MMF  yes that does sound really dangerous - be careful up those ladders
I have tried to pack things I can bin rather then bring them home. I'm too soft (or mean) and it rarely works for me.
Did the overnight nursing shift so friend's husband could sleep before work. I'm itching to get organising and sorting in this room, it's v cluttered! Consoling myself by doing dishes instead:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
I've brought stuff home from holidays in the past that could have been binned (finished suncream bottles for example) in countries where there doesn't appear to be recycling schemes. I feel guilty about contributing to their landfill.Make £2025 in 2025

I've caught up with the thread and am plodding through kondoing jobs. Spent some time tackling the study today. A recycling bag is filling nicely and the shredder is holding its own.How do you all store your DVDs/CDs" they take up so much space!
OH and I have an extensive collection between us. What we have done:
Stage 1 was moving to digitisation; with the exception of very special boxsets that will be devoured in their entirety and treasured for years to come, all new media entering the house has been in digital format. We've bought a very large hard drive to accommodate this.
Stage 2 was to transfer discs to storage books like this:
Discs are organised by category (e.g. Disney, comedy, horror etc). The empty boxes are currently stored in boxes in the attic, as I'm hoping some will be re-homed as we streamline the collection. The books sit in the sideboard in the living room, taking up much less space than the boxed counter parts did.
I am slowly gearing up for stage 3, which is to sell ones we will never watch again via CEX or similar. We'll only get pennies back, but it is better than nothing. This is one area of kondoing where I've struggled with the 'sunk costs' of the initial purchases vs what we could potentially get back. The further I progress along my kondo journey, the easier it is becoming to rationalise them leaving the house, but I'm not quite there yet.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

I do that, too. It seems disrespectful to bring in non-recyclables and just dump them. Particularly as I accidentally discovered the mountaintop site on Crete where the bin bags are taken and set fire to in the open air(!) This was in 2002, things may have improved since.
:T Have been up at the horsepickle with the ladybumps and they can't find anything untoward, thank goodness. Going back in 3 months for a check-up just to be sure. Suspicions there that the pain is referred muscular-skeletal, possibly originating in my neck, they will write to my GP and hopefully I'll get that investigated and sorted. Some people have long considered me a pain in the neck..........
On matters kondo-ish, I have been down to the chazzer with the wally-trolley and a holdall, it may be my last gift-aidable donation as I have paid income tax this month but strongly suspect I will not be paying it in April as my income is so low. I will be paying more NI, which is tax by any other name, of course.
Am going to stick a couple of things on freecycle shortly, not really chazzer-shop good enough but too good to bin, hopefully they will find new homes.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Yes I can see that. I have some reusable bottles that I take stuff in so don't take any big bottles and I bring my little bottles back. I do keep it to a minimum and if I am away for a few days will buy products locally and leave them in the hotel room when I leave. I hope (maybe optimistic) that the hotel staff might use them particularly if its a poorer country. I don't know much about recycling abroad.Sell £1500

doing things !!!!! backwards I know
but 've just KM'd my underwear drawer. 15 pairs of sorry looking oh-be-joyfuls and 2 equally sad looking bras are going to the rag bag (shan't be cutting out the crotch, life is too short :rotfl:)
Undies now fit in what was pj drawer, pjs fit much better in what was undies drawer.
In hindsight, it seems so obvious that my problem was not so much a lack of storage as an abundance of stuff. Slowly but surely that problem is being resolved.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
I've just brought clothes washing in from the line, for the first time since starting kondoing. In the interests of handling things as few times as possible, I used the garden table to help me fold/roll things that will be going straight into a drawer before putting in the bottom of the basket. Socks, which I considered too fiddly to deal with went in next with things that need ironing, turned the right way round (ie reversing the inside out they have been for washing), ready to go into the ironing box. Will shortly be taking the box upstairs and rehoming the contents as necessary.
Have I discovered a new technique, or do you already do this?Make £2025 in 2025

Spent the afternoon kondoing weeds from the garden followed by the random scattering of some packs of flower seeds that have been knocking about way to long. As I've said before I work on the two chances method of gardening if they grow they grow if they don't they don't and they certainly won't if they stay in the drawer.
I've got a couple of packs that need to be planted later in the year and some veg that I need more compost and grow bags for.
I plan to get the drawer emptied this year as to start afresh if I need anymore next year. I always have grand plans and get as far as seed buying.
Weather is actually lovely out so I've enjoyed my afternoon.
Slinky I used to sort dry non iron laundry at the garden table last year like you to minimise handling it does make it so much easier. I haven't got the table back out yet after putting the garden to bed before winter. Plan is to get the table chairs garden lights etc over this holiday then I'll join you with alfresco clothes rolling.
GQ glad to hear your lady bumps got a clean bill of health.SPC~12 ot 124

Greece is better than it used to be, there are at least recycling bins in the places we've visited over the past 3-4 years, whether they are actually recycled or just dumped with the general trash, who knows. The Greeks have huge problems as we all know.
