I always makensure all clothing items are stored right side out, just to prevent these accidents, and to save myself time in the morning.

I have noticed that my unwillingness to bring new items into the house extends to charity food events. Last year, the kindergarten started selling waffles to raise money for new foldable tables, and this year the local church is raising money for renovation of the village hall by selling pancakes. I don't want to overpay for food, but I am happy to just hand over the money. How weird can you get?

Today I've used up holey socks (that I collect on last weeks underwear draw sort out) doing the dusting, so have a clean house and the bag isn't over flowing.

On the topic of inside out clothing, I got up late for an early morning train, jumped out of bed got dressed... made the train sat downy only to discover, I actually had my trousers on inside out... I've done jumpers / tops on far to many occasions..

The thing is where do the other socks go? I felt ashamed reading about everyone matching up their socks so when I was sorting out my washing this morning I thought I would all the odd ones of the drawer and all the newly washed ones and try to match them up. I found one matching pair, so where are the other? It is a mystery and I think Panorama should do an investigation into it.

I have spent the weekend having a clear out,we had a car load of stuff. We are very lucky to have a council tip that has two big shipping containers where you can put your unwanted goods, then anyone can go in and help themselves. We have had some amazing things from there,we try not to refill the car with more clutter which defeats the object.

:rotfl:Oh, loving this. How embarrassing for the owner of the cat, particularly as she can't trace the owner of the socks and underpants. You could use this as the basis of a rom-com movie plot; woman meets man, gives him back his stripy underpants, they fall in lurve and live happily ever after.........

I note the cat is a Siamese. Parents have got a mongrel oriental cat and she's a bit odd, too. She's never brought in clothing but, in summer, she's liable to steal from neighbours' outside tables and bring bits of non-cat food in and leave them around the living room floor.

Why she has a thing about pizza we have no idea. And it's not exactly something you can tout around the neighbourhood to return, is it?

Minor annoyance today in that a freegler who asked for something at 7pm sent a msg at 10.30pm to say it was no longer required. Grrr. Never mind, it's back up on the site and can always go in a chazzer bag if necessary, it's pretty small. Haven't been messed around by a freegler for a long time so had forgotten it can sometimes happen.

Don't plan any kondo-ing today as will be at work but ya never know.

I used to have the same style of shoes in black and navy .... well one day (you can tell where I am going with this I guess :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)

Oh I've done it worse than that. I realised on the way to a job interview that I'd put on navy shoes wearing black tights and a dark purple suit. Like you my black pair were identical to the blue ones. I didn't even have to look (I was driving at the time), I just realised that from where I'd put them on, they were the pair I'd worn the day before and knew those were blue.

I didn't have time to go home and change, but having just a few minutes to spare before the interview, I dashed into a shoe shop, bought their cheapest pair of black court shoes and left my blue ones with them whilst I went for the interview.

Of course, I didn't get the job, probably didn't like my cheap shoes!

    Morning all :D
A bit of a change in the weather today from bright sunny summer like to dull grey and pouring with rain.

Oh well have to do a few jobs this morning including getting rid of some wood for Dad have no idea why or what or where its come from. Its most likely a 10 x 8 shed which has been lurking in the back of the narnia cupboard :D

When I get back I will get on with some more decorating which as we all know is a never ending job

Have been living with a plain wall with no pictures or anything on it and as GQ said I also really enjoy looking at the nothingness :D So its staying like that.

The house is staying so tidy and clean I am sure the cleaning book is paying off I even cleaned the oven the other day which is a yearly type job for me :rotfl:Should be done around August so I am ahead of the game ;)

Got my sandals out and there is a few pairs which no longer spark anything in me let alone joy so they will be starting the next Charity shop bag ;) along with a few other tops etc that I can do without really.

Nothing is coming into the house my shopping habits have changed so much with this process its a real eye opener for me.
In true MSE style I am saving money and will spend only if we really really need something (which we dont) ;)

:) You should knock off for the night, put the kettle on/ pour a small libation, and relax.

In fact, if your builders are working tomorrow, it would be more efficient to leave dust-chasing until after they've left for the day and then you can catch some of Monday's dust along with any still lying around from last week.

We should all aim for efficiency at all times, particularly when we need to take efficient rest.

I did actually get it all done, and had a bath and cleaned the bathroom... My bedroom is in a bit of a state as I haven't unpacked or put away the ironing (I outsource it) which needs packing into suitcases to protect it from the dust.

Hoovering, mopping and dusting/damp wiping daily does help with the dust, although it is frustrating. Otherwise it just keeps on getting stirred up. And there is dust in the air, so it keeps on settling for months.

Builder has gone to buy more floorboards and door latches. I need to order more door handles. And contact the window company to come round and explain a few things... and arrange to get blinds made. I also need to do some work.

The builder's 'assistant' is currently chopping the un-reusable floorboards into 8" lengths for me to use as kindling/logs. Nothing is being wasted! I also have a rotten fence panel drying out which will eventually go into the kindling bin as well.

    Morning all

Loving the odd/inside out clothing chat.
Re the sock stealing cat my sister had two cats and one day came down to find a still warm roast leg of lamb on her kitchen floor with a trail of grease leading from the cat flap into it. She told me the joint was huge so it must have been team effort. Soon after she heard shouting next door and raised voices proclaiming a thief had ruined the day. She later learned they'd invited guests round for lunch that they had to take out at short notice as a sneak thief stole their joint. Funnily enough she never did dare admit her moms were the guilty party.
Plan today is nip in attic to find solar garden lights, return a suitcase and see if I can find anything to kondo.

  • Five got a bad track record with inside-out clothing. The worst one was a swimsuit. Mostly it didn't notice, but you know the white nylon gusset ... I realised halfway through my swim, and then I had to face getting out of the pool and walking back to the changing room. :rotfl:

I am just catching up after a weekend away. Yet again, packing my bag was so easy and I realised another benefit - once packed, the bedroom is tidy. Used to be that I'd pack and the room would look like a crime scene with drawers open and clothes all over the bed, as I'd hunted high and low for what I needed. It's lovely to return home and not have all that to clear up.

I don't have odd socks since MK, but I couldn't bear to wear odd ones, they'd feel all wrong. And I'm loving the wrapping paper suggestions. Mine lives in a drawer under the bed together with gift bags.
