  • Gosh, a busy weekend on here! Thank you to the person who mentioned apple green in their bedroom (sorry, it's two pages ago and I can't remember who it was!) That would go perfectly with my bedding and curtains while still feeling light and warm.

Thanks to all those who've posted about colour and light; I lack confidence in choosing wall colours and usually go for the ubiquitous magnolia. It's not cheap to buy paint and it's a lot of work to then find you've chosen the 'wrong' colour. Having said that, since I Kondoed the decorating supplies and cleared so much carp, the next decorating job will be much easier. There's some really good advice on here, I'm going to go away and study this whole paint thing more thoughtfully.

    Morning kondoites.

I am loving the chat at the moment and some fantastic eye opening posts. Its amazing how this process twists and turns.Well done to everyone for going with it and not getting off the train before your destination ;)

Yesterday was spent with DH changing everything around and kondoing loads. All ready to be collected on Wednesday. I did an Igamogam and walked past 3 pictures and took them off the wall there and then and put them in the 'to go pile' then did a Grey Queen and have left on wall blank by the TV and love it my eyes are just drawn to it and it feels very restful :)

A huge mirror has also gone in the pile as its so heavy I am always worried its going to fall off the wall and land on someone (or the dog) So worry no more mavvymoo its in the pile to go:D

I feel I am getting there now on kondo round 12 :rotfl:Still thinking about paint colours as our house is open plan very light and bright with loads of windows but a low ceiling. With a painted White wood floor. The walls are ' Dul*x Timeless at the moment which is a Cream White but I do think I would be happy with a stark White but it maybe too much I am not sure yet . Maybe you paint /colour experts could give me your opinion ;)

Packing up my Sons stuff today and will stick that in the loft until he collects it (god forbid if my roof blows off):rotfl:

Enjoy your day what ever you are doing

    Mav x

Debt free and Mortgage free thank you to all for your encouragement and advice

MMF007 - our caravan has a lovely hinged double bed. It lifts from the bottom on gas struts. Massive amount of storage BUT I need to get my shoulder underneath it to lift and although plenty of storage its not particularly easily accessible as Shanks has said. Current bed in our bedroom has drawers either side - one large and one half size to allow for a bedside table. DH & I keep our 'work' clothes in them (jeans and t-shirts) I prefer this arrangement to the one where you have a large drawer across the bottom. HTH.

Had a bit of a LBM when I realised that I already own the perfect basket for my needs, the one I was chazzer-hunting for. Only it's in the bike shed holding something which needs to be used up, then the basket can come back indoors. How had this thing slipped into invisibility? It was on a shelf at eye-level all the time.

I guess I'd become rigid in thinking that's the basket of XXXXXX which I keep in the shed and not considered whether XXXXXX were something I needed to be holding onto at all.

:o I reckon there's a lot of that in this world, whole bits of furniture whose sole purpose is to contain things we're not using.

I *so* agree with this - it happens even with my books. That whole kondo thing of *holding* something and *then* considering it is really powerful, it challenges that invisibility.

My own ridiculous example: a few years ago, I bought some plastic dustbins - not to *be* dustbins, as I have the council wheelie bins for that, but to be storage outside for non-temperature-dependent stuff, like cleaned flowerpots, bags of soil, stuff like that. Then I got really ill, and they were just stored in the garden, "oh yes, thats those bins". I've just realised, the stack of flowerpots on the bottom of a bookcase can happily go live in the bin in the garden, spider-free, yet easily on call when needed. It takes the achievement of getting rid of a bookcase quite a few steps nearer :j:j:j

WHilst people are in colour mode, what would people recommend for my kitchen, please... :) It has 2 windows facing NNW and 1 half glazed door facing West (well, 90 degrees to the NNW facing windows) It's quite large (easily the size of a double garage) and is cold and gloomy. It currently has a dulux paint on (can't remember the colour, but it matches the pale beige-ness of dried plaster perfectly!) and I'd like something possibly purple (def purple, not plum colours - on my kitchen sides I have this colour KA: http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/KitchenAid+Artisan+4.8L+Stand+Mixer%2C+Grape/139275269,default,pd.html and this colour toaster & kettle: http://www.brennands.co.uk/home-garden/kitchen/kettles/cordless-kettles/purple-kettles/morphy-richards-traditional-purple-stainless-steel-fast-boil-kettle-43769/prod_3174.html
Am possibly thinking an accent wall, but stuck - maybe someone can help? :D
Fingers crossed.... :) Thank you x

I suddenly got the energy to empty a set of drawers at work. It contained folders I've never seen or used in the 8+ years that I am working here. Most documents were shredded, a few dumped on colleagues' desks for them to decide. Now, the set of drawers can go; woohoo!

What colour are the units, worktops and floor coverings. How adventurous are you.......are there many large "unbroken walls" or are they broken up with units, Windows, doors, wall hung radiators.

What shape is the room. Is there an obvious choice for a "feature" wall.

Well I have had a very productive day. Have done all the bedroom and bathroom Komono, toiletries, medicines, make up, fashion jewellery. Reorganised a couple of drawers. It's all looking good, not much to discard because I did it all fairly recently but It is now better organised. I even have a couple of my oretty storage boxes standing empty. They will come in handy for bits and bobs that need a temporary home and any toiletry spares.

Will tackle the study later in the week, although again it won't be a big job because I discarded a lot of paperwork the other day.

It's all coming together nicely now.
