I use these TC, and you can use the plastic cases to make all kinds of things (pinterest). I use a few as photo frames.

Ah, thanks for this. I never even considered storing them without cases. :o

I am doing mine by this method
Every time I wash a pair I put them in a separate drawer,
I take a fresh pair out of the regular drawer,
I'v nearly got to the bottom of the pile now and a few pairs have been put in the bin that I didn't like
I think I just wore the same few pairs all the time , so having a good sort out this way

I cannot throw away items that are technically still fine. So, I will focus on the 'old' ones, and wear them as much as possible until holes develop. This is not KonMarie, I know, but it is better for my budget. Serves me right for not buying better quality in the first place.

Thanks for your responses Siebrie and GreyQueen.

The art I like is mainly the kind of illustrations you see in old books of plants, flowers, and birds. I do have some Arthur Rackham prints that I really like but never seem to transfer well into frames. The best pictures I have are actually illustrations of flowers which I cut from an old calendar and framed. Actually, come to think about it, I might still have the calendar lurking under the bed! Another hidey hole not properly Kondoed, oh dear...

I too am not keen on pictures of people. The only family photos I have do not face me when i am sitting in my home. I have a lot of old family photos scanned into my PC and I am very happy with them all there. I don't like pictures of bodies either. I mean pictures of people artistically draped on things or looking vacant rather than dead ones!

There are a couple of pictures I would like to take down but the wall paper beneath is now slightly discoloured. I am going to have to see if I can do anything about this.

Maybe I am tackling this issue too soon anyway. I think it is more of a final presentation thing and I am just distracting myself from getting on with the dreaded shed Kondoing!

Decorating advice from Susanna Salk in The Guardian: This does not mean laying out a row of pictures and calling it a day: details have power only when they come from the heart. [...] Do not worry about what goes with what: if it means something to you, its inclusion will always looks right.

The woo is flowing at Pavlov towers this morning...OH has joined in voluntarily and is even beginning to let go of stuff  chazza bags filling nicely and you can now get in and out of the RoD without breaking your neck. We've even discovered carpet that was buried under all the carp :rotfl:

I feel loads better today about cutting up the old undies, they were near death anyway. What made it better was going into my draw having my matching sets together, viewable... normally takes ages rummaging to find matching sets. So much better :)

I did DD last night & DS this morning, he had so many holey socks but still about 12 pairs fine. I took two bags of clothes that I sorted looking for all my pyjamas yesterday to one of those clothes banks, did it as I was going to Asda last night and they have them there. I prefer to donate to local charities, but if I'd of left them in the bags overnight I'd of put them back away.

Today's plan is the gym wear... I have loads but going to have to do it just before I go out, I need to pop to the pet shop so will drop items off straight away, I'm going to have to do it like this.

GQ, thanks for all the updates, really enjoyed them, same to greenbee and MMF007. I don't know how old you all are but whatever, your energy levels are fantastic, I run out of energy just doing my own kondoing. Well done.

GQ, does your Mum notice the difference yet, I find kondoing so uplifting and hope your parents feel the same?
:p I asked her and she said it felt good. She's been very pleased in the past when certain categories of Stuff, esp the knitting pattersn (8 huge lever arch files full) got kondo'd and sometimes still randomly chortles that she doesn't miss those a bit.

Mum once said to me I don't mind organising but I don't want to be there when it happens. :rotfl:

I'm in from work and fall-on-my-face tired, so the chazzer stuff will have to sit for another day or so.

Thats the kind of thing I use (50 for £1 from the 99p shop). It drives me crazy the way DVDs take up so much space - they're just selling them in that shape container because thats what videos looked like! Admittedly, some box sets use space well nowadays, and I keep those.

The other thing is - its difficult to sell them on, i.e. I don't try :D

    Happy announcement :

Almost a year on and DH is still rolling up his smalls and socks... so I have to do it too. :j

I do need to Kondo my wardrobe again though - despite a major eBay exercise earlier this year too many hangers are holding items that are anything but joyful again :o

I am happily working my way through my craft stashes, another 30 years or so and I'll be clear!

  • CDs have proved a real obstacle for me. I 'only' have about 120, not many compared to some, they were in a storage tower which didn't spark any joy and where I couldn't see what was on the bottom shelves.

I thought I'd put them into plastic wallets and get rid of the cases, as another poster on here did, but found it really difficult. Pop and rock CDs often have the tracks listed on the face of the CD, but classical ones don't and often the sleeves have a lot of info about the artists, music etc.

Then I thought I'd try putting them in storage boxes, with their cases, on the basis that I could label the boxes (e.g 'choral', 'Motown') and I'd just need to fish out the box I wanted. I still think this might be the route but I'm looking for the right boxes.

So at the moment I'm at an impasse - half wallets, half boxes and I'm not listening to any music. I'd love to hear what others are doing!

I store all my rock/ pop/ indie CDs in alphabetical order (used to do the same with vinyl and cassettes from when I was about 13), followed by classical. followed by compilations, followed by Xmas ones :D:D Oh - and I'd personally never not store them in the cases :D
