Yes they pay, it was pointed out if we just "return to sender" with no stamp tthe taxpayer foots the bill again for the post offices loss, but by using the Freepost addy the Conservative party pay for us to send it back to them.

Really pleased with the amount of stuff I've boxed up ready to go today. May have to do a CS run at the weekend after all.

Hi all, been for a day out today so no Kondoing here. Thanks for all your replies about things getting in the way of easy tasks - good to know it is actually a thing and I'm not imagining it or making it up to excuse my laziness.

Thanks Karmacat for the suggestions! I'm certainly going to give it another go but am hesitant to break in as it'll leave it un-secure then for burglars won't it? It's a brick outhouse with wooden door. I'm going to get new windows and front door on the house shortly so am thinking about getting a UPVC door on the shed at the same time. The thing stopping me ordering the windows is needing to tidy the house so it's presentable for someone to come round and measure up for a quote :wall:
Do something in your day that brings you joy even if it's only spending 1/2 an hour reading or crafting do something just for the pleasure of doing it.

I LOVE this! And on that note I'm off to bed with a hot chocolate and a book!

Yesterday I worked 14 hours, all very fast and organised, and then came home and organised some more :) I knew that today I would work 16 hours, so no time in the evening to prepare for Thursday.

Dd had a note from school about a sports day on Thursday, so I quickly ironed her school PE shirt. Normally she would bring her kit to school on Friday, as that's her regular PE day, and that's what I'd prepared mentally for. Luckily, the shirt was washed, and easy to locate in the almost empty ironing basket. The iron and board were at their designated places.

The local authorities organise an outside-play-day once a year, which is today. Normally I'm on parental leave on Wednesdays, and it's no problem to take them to such events. This year, I had to prep lunch boxes for both dds, write notes for both's teachers that they would be in the after-school care, put dd1's music book and recorder in her school bag, and make sure my dh knew where to take them. Pfffft.

This was all made easier by the fact that pen, note paper, music book and recorder are all in their designated places. DDs (and dh!) know that I get really mad if they use 'mummy's [x]' and then not put it back in its proper place. Eldest dd once missed a small event because of this, and has been faithfully not-using my stuff. Youngest dd follows her older sister's lead :). (The event dd missed was not huge, and she did not really care, but missing it because of her own behaviour did make a lasting impression.)

Yes, it would be unsecure :( I just wrote a sample of the typical thought processes though - your own circumstances are important :money:

Start where you can. I'll never, ever forget helping my sister to start to clear her garage after her husband died - there was literally room enough for the two of us to stand there, but that was it, for floor space. It was overwhelming. I suggested we start with a shelf that was in reach, and once we got going, that shelf was tidy and another four square feet had been added to the available floor space, just on that one day. It's worth it.

Been working on the papers on my desk, but had to kondo a sleepless night, so very dozy today ...

Took a trip to the tip this morning and got rid of some old garden toys, broken slabs that have been piled up for about 2 years and some general garden waste. I will need to do another trip to get rid of the rest of the slabs but it looks alot tidier. I am thinking of getting the drive and patio power washed. I will have to investigate how much that will cost.

    Hi Tete
I know exactly what you mean, you can't do anything because it's such a faff to do just ONE thing...it does get easier though. A few weeks ago I actually could not go from a- b without tripping over stuff I was sorting, or needing to find a home for. Now, even though all I really did was a kondo inspired declutter that isn't quite finished, it's so easy to do any given task - cook, wash up, get dressed because I can see what I need. You'll get there!

Well I wasn't sure if I should show my face around here as I've been on a bit of a spending spree the last few days however in my defence I did need a lot of new clothes for my trip this weekend and my NEW JOB starting Monday!

I did a lot better than usual as I was more focussed on what my wardrobe is missing, and sorting through just now I realise that some of the new stuff means I can release some joyless items I "had" to keep else I'd be wearing pyjamas to work!

My goodness, I have had the MOST satisfying afternoon!
I set to on the cupboard under the sink - you know the one, the cupboard of no return. (I'm so fed up of not being able to find things I KNOW I have).
I sorted out all the plastic boxes and tubs, throwing out all the tatty, broken and orphaned ones.
I still had too many, so then I chucked out all the ones I didn't like the colour of! I kept the good quality ones - genuine Tupperware etc., but anything cheap and nasty is gone forever!
Feeling all fired up, I moved on to the kitchen drawers. When Mr N and I got together, we merged two households, and consequently ended up with (at least) twice as much stuff as we needed. Understandably, I suppose, I didn't feel I could just chuck his stuff out - and I wasn't getting rid of mine, oh no!
However, 20 years or so down the road, we've since accumulated even more stuff, and I feel more 'entitled' to chuck some out - so today, out went at least 3 potato mashers, can openers, sets of measuring spoons and cups, corkscrews, and all manner of other assorted kitchenalia. All in a bin bag for the charity shop.
I found things that had been 'missing' for years and was able to restore things like my cookie cutter set, and my lemon squeezer and zester set, and the dough hooks for my mixer etc..
So now, we can actually open and close the drawers easily, and find what we are looking for. It feels so gooood!

    Afternoon all
Round mils this morning to do her tidying - went through kitchen and kondoed a black bag full of ood food (between 2-17 years old.
Kondoed a load of weeds from school flowers beds with some of the kids this afternoon, very satisfying
Gave some crafting mags to a neighbour from the CS bags, she was really pleased.
Had a massive tidy through as guy coming round tonight to talk us through plans for the bathroom refit.
Finished another paperback this morning but think mum will really enjoy it so saving it till I see her again.

    Have a joyful evening all.

When I moved in with now-DH almost 10 years ago, we merged my 3-bed semi with garage and his 3-bed terraced with converted attic. The charity shops in my old home town AND near my new home 50 miles apart all benefited from clothes, furniture and assorted carp :D

We've had a half -glazed UPVC door put onto our shed, it's made a huge difference to how tidy we keep it as we can see through the window now due to the extra light!

No kondoing right now as am away from home, but lots still to do when I get back, including sorting out my summer clothes and clearing the attic of unused "stuff" that Justin has persuaded DH to hang onto :(
