:( Me, too. I've got several second cousins who live in Brussels, have had a branch of the family over there for the best part of a century, inc getting caught up in both World Wars.

Have no reason to believe any of my rellies are in trouble, but those who are hurt and killed are someone's nearest and dearest, my heart goes out to all people affected.:(

ETA; just spoken to family, none of the rellies are living in affected areas and should have had no reason to be at the airport or on the metro. Mum and Dad are a bit shaken, they've been on that line which was bombed many times. :(

It is sad that we humans can't just accept each other's differences and get along.

Have just kondoed a bin bags worth of ratty old pots from the front along with a load of snails ( the snails have been rehomed in the shrubs on the local park) also put a load of autumn leaves that had got trapped behind the pots and under the hedge in the garden recycling bin, front looks much better with less on it.

Our local CS seemed quite surprised when I rang to check they were open on friday, lady I spoke to said they didn't realise it was an option. They will take the floor standing lamp but it needs patterning so will be taken to a different shop to be sold after its tested. She was thrilled when I said I was bringin some of my rather large stash of crossstitch mags in as they have a few regulars who come in for craft stuff.
I have tons of them so will work through them as I reach them and kondo them at regular intervals to keep them supplied.
I still love cross stitch but have loads of kits and the small charts etc can easily be found free on the web.

Shoe boxes went to school and have brought joy to their recipient.

Been told I can borrow a metre wheel so Dh can mark his track without having to buy anything to measure it.

Going to go and prep food now.

Sebrie - my thoughts are with you and all your colleagues that are caught up in this awful mayhem and of course the people who have been killed by this barberous act and their loved ones.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I wouldn't hang onto these for too long at home as they will eventually corrode and start to seep the nasty stuff inside. Plus, they add to domestic chaos by causing you to wonder which are the good ones and which are the duds.

This IS my problem with my battery hoard. Some of them have started to leak, especially the ones I found in the shed of all places. This is probably behind my reluctance to take them to the supermarket recycle bins. There is one very large and heavy battery too so I will hopefully dump them in the battery bin at my local recycling centre next week.

There are a probably a few good ones in there too. Domestic chaos is a good description.

I will be more organised and less chaotic in the future!

:) Yeah, on a recent clear up at the family home (which could occupy me full time as a kondo-ite, incidentally, although I visit about every 6 week for a couple of days) I found a couple of seeping batteries on the kitchen counter. Fortunately, they'd just barely started to ooze........

I reckon it's hard to beat the happy feeling of organisation and the competance which comes from knowing what you have, where you have it, that it is in usable condition and that you can drop your hands on it in seconds.

I've observed many times in life the sheer wastage of time and energy, not to mention the aggravations and rows, caused by not being able to find Stuff. All the flailing around unproductively and the accompanying wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Life is busy. We have lots of different things to do, and many of them acquire accountrements. Being able to handle our accessories makes life so much simpler and less stressful.

:o A lot of people have expressed their opinion to me over the years that I am hardworking. It's sort-of true. I have no problem about working hard on things which I need/ want to do. Apart from that, I am very very lazy and I don't want to spend one iota of energy or time more than I have to. This leads to plotting and scheming for efficiency, as in do I need to do this at all/ can I cheat/is there a faster or easier way?

If you apply brain power before muscle power, it's amazing how many things you can skive.;)

Siebrie I was also watching the live updates and my thoughts are with you. :( and it really does make you think.

Last night at about 10pm I saw police cars and fire engines going down our road with blue lights flashing. Didnt know what was going on. But this morning on the radio it said there was a house fire in our Road :( No one was hurt but the house is pretty bad. Dont know whos house it was yet. But will find out and see if I can help in anyway. So sad for whoever it is.

So today I am thinking how lucky I am and all this brings it home in a such a big way.

Morning all, hope everyone is as well and can be and all of you are safe.
Seibrie hope you and yours are all safe and well.
My thought remain with those affected.
Mavvy must have been a shock I hope the people who live in the affected house are all safe.

Been thinking about my cross stitch mags overnight, if I am going to let some more go I think I will try and bag the ones as I go through them so hopefully by Friday I can kondo more to give me the space. The CS has people eating for them so hopefully they won't be stored with them for too long and the quicker they go from me the easier it will be to sort other things out.

    Hugs all

Bin day here. 5 recycling bags with boxes of shredded paper plus other stuff in them, plus another of ordinary household recycling and a couple of black bags. Normal week is one black half full, and one or possibly two of recycling. I've another bag that's two thirds full I'll see if I can find more for before the binmen arrive.

Yesterday I found myself breaking open floppy disks, stripping the metal parts out for recycling, shredding the disks and putting the plastic in the recycling bags. Also shredded some data CDs. The shredder is holding up well considering the sheer volume of stuff that's been going through it this week.

I'd been keeping a mushroom box for a couple of weeks thinking it looked useful storage. This morning I've discovered we had way more spare travel tissue packets than I could see from the front of the kitchen cupboard. The mushroom box has been pulled into service to store the tissues.

A mop and spare mop head I bought on impulse at the Ideal Home Exhibition, and which isn't very good has been earmarked for the tip as has a toaster (we don't eat bread anymore), a pan lid, some baking tins (don't make cakes), a vase for the charity shop along with some toys the cat doesn't play with (it's an animal charity).

I know I'm not going about this in the absolute KM way, but a great deal of stuff is leaving the house, and perhaps when I've done a good deal more, I'll re-read the book and attempt a second sweep following her principles more thoroughly. There's just way too much of every type of Stuff to be able to drag it all out in one go.

OH apologised last night about getting precious about his pots.

Oh I also cleared out the stationery cupboard, identified a load of stuff to take along to my Thursday group and hope somebody else will make use of, if not it's going to the charity shop. Found a load of part used paper pads I'm taking when I meet my friend later for her daughter to draw on.
