I am terrible at quoting, thanking people and who said what on this thread but rest assured I do read and take on board various things. I really like the idea of the throw but know it will no doubt become one of those half finished things for me as I will be missing something and it would get put on back burner and then I'd forget about it till next spring clean!

Had to chuckle at my kiddo this morning, she is back at school and I am off. Normally I give her a lift on way but teased her she would be walking as I am having a teenage lie in. She has been howling/singing in the shower, turned my light on (my pet hate), attempted to pull of my duvet and has now threatened me with a glass of water!

I have a couple of mystery shops to do, general tidy and then KD. Not sure what yet but is it wrong to be really excited about the last one?

    Morning all
Hope everyone is well and has as good a day as possible.
Thank you for the very kind comments about my throw. Hope you find enough inspiration on pintrest to persuade your friend to konvert Her Ts into one Mavvy.
Not sure what my plans are yet. I need to gather more stuff together that has already been decided upon, Dh thinks we won't have enough to make it worth doing a CS run this weekend - I'd like to prove him wrong.
In fact I may be persuaded to get another load of my old cross stitch mags out and see how many more of them I can kondo away to the CS.

Do something in your day that brings you joy even if it's only spending 1/2 an hour reading or crafting do something just for the pleasure of doing it.

'Do something in your day that brings you joy ...' what a great mantra!

Tete, there should be a word for what you describe - the obstacles that stop you from doing simple jobs. I realised a while back that its this sort of thing that holds me up and I try to ensure that essential kit is easy to access.

Kondoing makes this all much easier, I know exactly where the screwdrivers, paintbrush, spare sewing machine needles and shoe polish are now. There's still the problem that some storage places are awkward to get to, my under-stairs cupboard is back-wrenchingly difficult to get into, and it's the only place to keep the Hoover and lots of other random (but Kondoed) stuff.

Keep on going though, because as you reduce Stuff you'll find a lot of these obstacles melt away!

I am doing a bit of consultancy now I am retired and have a pile of paperwork for a local start up business. On Sunday I decided to get down to it and get it done, sent out report to client yesterday, and the invoice, so that is one pile of papers that I can file away.

My tax returns, well mine and husbands, aren't progressing very fast as I need P45s and some other bits but I am chasing them so hope to get it all done this month but by the end of May for definite. We will see how that goes.

I have some e bay stuff to sort out and list and I am going to try to do that today or tomorrow, I do have a medical appointment today so might have to be tomorrow.

I don't feel very motivated at the moment, not sure why, but reading about everyone and what they are doing is helping so thank you everyone.

I was musing to myself as I was washing up, about the lawn getting long and I thought, "Why don't I JUST DO IT? Instead of thinking about doing it, just do it??" and the answer is because I know the shed door is wedged shut after all the rain we had over winter (I know because I tried to put a rake away a few weeks ago) and I can't face tackling that. It's the same with everything in this house - every simple job is made harder by something else adding to it, usually because everything's in such disarray, that I can't face doing anything at all. Does that make sense? Is that how you feel/have felt? Blergh.
Yes! That is exactly how I have felt! I eventually found a way round it after talking about it on a diary thread. Its that every task in that series thats needed to accomplish something becomes its own point on the list (I like lists :) ). So in your exaample: I want to put the rake away, but the shed door is shut because its swollen from the rain. Okay:
    1. where is a knife to try to lever it open from the outside?
    2. will oiling the hinges help?
    3. where is that thin saw that I bought from a junk shop thats thin enough to get through the gap at the bottom, so I can saw the bottom off?
    4. where are my good gardening gloves, so I don't hurt myself doing this carp?
    5. If it still doesn't work, is there a "man who can" who does odd jobs? Do I need to get quotes, or is it worth going with only 1 or 2 for the time saving? Are there any other jobs a bloke like that could do, to save multiple trips? Or ...
    6. Is the shed worth saving? If its going to be demolished, you
could help it on its way and demolish the door? That may well be overkill ...

    Thats the process :) HTH

So the ensuite has been gutted. And we've found evidence behind the tiles of a. a previous leak and b. an previous shower (there isn't one now). The tiles also go behind the bath.

I was originally going to just change the tiles (using a few left over from a previous house), taps and panelling, put a new basin and loo in and redecorate. As they have to fix the wall, it makes sense to put in a shower now rather than later. Not good for the budget right now, but best in the long term.

I've just ordered doorknobs too... there comes a point when you have to make a decision!

Good idea to get it all done if you can, don't want all that disruption again if you get a shower later and probably cheaper to do it now. Have you got to the stage where you wish you hadn't started? I normally hit that and things start to get better.

It's funny, this has reminded me about our kitchen tap. The previous one started leaking and needed replacing. I just couldn't find anything I really liked, so in the end had to settle for 'that'll do' as the problem needed sorting. I didn't really like the taps at the time, but everything else was worse. I really don't understand why anybody would want corners on square taps (even worse in the bathroom where there's a danger of bashing bare flesh on them) but that was all there seemed to be at the time.

I can't say the kitchen tap fills me with joy, but it serves a purpose and I don't really notice it now.

Sometimes you DO have to accept a 'that'll do' otherwise no progress will be made at all.
