Morning all, I have been reading your posts for a few months now and have been inspired to start sorting through the rails, drawers and cupboards of stuff in our house. Although I don't believe at the moment I am 100% Kon Marie, it is definitely heading in the right direction and intend to revisit places I have already been. Clothes is my main problem area. I work in a senior management position and looking and more importantly feeling good is all part of it, hence I have rails of suits, dresses and shoes. I have tried to find storage solutions that make my reduced amount of 'stuff' more manageable but definitely need to thin things out some more. Like the idea of wearing stuff to see if really still need it, I've got a tshirt and nightware drawer that I sorted early on but haven't really worn anything much out of there just my favourites so will revisit those today and a massive basket in my bedroom which I haven't looked in yet that contains things I don't want to part with but don't wear anymore - why?????
Garden storage, I converted an old shed to a wood store last year last year so needed to find a new home for garden tools inc a lawn mower and the plastic storage boxes already mentioned are great. I bought mine from homebase with nectar points and it looks good and is very effective.DF by Christmas 2014 #78 £18,964.15/£15,000

We have 3 of these VJsmum the plastic ones with the 2 doors on the front and a lift up lid they are for bike storage I think. But they are really excellent and hold loads
We have 2 in with the Chooks for all their food, bedding etc.and one just outside the back door with dog food, mop and bucket. and a chest of drawers with a the decorating stuff in
They were on offer at HB for about £90 each but well worth it in my opinion

Not much happening on the Kondo front here, been a busy week trying to fit 5 days work into 4 days, and it's the physically demanding part of my job this week, so has been pretty tiring. Getting there I think.
Have Kondo'd some carp from the car - bits and bobs, plus 5 years of old tax discs and their holder. Was I really being sentimental about old tax discs? I think I may have been..... oh dear, I think I may need help!
Yesterday I Kondo'd the bag I take along to my Thursday group. Months and months of accumulated junk. It was getting so heavy, I'd stopped using my proper bag and another one was filling up again with business cards from visitors I don't remember meeting and assorted junk. It all went today in the recycling collection and my proper bag was as light as a feather this morning.Make £2025 in 2025

Forgot to say GQ, you'd have been proud of me this morning; last weekend I ran out of hairspray (hence the rummage and consequent kondoing of the holiday drawer to see if I could find a small can I usually take on holiday - I didn't of course find it, until OH had been and bought an expensive can of Elnett, the only one he could find in a shop open on Easter Sunday, that wasn't rock-hard hold). Hairspray then made its way onto the weekly shopping list. Two cans of my normal one found their way into my trolley this morning (special offer), then I thought, why am I buying this now? I have a nearly full can which will last me weeks, why do I need to buy another 2 now, especially as they are too tall to fit in the bathroom cabinet so have to live on top and add clutter.
So back on the shop's shelf they went.Make £2025 in 2025

The first time we went to Cuba we were asked by the waitress if we had any old clothes so we gave her some t shirts ,when we went next we took a pile of my Grandsons clothes he had outgrown and walked up the beach till we found some local homes and gave them the clothes. They are very grateful and she wanted to give us shells etc as a gift in return.
I always leave left over toiletries in the room for the maids. We even had some workmen ask if we had any left overs once, so feel at least it's being used.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Ooh, I like the sound of the plastic mini shed things. Not sure we actually have room for them in our mini garden though.
A friend of ours jokingly commented that he couldn't even turn his ride-on mower round in it, it's that small :rotfl::rotfl:
kondo'd confidential papers for the folks today. Well it's a great excuse for a bonfire, in the warm sunshine!! Further gardening by DH also contributed to the fire so it was 2 good jobs done.
Have not manged to pursuade mum to clear all the very OOD food from the cupboard of doom. GQ, I need you here!
Am itching to get back to my own kondo-ing, I still have lots to do. It's bad when you want to ditch the parental visit so you can get on with releasing Stuff from your own upboards:eek:
As others have found before, I keep getting drawn back to categories that I know could usefully be re-visited. I think it does take practice, partly because many of us are trying to break the habits of a lifetime
Well, tomorrow's another day. There will be something joyful and I'll probably learn something new, so it's a win-win, eh?!

I'm with you in spirit, MMF007.
I once helped a pal clear out her kitchen. It was this millennium. She had spices in her spice rack with pre-decimal prices on them.
The mad thing was, she'd moved many times since we went decimal and had been dragging these things from home to home, all of which were now brown dust with no more scent or savour than sawdust.:rotfl:
Three items have left via freegle this evening (all three from Mum's stash) so that's all good. Spreading the joy.......Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
