Have been lurking for a while after a prolonged absence but this weekend I bit the bullet and got on with it. Five Re-Bags to Sally Anne. To be fair , one whole bag was full of CDs which I'd picked up last weekend at the car boot sale (the guy couldn't be bothered to pack them back up and was going to bin them so I took them to pass on.)

Have folded and put away most of the clean laundry and have two loads on the line. Towels and stuff I love. Yesterday I got rid of my last coloured towels - only white cotton from now on so they can be boil washed and hung out to freshen.

Am stopping for an ice-cream and a sit down in the garden - you take full advantage of any sunshine up here - and then am planning to go through the socks/tights/underwear to see what I can get rid of.
    Looking ahead
  • Congratulations all n your progress. I've just got my one-year anniversary badge, and as I only joined the forum to be able to post on this topic that means I've been MKing for just over a year! I completed the 'go through the whole house' process a while back and the areas that I did fully have remained tidy (I'm looking at you, knicker-drawer!) but there are quite a few areas where I dodged some difficult topics or didn't complete the category and they definitely need revisiting.

I've also recognised that although my tolerance for komono and kipple has been much reduced, I'm still at heart a clutterer and if I haven't found a home for something and made it easy to put things away, then Stuff will gather. It's so quick to tidy up now, though, and I'm bringing much less Stuff in.

Onward and upward Kondoites! Paperwork has been my biggest success, CDs and craft stuff my weakest area.

I have recently kondoed my magazine collection. I had loads of food magazines so I cut out all the recipes I wanted to keep and the rest has gone into the recycling....

All I need now is something pretty to keep my recipes in, any ideas?

I used to do this Floss, but found myself looking up the recipe on the net anyway. Just laziness on my part I suppose.

If I find one online I like the look of, I'll just print it off and use it. If it gets used several times and starts looking grotty, but is obviously a keeper, I'll print another copy off and laminate it that point. I don't bother laminating anything I'm not absolutely sure I'll keep using. They live in an A4 card folder in the rack with the cookery books.

I picked up a laminator machine for a fiver at Tesco and the pockets are really cheap.

:D I have kondo'd a large bluish pumpkin which has been roosting on a dinnerplate on the kitchen counter for about 6 weeks. It took an hour to turn it into chunks, half of which were frozen raw, the other half which were the major consitituent of a hearty soup.

Good to have that gone, plus I added some rather weary carrots which were loitering in the fridge.

Have done booger all today apart from lounge around at home as have been very tired and decided to have a day of rest. Have finished a book off the To Be Read shelf and it is now in the chazzer bag, plus done a little work on the WIP, all of which, along with the pumkinincide, contribute to having fewer things on the premises.

I reckon if I watch the last two episodes of the box DVD set I have on loan from my brother, that counts as decluttering as I want to get it back to him at Easter.

We are eating through the bags of frozen buns/rolls I wombled at work. They were leftovers from a work event, about 70 pieces, and I just could not let them be thrown away. My colleagues are very neat eaters, everything was on a nice sidetable, and only on there for about an hour, so I had no problems bringing them home. It gives me great joy (and a selfrighteous feeling) to eat them on a Sunday morning.

    :) Nice one, Siebrie.

Have now finished the boxed set so that can definately go away at the weekend.

  • I've gone and done it and I feel liberated. One whole sack of pJ's and underwear disposed of. I have left three gorgeous pairs of pj's that I would hardly wear as didn't want to ruin them (why oh why ) so one of them being worn now. 14 knickers 14 socks half a dozen tights and 8 bras left. It still seems too many as you can only wear one at a time. I now have a whole empty drawer. Sweetdreams everyone xx

    Good morning Kondoites.

Did a tip run on Friday, got rid of a load of old junk. Yesterday I gifted my unwanted electric look-a-like "log burner" to DS1 for the conservatory. I now have two boxes of stuff for the auctioneers - old clock, , some porcelain etc. No idea of the value but should fetch a few shekels.

Have bought DS2 some nice new bedlinen and last night he said he's going to tackle his clothes this week. Result.:D

Didn't manage the desk and bookcases in study but have cleared some floor space so it's a start.

    I'm getting there......
