4 hefty hardbacks, 3 items of clothing, 24 nail polishes and a bundle of bubble wrap to to CS when I go out today. Weighs a ton, otherwise there would be more to go.

I have a long way to go, but I also am benefiting from a clearer and calmer mental state as the Kondoing (very slowly) proceeds.

It was so lovely to come back to a neat and tidy (and clean) house after our few days away, it was a tough couple of days getting ship shape, (all had gone to pot over recent months whilst I have been ill), just need to keep on top of everything while still managing to do some Kondoing, hope the energy levels will hold up.

MrsMP I'm exhausted just reading your 'done' list :T

I had some minor diy to do this morn and was really pleased to be able to quickly get the tools and finish the job in minutes. Before KM I had to scrabble underneath COD upstairs to drag untidy tool box out, so it was a disincentive and a timewaster!

still quite a lot on today's 'to do' list but mostly small-ish jobs so I reckon it's achievable. I do like to tick things off the list! Can't really describe them as Kondoing, just a lot of domestic admin and some cleaning, but made all the easier by the KM magic, truly.

    Enjoy the weekend everyone,

    M

Planning to kondo the prev mentioned cake that did not rise properly (frozen at the time), into a chocolate 'bread' n butter pudding :D
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I'm continually amazed by the by how much you all do and read the thread regularly since Mrs MP mentioned you over on the Elite thread. I had a joyful purchase today, Marie's first book from the withdrawn stock in the library. I had already borrowed it and Spark Joy so I can now lend it to my daughter who has a floordrobe and not a clean/tidy surface anywhere. Not much to kondo here as we downsized from 4 bed house to 2 bed a couple of years back, just DH's "justin" items in the garage. Have a productive weekend all.

It's so lovely, this thread, isn't it :)

I've been diving into the understairs cupboard, my very own Cupboard Of Doom. Old letters are carefully stashed within big envelopes according to where I lived at the time. I'm not kidding, there are Valentines cards from when I was 15 ... and I'm retiring this year! Everything is musty, even if it isn't downright mouldy.

Mouldy picture frames have bitten the dust into the bin. Musty bubble wrap also to the bin. Some things have gone to a charity shop bag, but not much - its too unpleasant. And why was I keeping the envelopes that things came in? One is quite cute, admittedly, a boyfriend delivered it by hand and used a Coop divvy stamp in a normal stamp's place :)

Air circulation will be much improved under there, but eventually I'll need to pull *everything* out and wipe it all down with bleach or Milton's or something.

    Afternoon all!
Well, Friday night turned into a dead loss! I'd been looking forward to Gogglebox and a cheeky vino, when I make the mistake of checking my work email in the first adverts, to discover from my line manager that Ofsted are coming to observe the student teacher currently in my class, as part of their judgement of the university!
Then ended up missing all the rest of the show as I emailed people back and forth!
Then I've spent a few hours this morning looking over the lesson plans for my student, because I want her to put on a good show! What a saga!
Determined tonight to NOT check work emails! Grrrr!

Just catching up on post after work today, and had a LB  not sure which post triggered it possibly the clothes basket one!
Anyway decided that the set of 2 suitcases "decorative " and are at the mo holding old decor mags, can now store toilet rolls in my down stairs loo !
A bit random I know , but we buy those big packs from home bargains and it takes up half the space in my airing cupboard. So the mags can go and I've also cancelled my subscription so will not be filled again :j
By the way I carry washing by the armful to the line in the garden :D
I have finished another paperback book so will pass that on tomorrow.

I've been to Denmark and Sweden and come back again :) The hotel in Sweden was fabulous - an octagonal room in a tower, decorated in traditional Swedish country style. Lots of beams (I don't think they were structural) and a HUGE chandelier in the middle of the room, just at the end of the bed. Overall a very calm, simple space with one very ornate feature.

I got home to my sitting room still under plastic with wires and pipes hanging from the ceiling and dust and bits of plaster (it falls of the ceiling when they're taking floorboards up/putting them down) everywhere. And no heating downstairs still, and dust... BUT my bedroom and ensuite now have floors, the bathroom tiling is started, the bedroom woodwork and walls have had a first coat of paint, and the bathroom panelling has been delivered. So lots of progress.

As soon as I finished work I went to babysit my niece and nephew - heating, food, hot water and an early night. What's not to like :)? Breakfast was also provided. As was this morning's entertainment (5-year-olds playing football is pretty funny...). Came home via the supermarket - not something I usually do, and now remember why, as it was horrible. I've cleaned the sitting room thoroughly and put the furniture back and it's lovely, despite the wires! Fire is lit, I have wine, and I'm going to have another early night.

I have about a week to work out what furniture will go back into my bedroom. I'm tempted to start with just bed and bedside tables and let it evolve. It's not as if anyone lives permanently in any of the other bedrooms, so there's no reason not to use one or more of them as a dressing room and keep my clothes in them.

Been busy with RL. Thread looks hale and hearty but I really dont have the time to look back to see what everybody has been up to! Today I took 2 bin liners and a very large carrier bag of stuff to CS. Tomorrow I am going to tackle some storage boxes full of kitchenalia which was packed in them in November when we ripped the kitchen out. They have been clogging up the DR and I am working on the basis that as I cant remember what is in the boxes I doubt very much I will need any thing :)

Greenbee: the hotel sounds lovely. Where was it? I'd love to see more of Scandinavia ( been to the Copenhagen area), but need to save the pennies again. I really really wished that we had filled our suitcases with food; even the most basic groceries cost a fortune!

    Re: grocery unpacking.

Kitchen cupboards are easy to access, so inaccessibility is not the problem. Did my teatowels before the knickers!

Over-shopping is not a problem. I make a list, but do stock up when things are on offer. I'm pretty good at knowing exactly how much space I have in my cupboards and freezer, so I don't buy if they are full. No overspills. If I have enough, why do I need more?

I don't have a veggie plot so have to buy all my fresh fruit and veg. We eat a lot of fresh fruit and veg. I have considered getting delivered veg boxes, but they invariably seem to have things in them that I don't like. ( I know substitutions can usually be made, but it's just another layer of faff.)

Going to the shop can sometimes be the only reason I have to leave the house. Sad. Pathetic. Knowing that I have to go and get a bottle of milk as there will otherwise be no milk gives me the incentive to do something. Having something that has to be done helps keep me on track. Home delivery would just be another layer of isolation and lack of physical exercise.

I'm married, just the two of us, plus 2 moggs. Did you see the recent 'Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners' featuring the husband with the model train shop and the wife desperate for a tidy home? That's a bit like us. OH is also Asperger, so doesn't notice or care about things. OH's work is very demanding and detailed, so all of his energy is spent at work ( beyond ironic that his work has to be super meticulous.) When he's at home he's exhausted. He has zero interest in the home, and is resentful if I ask him to do something. I can be in agony, and he still does not lift a finger to help, and if I do ask, he strops.
It has been very, very difficult over the years, and I have seriously considered leaving on several occasions.

The house is rented. I have always lived in rented, never had my own home, even as a child. Not having my own nest has a profound effect on me ( hoarding, untidiness, overwhelmed at the futility of polishing a t*rd )

So the not-unpacking. Bit of a symptom and a symbol of all my resentment and frustration and anger.

    Bit of a b*ggr really.

Hi all, haven't been on the thread (and don't have time to read back, sorry) but have been making small steps, chucking just rubbish that's been building up. I thought I was making good progress but had a real wake up call last night when a friend locked herself out of her house after we'd been out for the evening together. She has no family and there were a few minutes when the only option would have been for her to stay with me overnight, but luckily it turned out that the neighbour with a spare key was still up. Honestly the panic I felt at someone seeing more than just my living room was beyond normal and there was no way I could have made it respectable in a few minutes. It's really given me a kick up the bum to sort myself out.

Watching the marathon this morning and doing some work, but going to really crack on with some cleaning and tidying this afternoon, before I can begin my Kondoing. Phew.
