    Morning all
Plan today is to deadhead the daffs on the front and start bagging up the CS stuff, I am slowly starting to see that wonderful stuff called space, so far only little pockets of it are creeping in here and there but I'm hoping that if I nurture them and make them feel welcome they will grow and eventually fill bigger areas to create more space for us in the house.

    Have a joyful day all

  • Since I freed up space in the cupboard, I keep tea and coffee in there instead of out on the worktop, a huge win. It makes sense to keep sugar for drinks in its own container to offer to guests but I don't need to decant tea and coffee.

In fact, I've gone on using the 'tea' tin out of habit, and have just realised I could free it up, it's a rather pretty Emma Bridgewater tin which I'm sure could be used for something else. Completely agree with what GQ says, these things are always in charity shops.

Working on the recently read theory (thanks pintrest) "if it takes less than two minutes to do just do it and don't put it off." The daffs were deadheaded when I went out to wave ds2 off to school, the washing machines been loaded and started and the done washing is now out on the line. Our bed has been made. A small bottle of hand wash has been decanted into the large half used bottle in the kitchen so the small empty one can be kondoed into recycling now it's rinsed, a photo frame that keeps breaking has been taken apart to glue properly later and a text has been sent. I've spent about 20 mins in total but just done loads of jobs I've been putting off.

Going to go and bag the Cs stuff now, that will take longer than two mins but hopefully if I do it now more will add to it before it goes rather than a frantic dash to bundle it in a bag and just take what I already know is going.
Shoe boxes are by the door to go work with me at lunchtime.

Whilst in the shower, having a seethe, I'm wondering whether to swap the current tins we use for these blessed pots he wants to keep. I don't actually like them, the sugar one has sugar in it but sits in the cupboard (nobody other than the occasional workman takes sugar in drinks and we eat low carb), the utensils one does actually get used. I may put the tins in the cupboard for a bit. These pots are quite a bit bigger and take up more space on the worktop...... but at least the damn things would be being used and one of us would be happy........

Have been to the loft this morning to locate something I'd spotted a few weeks back to go to the charity shop. Found a box with some random crap in - two hideous ties, an awful plastic belt, a rolling pin!! a camera tripod and some files of old paperwork about decorating choices in our previous home............ most of it has come downstairs, along with some pyrex dishes which can also go.

Spotted the airbed whilst up there which is a good find, we weren't sure if we'd still got it and may need it later this year. Located the pump the last time I was up there which prompted the conversation.

Found another file of old paperwork which will be going through the shredder today. Binmen come tomorrow!

Just realised the charity shop would be closed on Friday so have done a quick trip so I could get parked outside when it opened..

Is that a record, from loft to charity shop in under 30 minutes?

We had to return an appliance because it was faulty, but - of course - I had already used the box to store dd2's next-sizes-up trousers. So now the trousers are on the bed in the guestroom, and dd1 has found her last year's ones that she suddenly claims to love, but are too small (she claims they still fit, and with ankle boots, they look passable, but without boots, they are clearly too short). Dd2 has found some pairs that she claims to love, even though they are several sizes too large, and has added them to her trouser box in the wardrobe. Mayhem! All my careful sorting work gone! I feel deflated and restless at the same time.

I think we need a sympathy button but will have to make do with thanks but you really do have my sympathy. My son is in danger of being as much of a hoarder as his dad but I am fighting it. I have persuaded him to donate a set of books to his nephews, it is a big set. I have cleared his old wardrobe and sorted some stuff out. I three plastic crates of old paperwork, school books, mobile phone boxes and various instructions for things I don't think he even has anymore. When he comes home I am going to tell him he either sorts them or they go in the back of his car. His room now looks tidier, the books fit on the book shelves now the set is gone and the stuff that was spilling out from under his bed has gone in the wardrobe. Small triumphs.

Siebrie sorry you've hit a stumbling block with the clothes, hope the girls realise those clothes don't actually fit and they decide to let them go.

Just had a good sort out - barely scratched the surface in the particular room TBH we can only get in there because the door opens outwards onto the landing, there is no visible floor! Anyway from what I could reach 7 charity bags have now been filled and a bag for the clothes bank. So I am slowly making floor space in there. I know to be true to kondoing I should pull it all out and categorise it but chipping away is working better for me and at least I'm not trashing the rest of the house while doing it.
Off to take the bag down to the clothes bank now then need to ring the CS to see if it's open on Friday or if that's waiting till Saturday.
Must emember mil has a bag of shoes I can take as well. She agreed that now she wears the leg brace 90% of her shoes are unwearable so let me bag them up for her.

I would love an 'I sympathise' button on this thread! I keep clicking the 'thumbs up/thank you' button to express my sympathy.

The importance of KonMarie has hit home again. I live next to Brussels' airport, and work the other side of it. Many of my colleagues live central Brussels. What if we have to evacuate the area quickly, what would and could I take? e.g.: are the confidential documents I work with safely stored in the fireproof cabinets?

Oh my word :( I'd seen the news reports, and am following the live updates, the poor people affected :( - are you in the lockdown area? And yes, evacuation isn't just a worldwide shtf thing, it's very real for all sorts of emergencies - undiscovered WWII bombs, gas leaks, fires, and sadly terrorist attacks :( It would be worth having a go-bag with your own documents and a couple of days food, water and clothing, and writing out an evacuation plan - I've done that myself, though I need to update it, its better than nothing.

    Stay safe.
