastily given a makeshift handle fashioned from my skipping rope, which enabled it to be carried for the rest of the trip but once it was back home, it was in disgrace and went up into the loft, where it has lurked for the best part of 4 decades, never once seeing the light of day. Not sure if it was loaded all that time but it is presently holding some of the SABLE yarn stash.
Good discipline to get rid of these things regularly or they'll be around to be inherited by the grandchildren who'll probably be unimpressed unless you bought your luggage from Louis V in the first place.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We have one of those pressed cardboard suitcases in the loft. Complete with a list sellotaped inside the lid of the contents my MIL put into it when OH went away with some youth camp somewhere. He's 52 now. Can't recall what it's currently storing, I'll get to it at some point. It's green. I seem to recall all those sorts of suitcases being green. We had one in our house. I guess it's in my siblings loft.Make £2025 in 2025
