I like the 'Dulux white' range of paints. The cream I was racking my brain for is barley white, which we teamed with 'willow tree' in my office. Also got willow tree in the kitchen. We've used Barley white in a number of rooms with contrasting colours on other walls. We've got blossom white in the hall stairs and landing and jade white in the two bathrooms and downstairs loo and violet white in a bedroom. They are easy colours for us to live with.

The majority of ceilings in our 1930's home are Dulux Calico, the exceptions being my study (French white & Oslo blue, which team perfectly with the Ikea ash desk & Billy bookcases :)) the bathroom (ivory bathroom paint to tone with the marble tiles) and the kitchen (white kitchen paint). The woodwork is mainly white eggshell and the doors are all original varnished wood.

My previous home was a riot of colours: my bedroom was Barbie pink on two walls with the rest white, DS2 did one collage wall, split aqua & lilac on one wall, painted one wall aqua & painted his own freestyle design on the last wall, and DS2 painted his room pale yellow. Our home with their dad was mainly Dulux Buttermilk (nothing against the colour but we rebelled a bit!).

Forgot to mention, I Kondo'd shoes yesterday. A pair of slippers I'd kept for decorating got binned, then I noticed the pair I was wearing ha a split in them. They've been downgraded to decorating and the brand new identical pair I'd just found earlier in the day have been retrieved from under a spare bed and are keeping my feet warm.

The cupboard under the stairs is now looking very tidy with shoes all lined up.

Finally got around to samosaing my carrier bags (I know, late to the party).

Have been MIA for a few months due to RL but am so glad to be back and working through the OS threads, particularly this one! I fell off the wagon and started buying unnecessary stuff again so it's back to basics. I Kondoed four items of clothing tonight and hung up or folded (most of) the laundry in the proper MK way. No time to read the book in the evenings so will be taking the Kindle to work and getting a lunchtime boost before coming home and starting fresh.

It sounds as if everyone's been so productive - a real motivator
    Looking ahead

Used to love painting, when the girls were little, they would tell everyone that the walls in the hall were a different colour every time the got back from school!:rotfl:
As it's been pointed out paint is now expensive so not so much done these days plus I find my arms and hands suffer if I have to do it now :(

I love white and have it in a few rooms ,I have a lovely sage green in the hall (1 wall ) which also used to be in the kitchen but that is now farrow and ball Lulworth blue which turned out to be bluer than I wanted but is nice. My lounge is grey greige, I used 2 similar shades on opposite walls with white woodwork it is lovely not cold as someone else asked. I also have a dark grey on 2 walls in my little cloakroom and that has slate floor tiles .
My bedroom was totally white with blue and white striped bedding ,white blinds and wardrobes, I love a coastal look! When I felt the need to change I just added a taupe wall and hung a blue seaside painting on it above the bed.

Loving the paint colour stories. When we moved into our house we had an orange front door, purple carpet in the hall and a strong acid green on the walls. We had to live with it for about 18 months or so. My friend called the colour slime lime! Good job we could see past the awful colour combinations in the house!

Well this thread has truly got me I felt that 2:30 AM was a very good time to sort out my towels. I had previously rolled them all up but I hated the way they looked and they certainly did not bring me joy so in the early hours of the morning I was folding them a la Anthea Turner and they look so much better now and I can see what I have. Just need to sort my bedding now. Have tried putting them in a pillowcase but don't think I am folding the sheets properly as they are not sitting right. Oh well will find something.
Also does anyone need me to prove that I won employee of the month in a job I am no longer at 13yrs ago? I have the certificate to prove it. Anyone?... Speak now or forever hold thy peace. Ok you had your chance it's in the bin now why why why?
    Have a good day xx

WHilst people are in colour mode, what would people recommend for my kitchen, please... :) It has 2 windows facing NNW and 1 half glazed door facing West (well, 90 degrees to the NNW facing windows) It's quite large (easily the size of a double garage) and is cold and gloomy. It currently has a dulux paint on (can't remember the colour, but it matches the pale beige-ness of dried plaster perfectly!) and I'd like something possibly purple (def purple, not plum colours - on my kitchen sides I have this colour KA: http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/KitchenAid+Artisan+4.8L+Stand+Mixer%2C+Grape/139275269,default,pd.html and this colour toaster & kettle: http://www.brennands.co.uk/home-garden/kitchen/kettles/cordless-kettles/purple-kettles/morphy-richards-traditional-purple-stainless-steel-fast-boil-kettle-43769/prod_3174.html
Am possibly thinking an accent wall, but stuck - maybe someone can help? :D
Fingers crossed.... :) Thank you x

Hi, my daughter has purple accessories like yours. She has an acrylic splashback like this
http://www.cutplasticsheeting.co.uk/acrylic-kitchen-splashbacks/magenta-pink-cast-acrylic-kitchen-splashback-gloss-finish but in a turquoise colour, it sounds a bit much but it actually looks really great. They cut the acrylic sheets so they fit round electrics, cupboards etc and then they are just glued to the wall. It wasn't very expensive and looks very effective.

Mumps - thanks for the link - will be showing OH tonight, as i think that it will be good in our kitchen. Am getting ideas ready whilst saving up for our kitchen.

We have John*tones ivory all over our house. Painted it about 5 years ago - needs doing again. When we moved in, over 14 years ago - we have green carpets (which only were replaced recently) and blue and pink walls in the bedroom and a blue kitchen.

Everything got repainted bit by bit.

So - underwear, socks & tights all KD. sorted and sushi rolled with using mushroom tubs too. Unfortunately, not enough room in the drawers for my vest tops, so a bit more re-arranging will be done.

Make-up will be done this weekend. Am another one here, that doesn't wear make-up. I have a little bit when we go to weddings or other high functions like that, but as am I not good at putting it on myself, i wear very little on those days.

I have a question for the lovely people on here - hope that you will be able to help me...I have a lot of study books that I want to get rid of - I have used them in my current study but won't be dipping into them at all for the remainder of the courses. Which is the better platform to sell them on - G/Tree or Ama*on? Is it easy to sell books on a one of basis on Ama*on? All help will be appreciated.

Have a good rest of the day all.
